Dime used to play with Anthrax a lot, I'm sure this makes a difference in understanding Pantera's sound.

I was there and this show was EPIC!!!!!! Phil and Rex did not disappoint! and Charlie and Zakk brought their a game. Successful bucketlist check off!!!!
Charlie is killing it and will only get better. I know zakk didn’t want to replace his sound, but it doesn’t have dimes crunch! Not saying change his style of play, but get a little closer to dimes sound is all. Beggars can’t be choosers I guess.
first minute sounds JUST LIKE Pantera.... just to be clear..... I would MUCH rather go see Zak play some Pantera songs than listen to some pre-recorded Crue....honestly there was never any comparison between the two. #standwithmick

For those hating on this Darrell and Vinnie are smiling in heaven on this amazing tribute to them. With their brothers riding under the PANTERA banner. All members are giving it their all and this couldn't possibly be more Pantera without Dime and Vin coming back from the next realm.

For people who don’t play guitar this is passable, but not with a musician’s ear. The riffs were wrong and sloppy and the solo? Any Pantera cover band would have done this song more justice. Zakk to fken lazy to learn it the correct way- either that or he is trying to play whilst hammered, smh 🤦♂️

He's been sober for like ten years. He said in an interview before they started that he wasn't doing the solos note for note. I did notice something sounded a tad off in some parts riff wise, too.

Hey man, I never had a chance to see anything close to Pantera due to my age. I'm going in August and going to enjoy every moment. Along with Lamb of God.. saw them in 08 in original form. Sure the show will be a banger🤟

They dont mimic or play in tribute bands mimicking every single note.. thank God.. ive saw dime bag play other greats songs live and he sounded nothing like the original writer and player.. its not gonna happen.. im thankful they all sound different.. but he put enough in to honor his friend without trying to mimic his own music.. people want him to mimic dime but its not happening.. the same if dime tried to mimic zakk note for note.. it wouldn't happen because dime will still have his own style mixed in . Just be thankful they are giving us live beautiful classic music and that they are doing good for their late good friends

Happy this is happening. But I’ve watched many performances in you tube but it’s not sounding right.
It’s probly the audio recording.
Parts sound delayed and not in unison.
I was about 50 feet from the stage in front of speakers. When I Bluetooth it on certain things it delays it. In my car it's delayed. On my boss in house it's fine.
They should’ve been a ‘side project’ and called themselves “Cowboys From Hell” as a tribute to Pantera. Kinda like the Dio tribute band ‘Last In Line’. Just sayin’ 🤷🏻♂️🤘🏼

Everyone bitching about Zakk not playing Dime's parts note for note...first off NOBODY could duplicate Dime. 2nd, Zakk and Dime were great friends. BLS "In This River" was about Dime. And every real guitarist in the world, ESPECIALLY those who are filling in as a tribute, adds their own flair. Again, not one single guitarist is the same. And Dime would have wanted Zakk to do his own thing.

Made me sad. I remember when this song became a part of my Walkman. I washed dishes, rode a mt bike. Worked hard played like a fish. Loved my youth! Losing Vinnie and Dime were big in that well never feel that magic again.

I think it sounds really good but the performance is a bit flat. Phil sounds better than I thought he would, but he doesn’t have the same energy anymore. Charlie sounds great, as expected. Rex is still Rex. Zakk is probs the best possible replacement.
Phil can't move like he used to, but he sounds great. I can't wait to see them in Foxboro, MA. I may stick around for Metallica.

What was with the pre-recorded track of the opening riff? All these people saying “you don’t know anything about Pantera….blah blah.” Please, just stop. This is half of Pantera and I can’t believe their surviving family members signed off on this.

They are all fine musicians in their own right. But I’ve seen Tribute bands do a better job.

I'm beginning to understand that these are not Pantera fans, they're Phil Anselmo fans... and nothing wrong with that but Pantera is not Phil only (believe me, I've seen "Pantera fans" saying that or that "Pantera dropped the glam stuff because of Phil" when in reality Terry left the band because Pantera wanted to change musical directions to thrash)

His playing was always phenomenal but I was never the biggest fan of Dime's tone. It was better than this though. Did this guy turn every knob on a compressor to 10 and just roll with it? Sounds like his strings are made of mud. Hard to believe guys that get so much to pay guitar can have such terrible tone.

I will just never like Zakk Wylde soloing. Vibrato is obnoxiously wide and he takes every liberty he can to ruin the original vibe. They should have got a no name that played the songs faithfully.

Putting Dime's best friend there, that is a big display of respect. This reunion/tribute, specially the guitar part isnt about covering songs in my opinion.
When there is this much publicity on the line it can’t be risked by putting some no name up there in front of 10,000 people. Playing the notes faithfully is only a small portion of this type of gig. Also, the look needed. Some douche in a baseball cap and a monster energy shirt can’t get up there and not be laughed off stage. Zakk’s resume speaks for itself.
I agree, however, he is getting better and I do like his renditions today versus when the reunion started. None of it can hold a candle to the way Dime played it, though.
Just watched this again to give Zakk another chance, and he is terrible. An awful replacement for Dimebag. Charlie Benante is doing such an amazing job filling Vinnies shoes, and we have to suffer this obnoxious one trick pony bumblefucking through Dimebags work. It's heartbreaking.
