The tears came. I couldn't help it. Alex Lifeson playing one of the most iconic solos in rock. It's great to hear him play live again. He was hanging around the back of the stage, just like any of the other members of the band. A modest giant of rock, still doing it.
Same here brother, I saw Rush for the first time 10Mar78 in Boston,MA.
This brought chills down my spine and made my eyes well up with joy and euphoria!!
Long live Alex & Geddy & R.I.P. Neil🙏❤️
The 4:45 ALEX LIFESON Solo just 100% Healed my Heart for him. SO nice to see him smile again. Somewhere up there, Neil would be pleased.
4:45 The Master plays :P
May I ask, Neil who?
@@donreed - Just in case you’re not joking, Neil Peart.
Loved the way he nailed the studio version... no tricks or gymnastics. He honored it and himself.
I'm listening and wondering when Alex is going to break in and then ... god damn he's such a master!
Alex Lifeson is a rock legend to say the least.
Alex is a Guitar God
Yep, and likely the only one up there with his nickname emblazoned on his amp.
Agreed
One of the reasons I've always like Alex Lifeson so much is his lack of ego. He doesn't need a spotlight... he doesn't need to be out front... just there to do his job. Thanks Alex. :)
Me too but its also one of the things I always felt held him back. He's one of the all time greats. I wish he would "own" that.
Now if we can get Jimmy Page to play Tom Sawyer the circle would be complete.
I would say La Villa Strangiato
😂😂😂😂
Exatamente @@lipsterman1
Are you kidding me? This is incredible. To see how Alex shines in this context is amazing.
When ALEX took the lead the band turned toward him and became the audience! Smooth as silk!
ALEX!!!
Loved the way Alex was in the background until it was his turn to burn! And as usual, he nailed it!
Alex humbly laying it down to the side of the stage. The Working Man.
Great to see him playing!!
Alex slaying as usual. Jimmy should be proud!
That’s the power of music right there! Loved seeing Alex playing guitar and smiling again. R.I.P Neil❤️🙏
A gazillion players but great solo by Alex Lifeson somehow stands out.
I actually rolled a tear or two out just now listening to Alex play that solo!!!
as RUSH fan and ultimately a Zeppelin fan, i agree completely. great playing!!
since you're handle is@@TheGentleman__ -- :) you might like this (3 years ago), enjoy: ua-cam.com/video/3Fa8Co3BuJ4/v-deo.html
Rush used to be a Led Zeppelin tribute band
@@Unity360Media I actually noticed this performance a month ago! Thanks. Just a great song, I really enjoy hearing Alex play some guitar licks at the start, when I saw him just shred the original solo from, stairway I loved it!
@@redeyeify Um, no.
That singer crushed the Zeppelin stuff for sure!
Wow...Lerxt crushing the Stairway solo and vocals spot on! Very cool.
I bet he's played it a lot from the early days on. Just not publicly. Great job
I like how he didn’t even step forward to take the solo; somehow, I’d be willing to bet there’s a bunch of people there who don’t even know who he is…
I didn’t know it was at Massey Hall when I made that comment…
@@MAXIMUSMINIMALIST as I mentioned, I did not realize they were at Massey Hall when I made the comment…
No doubt!!
He just seems so humble... Not jumping to center stage, just hanging out, playing some guitar.. Love it.
Lerxst + Les Paul = Magic......
Glad to see Alex still has his chops!
fuckin A i love ALEX LIFESON
Alex, you made my day! Loved the solo! We miss you and Geddy!
Alex is timeless
OK, that rocked!
My man Alex shredding out that solo was AWESOME. But kudos to everyone, especially the 3 lead vocalists.
Playing humbly in the back there stands none other than the greatest guitar god of all time.
Wow - stand up and be counted, Alex Lifeson!! You just gave me goosebumps with that solo; pure magic!
Alex is THE MAN !!!
A wild Alex Lifeson appears. He used the move "Guitar solo"! It is super effective!
Clicked on because of Alex and to my surprise I see the boys from Crown Land, Cody who has the vocals to do Robert Plant justice and the one man band himself Kevin on the double neck. Rush a power trio and Crown Land a power duo all great musicians. BTW fantastic LZ covers and as expected on the solo, Alex nails it.
that’s not just any EDS-1275, if you look at the truss rod covers (as well as noting the tiny switch in between neck pickups) you’ll know that is Lifeson’s EDS affectionately known as “Heavy Bastard”.
Alex is an absolute beast on the guitar. Sooooo underrated!!!!
Well I fucking like this.
Thanks for pointing me here.
Me as well👍
Miss “Lerxst” so much. Almost 2 years since losing “the Professor” & 6 years since he last took the stage with those other 2 kings!!
The world is a little less bright without RUSH here to release some new music & grace us with a tour.
Glad to see he’s rocking the “LERXST” amps!! 🤘❤️
Those 'Lerxst' amps and Lerxst 4 X 12 cabinets together cost around $4,000............ridiculous!
Crowns Land is awesome. Alex best guitarist ever.
Cody and Kevin {Crown Lands} absolutely KILLING it out there with Lerxst!!!
He played that more expressively than anyone next to Pagey himself...Go Alex, fantabulous musician paying tribute to one of his heroes! Alex is virtuoso without peer!
Take it down a notch, fanboy
@@Frankincensedjb123 I ain't wrong, S**theel!
@@Frankincensedjb123 no shit...that whole thing pretty much was average at best
@@retrorockit Yea, not really! Maybe for a 20 year old who bought a Guitar Player mag, but this is the great Alex Lifeson with a tribute solo for the ages!
@@Frankincensedjb123 use a toilet next time , trotster
Excellent vocals as well as instrumentation. The mandolins were played brilliantly.
LOVE the fact that the most watched part of this vid is Alex doing his thing!
Well that was fun!! And I might add very well done. While I am here I have to say I think that Alex is one of the Greatest Guitar Players on the Planet. Just sayin'.. Merry Christmas everyone.
Alex! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Nice to see Lerxst making a younger man carry Heavy Bastard for a change!
Hahaha it was an honour
Congrats Kevin on your promotion from 'Kickass Guitarist' to Demigod. 😁 (Doubt Alex would let just anybody hold Heavy Bastard, let alone play it. Lol)
Cody, awesome as always. 🎶
Five decades of hard touring and arthritis be damned-Lifeson delivers the goods, nailing his hero’s most epic solo.
Every single comment here is about Lerxst...simply the best. 100 years from now they will speak of Rush the way they speak of Beethoven and Mozart now.
That was the best I've ever heard anybody play that solo. So glad to see you out there Alex having fun again amazing group of musicians and singers.
So I put this on to see Lerxt...but wholly cow, the lead vocalists, and the back up band is amazing, music is incredible!
Same exact thing for me, fellow bass player!
Who is Lerxt? Which band member?
Yes! All on fire , drummer (maybe bass too) could have more world class to really bring it home, but a fine pro job non the less.
Yes they are!!
Lead singer and the guitarist next to Alex are the band Crown Lands, check them out if you haven’t! Especially “Context:Fearless Pt.1”
Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band to ever exist. No one compares. Musically, lifestyle, business dealings Zeppelin will never be duplicated.
I love every single Zeppelin song. Too bad they sucked at recreating those songs live. Rush, sounded even better live than the a!bums IMO.
@@siddokis2945 guess you never watched TSRTS?? or royal albert hall concert? in 1970? hmmmm. 1979 knebworth? they played those songs differant every night. its called improvisation?
@@myfordranger Albert hall was tight, the rest were sloppy and somewhat disappointing on first watch for a lifelong fan. Improvisation is great but heroin interfered with Jimmy's physical abilities.
@@siddokis2945 they chose not to duplicate them live. A full 1/3 of a zeppelin show was improvised on the spot every show. A song could be super heavy one night and jazz like the next. They were so amazingly good they could take any song anywhere the felt like going. It’s called prodigy level abilities combined with the most fearless attitude in rock history. Any one can duplicate exactly what they did on an album. Led Zeppelin is simply the greatest live band to ever exist. No one took chances live that they did. They played on the edge of failure and never did. Some call it sloppy others see a band pushing themselves beyond physical capabilities A band that regularly played 4 hr shows. A band that left everything they had on stage every night. They played every show like it was there last. I suggest listening to How the West was won and realize it’s mostly made up never to be duplicated again. If you can physically withstand listening to an entire Zeppelin concert you should find new understanding. The greatest band to ever exist. No and, if or buts about it
@@siddokis2945 you know nothing about zeppelin. Jimmy didn’t get heavy into heroin until after physical graffiti. They did 11 US tours only 1 of them during the Presence tour was it an issue. Plants son died cutting the tour short. They never toured the states again.
That fella does a great Robert Plant 👌
"The Battle of Evermore" w/ some Stairway for good measure! Awesome!!!
Two of the best bands ever Rush and Led zeppelin. Alex did a great job as usual.
Alex making the other guitarist laugh at 2:15 is so heartwarming to see. Brings back a lot of good memories.
Alex is the MAN!! And what a great lead vocalist that is!
Great to see Alex having some fun again!
Kudos to the YT algorithm for allowing me to witness this LOL
Love the grins on the band's faces during Alex's solo!
Awesome to see Alex back playing and smiling!! I would have loved to be at that show !! My dream is to see him and Ged back playing with Grohl !!! One could only dream 🤷♂️what if?
Great vocals. And a masterpiece from Alex.
Alex Lifeson. The best.
Nice to see and hear Lerxst doing what he does best.
It's great to see Lerxst out there playing again 😎
Great to see Alex able to play music again after such a monumental loss. Will always be my favorite guitarist of all time.
Love how Alex always just hangs out in the back, got to see him at the 2018 show :)
I would argue Alex is one of the best musicians of all time. Go ahead, play la villa on guitar.
I can play it!
Exactly
I’ve seen the rock greats play…Neal Schon, EVH, ect. and can say Alex Lifeson is the best.
Alex has been an under rated guitarist, 1981 Rush Moving Pictures tour, I was there .
agreed!
Im at a loss for words... Im happy for all the lucky souls that got to experience this live.
Alex has still got it, great musician!
I love Rush. As a drummer, Neil will forever be my favorite drummer besides my uncle Craig (Nitro, the Drummer KC), who was my reason for wanting to play in the first place. However, I'd be remiss not to include how great Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee are as well. They are the biggest sounding 3 piece I've ever heard and all are phenomenal musicians.
Alex ripping into some Stairway? Hell yes! Go right ahead Mr. Lifeson!!!!
So glad to see him out playing again. Great sounding band with major presence.
That was an awesome performance. So AWESOME to see Alex playing live still. Will never forget seeing him live from 30 feet away during Clockwork Angels, but I was amazed at how un-hurried, nonchalant, and professional he was during the guitar switch.
Great to see Alex play again
Big Al absolutely nailed that solo! Woooooow!
Rush, no one better.
This was something I needed, just helped with healing over a recent loss. whoever did the mandolin part was awesome. And Alex having met him and learned so many of his amazing parts provided a light in my life like he always does.
So very sorry for your loss…congrats on the blessing of having met Alex! 🙏🏻♥️
Great to see Alex back and happy.
Old rock is classic, it will never die, like Beethoven, it is imortal, and will be covered over and over again!
Man, Cody Bowles sounds great!!!
Great to see alex playing and smiling again
Nice job Lerxist! Well done
So good to Lerxt playing!! The solo was magnificent!!
Alex crushing it as usual. So good to see him play with others live - especially for such a good casue. RUSH forever!
Alex is one of the good people in the biz....thank you
Thank you
These are just a few of my favorite things... Alex, Zeppelin Covers, and The Lord of the Rings.
Alex is shredding, and I am shedding ,TEARS listening to this. Truly Awesome! A.L. Is awesome no matter what song he plays. Most cannot Harrow the “Rock” field Alex already PLOWED! Giver! Good to C U. Back on stage. The rest of the Band ROCKED as well. CHEERS 🗽
Great glad for Alex
Thank you, Massey Hall, for making this available. It's indescribable to be able to see Alex playing, again, even if it's not with Rush. The healing continues for so many of us. Thank you again and congrats on your restoration!
Super cool! More!
God, this looks like it was good fun for all. A certain Lerxst still has it. 😊🖤
tears !!!!!!!!!!!
Man I miss RUSH!
Lifeson is one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters ever. Period.
#RUSH
Great to see Alex killing it again!
That might be the best cover solo for Stairway I’ve ever heard ❤️
so cool, Merry Christmas everyone! ...yep and Amen.
I cried when I saw Rush in Rio. Right then I wanted to stick all 3 of them in a plastic box filled with preservative.👑🤘💪🎸
LOVE ALEX,,THIS SINGERS GOOD ALSO
My man Alex still punching it!
Great to see Alex playing and smiling. Excellent cover
Our hero Alex is always impressive. Great job to all on stage!
Not sure what's going on in this vid, but it deserves way more views.
I'm so happy to see Alex having fun man and just loving playing he's such a good guy and well one of my all time inspirations!!
This was absolutely amazing ! I tip my hat to all of you that performed. Thank you
