Time for another Uhaul 6 x 12 Trailer Review. However, this time I'm providing step by step instructions on the proper way to pack and load the trailer for a long distance move. We are towing with a 2005 Toyota Highlander. We are moving the contents of a one bedroom apartment that if packed improperly would likely not fit. However, you will be amazed at what a little planning and organization can do to help provide you a stress free move across the country or just across town.
Moving from the bay to Reno and this video is great! I’m convince the 6x12 is the way to go!

Balance the load for excellent mpg. The 2 wheel 6X12 is wonderful for small SUVs like this. Also, most important, the hydraulic braking plug and play, no control needed, is a huge bonus. Works off inertia. Great feature.
Properly packed, 396 cubic feet, plan for 300-325. I use these a lot for what I do.
Always bring small floor jack , el cheapo, in case needed as it has no jack.

Thank you so much for this video!! I'm about to do my first big move across the country with furniture and I want to haul everything using my Toyota Tacoma. I've been struggling with visualizing the space in the trailer sizes, as they didn't have any on the lot for me to see in person. This helped out A LOT. I've decided to get this size, since I have a feeling not everything will fit into the other sizes and I want to avoid multiple trips. This helps so much! I have a 2011 Subaru Outback 6 cylinder , all wheel drive, and am moving this weekend from FL to NC and am pulling a 6 by 12. My biggest item is an L shaped sectional but scaled back alot otherwise.
My mechanic and Uhaul have helped me... I am nervous. Driving alone with my dog. Whew, this helps!

Did you fit everything in the trailer?
@@Renvega77 U-Haul couldn’t gaurentee we would have one for our moving day and I couldn’t take that risk. A family member bought a cargo trailer that was bigger than this one and let us use it as well as their truck bed. It wouldn’t have fit if we just did the U-Haul I think.
@Renvega77 Yes, everything fits fine. You just have to be super organized and use the same size boxes as mentioned in video is the key.

I am moving from Alberta to Atlanta and thinking of getting a 6x12 trailer. Still not sure if it will fit all my 1 bdrm apartment furniture. I Need to do some homework this weekend. Got a quote for $6,000 USD to ship my stuff which is really overpriced.
I always advise to add up the value of the things you have along with replacement cost and usually it will be cheaper to downsize, use a small trailer and avoid shipping cost. We often had estate sale companies come in and sell for us. Made the process very simple. Good luck on the move to Atlanta!

I am needing to do a emergency move from texas to Oklahoma using a 06 ford expedition i have three queen bed with three dressers and end tables have two big bookcases, washer dryer and electric stove and fridge would it fit all that in this size trailer
Not sure that will all fit but I might recommend you measure each item and then go to the Uhaul website and look at dimensions for the 6x12 trailer to see how you might configure everything to fit. However, given the items you listed I'm pretty sure you could not fit any extra boxes. At the same time it may work if you only have 3 queen mattresses with no box springs it may all fit.
How do you lock the uhaul onto your vehicle? I don’t see a place like a normal trailer.
They make sure everything is secure for you when you pick up trailer. Trust me, it was all good with no issues from Tennessee to Arizona.
I was told my van (2012 toyota sienne le ,V6) can tow 3500 . Do you think a 6x12 would work or better w 5x8?
I've done both 5×8 and 6x12 with my highlander so pretty sure you could too.

I have a queen size bed/2 dressers/electric fireplace/computer desk/cube storage organizer. You think theres a chance all of that will fit in a 6x12 ill use my suv for clothes and boxes and a tv

How much was the rental price ?
Jack how did you park at the Motel with the 6 x 12 Uhaul Trailer?
It's never a problem. Most all hotels have extended parking spots in designated area. Have gone cross country with this size trailer multiple times and never had an issue. Of course, you can always call ahead as you make reservations to confirm parking situation with your hotel.

Will king size bed fit?
Pretty sure a King Size bed will not fit due to the height of trailer which is right around 6 feet. However, it might. I would suggest you measure the mattress against trailer height. As mentioned in video there is absolutely no problem with queen mattress but of course as a general rule they are only 5 feet wide. Hope this helps.

@@pmarie6742 you could possibly fold it if you don't think it would damage it. However, a king size without folding will not fit. Or you could roll it and wrap it with shrink wrap to save space.

It sounds like it will if you take my tips and use same size boxes for miscellaneous items. They key is to be organized and not have a lot of loose items. Of course without seeing all you have I can't be completely sure. You might consider selling the L shape couch to insure plenty of room. In the past we have sold couches and found excellent replacements on sites like Wayfair at very reasonable prices. Good luck and try not to worry. I remember anytime I would ask my sweet wife if she was worried she would reply saying..."why, would it help?"
Can my 2012 Kia sorento pull a 6x12?
I'm not sure, but if you go on the U Haul website, you can enter your cars information, and it will tell you what the maximum size trailer your Sorrento can tow. Hope this helps.
You can pull a Uhaul 6x12 with pretty much any SUV or sedan. They move them by hand. They weigh less than a Geo Metro.

Unfortunately no, queen size is the largest mattress and box spring it will accommodate.

How much you pay for rent the trailer for day
It varies depending on location and where you are going. There are daily rates as well as longer rental rates which this was long distance rate where I had the trailer for a week. I think this rental was around $450 but it's been a while and i don't recall the exact cost. If you visit the UHaul website you can get a free online quote.
Does anyone actually adhere to the 55 MPH “max” speed?
Yes for a split second on the way to 80.
