My step dad bought one of these a couple of months ago. It works really well, if my parents are out of town they can see who rings the door and what time it is. This is such a great product!

I have 4 Blink cameras and no subscription. They were only $100.00 for all 4 and they’re great. Change batteries every 6 to 12 months and you’re good to go. In the drs. Office, shopping, driving, wherever you are, you know who’s at your door and when. I love them.
I just had to subscribe… the video was just…. Perfect. Everything. Informative, fast, simple. It was all I wanted to know about ring doorbell.
We had our first package theft in four years and basically three out of three ring devices failed to detect motion. The reason I know is because I have a backup system from another brand. I called Ring Support telling them basically the system failed. She checked everything, Wi-Fi speed, zones, etc after putting me on hold, probably talking to a supervisor on how to respond, she said that it was because of cool down and frequency settings. The last motion was 8 minutes before and she knew it. I pay $30 for the Ring Plus and am 100% disappointed in their response. If you see this review on other videos, then it’s because I’m THAT DISAPPOINTED after spending nearly $1k in product and fees. Unfortunately, I have no idea which system is best at person detection, but I know it’s not Ring.
What is your back up system and did it detect all persons approaching onto your property?

Amazon reviews say the time taken for your phone to respond - the caller has left - Has your experience been like this? did you fix it? make it faster?
I can confirm that. Went to my parents house today, rang, waited, figured no-one was home because the didn't answer. Ten minutes after I left they call me and say they see I was at the door. Useless unless you have super high speed and stare at your phone all day.

Just noticed this was 7 years ago. This technology is still new to me. Back then i would of thought in 7 years they will have the ability to let out pepper spray in case of burglars

Excellent info. Need to do some more research before buying. Sounds like there are hidden cost AND, are there more OPTIONS out there that may be less expensive and or better / faster.. Alex.. My busy body neighbor is always making her truck do the beep noise when you lock it. Would that activate the microphone? She’s a nosey nelly no doubt but is she beeping her car lock twice an hour to activate the ring-bell? Does that activate a ring bell?
She doesn’t come outside, she’s locking it from in her house. 3/5 times I’m just coming in or out of mine.
Are you saying that you have to input your password every time the doorbell pings your phone ?
Is the live view on all the time? Or does it only activate when the doorbell is pressed?

I don't think the camera is in live-view. There's a few seconds of lags. That is, what we actually see happened a few seconds ago.

Hi, I have 2 questions please, if you have the time. I live in Florida, USA, way out in the country. Our power goes out a LOT and can be out for hours at a time. I don't have a doorbell already, so I was thinking of getting a Ring and charging it weekly like you said. If the power goes out, and that includes the WiFi, will it still alert my iPhone since I have a cellular data plan that I use? Or does it have to have WiFi? And what's to keep someone from ripping it off of the wall, and stealing it, along with my package? *Great video, by the way. Thank you for making it!

Can you hard wire this by mini usb? I have a power socket at the inside of my door.

I think the annual subscription fee is a total rip off, it won’t connect to WiFi unless your router is practically next to the door bell, and a poor WiFi signal means by the time it does connect, stops buffering, the caller has gone. And using the chime pro to act as a relay between the doorbell and router to boost the signal, makes no difference. Better off buying a proper cctv set up.
Update 22/11/22, it also prone to stop streaming for no reason, you have to keep setting up the chime pro and doorbell with your wifi password, having to constantly pair each device is a right PITA.

@TechFlow do you know the IP credentials for Ring Doorbell 2, ie Protocol, Management Port, Video Port, User, Pass, as want to connect to CCTV as IP camera for when I am at home..
