“Just unplug it..”? No-Call the cops if it’s a hotel or vacation rental! It’s illegal and probably at some point filmed children.
🤣
You moron. He's saying unplug it so you can verify that the wifi signal drops off and you can verify that was the source of the transmission. Do you fail at basic listening comprehension?
At the end he repeats it, but clearly doesn't mean "stop and don't do anything else". Why are people so bad at critical thinking these days?
They are going to deny it😆
If you unplug a camera, just wait for the owner to call you and tell you've removed something that doesnt belong to you. lol
That happened to me, my grand daughter took a phone charger home and they called me right away and demanded I return it. I said bill an extra $10 and buy a new one, he said no send it back. That’s when I got suspicious and checked it and found the camera
How fucked up is the society that we live in that you have to do some CIA/FBI sweep of your room to detect illegal surveillance devices before you settle into your room. Even more fucked up is that the corporation responsible is not held accountable.
Corporations are fictions of law. A corporation can't do anything. A corporation cannot go around setting up recording devices. It's the owners of the homes who are doing it.
The "corporation responsible" is the person who put the camera there. Nobody else. How is that not obvious?
Trying to blame the reservation company is like trying to blame Expedia because you found a hidden camera in an American Airlines bathroom.
Very, just watch the News!
Let's all thanks our congress for letting this slide but telling women what they should do with there vaginas huh.
You don’t have to this is just fear mongering.
If you find one, you should prob call the cops. Yikes.
@@Cuezaltzin true but is it illegal to have a camera in your own house doe ? Improper for sure and reprehensible but illegal ?
@@SuperPerfectMan It's illegal in all 50 states to put a camera in any place where a person has an expectation of privacy, without their consent. And yes, that includes in your own bathroom in your own home.
Outside of the 50 states ... who knows what the laws are.
If you find a camera and have a reasonable suspicion that you were recorded without your consent, you should absolutely call the cops.
Or unplug the homes wifi router. These cameras are connected by wifi. They normally dont record to memory cards. Turn off the houses wifi and they will be blind
Better yet bring a portable emp device.
and then use your data for the entire vacation?
@@anniesok868 Yes. I would absolutely never use an untrusted Wifi access point anyway, and neither should you.
@@anniesok868ok, then let them watch you, dumbass.
@@anniesok868what’s wrong with that? You’re on vacation, you should be enjoying the place and people you’re in and the people you’re with not be online hours a day 😂😂
In an Airbnb in Madrid there were cameras mounted in the corners of the ceiling in the living room and the bedroom. Nothing hidden. I unplugged the Wifi router and the host called to complain that I had done this. I regret now that I did not call the police. Spain has strict privacy laws. But this host was subsequently removed from Airbnb. I've often felt that Airbnb tends to coddle hosts, and "guests" tend to praise hosts despite clear deficiencies because they're afraid of being blacklisted by hosts who may leave negative comments about them.
Call cops right away
They won’t do anything 🤣🤣
@@superemesean5907 That depends on your jurisdiction.
Thanks for these tips!
So one should use ultralight tents as private dressing rooms in these places now a days?
Thanks
Thank you
Good way to start to your AirBnB stay. Ha ha ha
thanks
The airport utility doesn't work out of the box, you need to go into your iphone settings, find the airport utility app in there, and activate wifi scan. It's not enabled by default and is useless without it. Also just because something has a QR code doesn't mean it's a camera. There are a ton of smart switches (like wyze smart switches) that use qr codes to activate them on the network. If you're worried about it being a camera you could just put something in front of it to block its field of view. Also some masking tape works wonders in a pinch.
Thanks buddy
The QR code! Great tip!
Yeah never going to a effing Airbnb.
They're everywhere: hotels, airplane bathrooms, everywhere.
The challenge is learning how to protect yourself, not "avoid AirBnb".
@@Tim.Foster123 there’s a difference between hidden cameras and the ones that are out in the open.
@@gauravaws20 I do mean there are +hidden+ cameras everywhere.
At least, they have certainly been found everywhere
Peeping toms removing all the QR codes now haha
Just because something has a QR code or a wifi signal doesn’t mean it is a camera. Could be a thermostat, motion sensor, smart lock bridge, etc.
Ok, but what about the ones that are recording offline to SD cards?
Time to peel away the QR code labels now home owners huh. LMAO
but you cant reach smokedetectors... or cant remove it right?
You can see if there’s a hole for a camera. It’s usually quite obvious.
Most smoke detectors are hardwired and have a dedicated breaker. Turn off the breaker and remove it from the wall or ceiling
Stick some tape over the sensors during your stay.
There is an invention called
Wait for it
Stepladder 😂
@@drcoffee5588 Not a good idea. Smoke detectors are there for a reason.
All the creeps going and ripping off those bar codes off the back*
😂😂 and when you find one of those hidden cameras you go find the owner of the Airbnb and you handle business however you have to by any means necessary and I do mean any means necessary😂
Or just steal it and sell it on eBay. Owner won’t complain you took his hidden camera he tried to use to spy on you. Free airbnb!
So how do you check for trail cams?
Trail cams are very obvious, usually attached to a tree, they're quite large, they're probably 6 in long by 5 in wide and 5 in deep.
How about smart Tv
Unpower it
So much work 😂. Just take foil with you and cover any electronic device u don’t need with it while you’re there 😂.
Scary
Renting an extra day just for checking cameras 😅
What you show is/was old scholl knowledge. I had one (cheap one) which view in color and sound through a Phillips Screw center (pinhole) of a 110v wall outlet
why you have that?
What if that smoke alarm and fire alarm has a camera? They both usually keep blinking..
Just turn off the Wi-Fi when u get there. Most devices don’t record to memory cards.
"Joe" can scan me anytime 🤩
About twenty years ago, my cousin told me that his friend and his wife had found a camera hidden in the ceiling of the bedroom of a flat they had rented in London. They took it to the police, who did not know what to do with it and said it was not illegal
Carbon monoxide detectors may need to connect to WiFi to report an event, hence the QR code
what are even the penalties for those? like what would someone get who secretly filmed the bedroom of a family with children?
Depending on jurisdiction, 6mos to 1yr in prison.
Why is airbnb not held accountable when they have admitted that they do not report to the police when they are alerted about cameras in rentals. Why does the FBI not investigate them? It's a crime to conceal a crime especially when it involves minors. Airbnb is aiding criminals and sweeping their crimes under the rug.
Because their Terms of Use that folks agree to bar the possibility.
Unplug? There are many devices nowadays that are powered by batteries. Of course they don't last long, but hidden in another bigger device they could be charged too.
I do not frequent Airbnb's!
😅
I was wondering why they said never come back here again to my pony and I.
1. you can't find all the cameras
2. don't use airbnbs
3. a woman said to use a tent on the bed
If the home is wired up with legitimate "smart" devices, such as light switches and power outlets. Anyone looking would become very concerned at all the Wi-Fi devices found. Smart homes are getting more common, and it's inexpensive to purchase and hook up.
They make devices that can detect camera lenses.
I figured it was the “smoke detector”….
Good tips, go unplug everything with power and turn it upside down. Scummy for sure.
A very simple technique I use to avoid this problem is something we call voting with your dollars. That company allows these problems to continue. Don't give them your money.
Airbnb hasn't publicly addressed this
Why only Airbnb is blamed for this?
find the router, unplug it. sorted
What about cameras police might use in n your house
I'll bet you're 'asking for a friend' who's in waste recycling.
A lot of those devices plugged into outlets are suppose to be connected to wi-fi because they are remotely operated by the user to eg., turn on/off lights or a lamp, etc. Many of these devices nowadays have this feature it does not mean that there is a camera. Besides, what use is a camera at the low level of an electrical outlet? This video was not very helpful and the 'expert' did not seem all that great TBH. Overall disappointing video WP.
If you have to check you shouldn’t be using Air BNbullshit.
😅
Don't rent these kind of homes. Easy.
Airbnb let's them record kids? Wow what an EVIL company
It's the host, not Airbnb, how could they possibly control something like this.
@@westbccoastif someone renting has proof the owner has cameras and provides such proof to Airbnb they should remove owner from the site and they don’t do that so yeah, they don’t care
Then, don't go to _ucking Airbnb!
