I’ve stayed in 5* hotels Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and Thailand. While I really like Thailand (Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui), they’re not at the same level of Luxuries as Dubai. Kuala Lumpur has cheap vibes and not luxurious at all.

@@TheDestineyy its not if you are rolling in millions or billions... Dubai caters well to those with 💰 to enjoy certain types of luxury experiences similar to other parts of the world but not at a fraction which would allow many more ppl to enjoy. When it comes to culture, food and scenery, yes Dubai is unique for that. But otherwise, it's a large glorified adult playground for the wealthy. Many of the ideas and attractions there are sourced from other countries.. while a smaller percentage is truly local with their own interesting culture and good food.

Hi, the hotel is lovely. I have a couple questions, I hope that is ok and feel free not to answer if you are uncomfortable. Is it true the workers who came from other countries there are basically working with no protections to be treated humanely? Are they supplied very meager & overpopulated accommodations outside the city? Most do not ever receive their paycheck & have little chance of ever seeing their families again? I went to Las Vegas and I struggled to enjoy my time there due to the facade of prosperity presented, the reality for most people there was awful. I saw many people on the streets during the hottest of days, begging for money, some even with their pets. We stayed in a very nice hotel on the strip. Everything was greatly overpriced, most of the food was mediocre unless you were willing to pay hundreds a night for dinner. I feel guilty enjoying opulence when I can see signs of visible suffering around me. How did you feel being there? I mean no offense, I am simply curious to get other people’s perspectives so I can see the reality and not go by one person’s experience only. Thank you 🙏🏼

@discussionswiththeuniverse That is not really true. Workers are protected by the law, and any violations of the law are punished. One such law is the prohibition of labor workers working under the sun during summer from 12 PM to 3 PM. Their salaries are much more than what they would receive back at home, and they come to the country with the amount of money they receive in mind. Also, if you ever do visit, you can always talk to them regarding when they last saw their families, a common answer I receive is " a few months ago ", so they can travel at will. As for their accommodations, there are some free accommodations given to them if they so choose to live in these accommodations, if not, they could opt out of it I believe. In general, everything appears to be smooth in the UAE.

Lol at the ^ propagandist that showed up.
The OP’s fears are very warranted. I saw a documentary of an single Australian woman that went to work there, was drugged/graped by multiple men, and when she went to report it SHE was the one who was imprisoned for “adultery!” Her passport was taken and she couldn’t contact her family, and she was there for eons without any hope. It was so upsetting. Similar stories were in that documentary regarding a woman who made the “terrible” mistake of giving a guy friend a hug and kiss in public - being arrested for it.
Only a moron would travel there - _ESPECIALLY_ if you’re a woman! It’s an extremely misogynistic cuIture.

They are victims, most of them they don’t even hold their own passport and visa (they run away from their employer without notice). But, for us expatriate who came to the city with a valid working visa and accountable sponsor, we are living in abundance. We got our monthly paycheck, most of us we got free accomodation, free 3 times buffet meals, free transportation, 2 ways free air ticket to home country every year, also wifi and phone bills are getting paid by company.

i found tourist food in Dubai not that good. you need to go where wealthy locals go to eat. that's when i really enjoyed the food. but that's just my experience.

It's a nice hotel but it doesn't feel ultra-luxury. Some of the furnitures in the pool area looks really cheap. The nicest part of the hotel is actually the rooms.

Firstly, their tagline "most ultraluxury hotel" is a joke. To experience ultraluxury, visit an Aman or Four Seasons in Asia. It's about the personalized service, the way people treat you, not the fake gold-plated stuff or the fancy cars outside the hotel.

Bottom line. Many places arent meant for everyone. Im looking at the RA(Royal Atlantis)from the WA(Waldorf Astoria)...For me I will pay 2,000 for one night just for the experience. I stayed at the Burj Al Arab one night just for the experience. Everyone just cant do that and understandably for many it's just not worth it...
