I’m a truck driver I drive 18 wheelers for ppl who don’t know you want more weight up front so you have a lesser chance of fish tailing at all. If you have most of your weight in the back of the trailer you have a high chance of fish tailing.

What are some things I should keep in mind while I’m driving? Other than than the speed limit. I’m a year into driving so don’t want to assume I’m fine as is.
One of the common mistakes about the towing capacity is thinking that is mostly engine power. But is not. I have a 1999 Jeep GC WJ, that is 6800 Lbs towing capacity, and the engine "only" has 240 HP. And I towed on several long trips a TT that weights 5200 and is 23 foot long. without issues. BUT the jeep has the factory towing package and brake controller. The uhaul trailers has a "made by them" brake system that helps a lot. and is actioned but the weight back to the hitch. BUT the factory towing package is not just a receiver. The jeep comes with bigger brakes, bigger radiator, different differential ratio, and (most important) transmission radiator. So, your car has a label on your driver door that indicates the max towing capacity of the factory configuration. Adding an aftermarket hitch wont increment that capacity. Definitely tow without issues, looks like almost nothing, but couple of emergency braking, or a cross wind, or incoming traffic, etc, could lead to a awful accident. Just do the correct numbers, and always obey the max towing capacity indicated on the door label without after market modifications (like lift kit, or tire size change).
@@TommyLGarage Oh! I just looked. The stealth only increases your limit to 6,000lbs with XC90. I assumed it was like the X5 that increases the limit to 7700. However the XC90 is a very nice car car though.

John Deer has lost one battle on this front already . If I own a car I will not pay rent for the heated seats . We need to stand strong and stop this. I EXPECT MORE FROM A CAR GUY! Starting in 2026 your car is going to watch how you are driving and shut down if it does not like it . (that is a slight over simplification but you get the point )I predict that will be when we revolt . Addtionally I do not oppose progress, but the chip key is more expensive, more error prone, and real theft is when the put the car on a flat bed and taken to a chop shop. True progress is a product that is more reliable, lower cost and has an improved main function. I have a 2018 Subaru Outback Limited 2.5l 4cyl. Dealer installed OEM Class I hitch. Based on YT videos - I believe I can attach either the closed 4x8 or 5x8 enclosed trailer (850lbs and 900lbs empty). I still can’t figure out how much weight I can put in the trailer or inside the car. Allowable towing is 2,700 lbs on the driver side sticker. But internet says if it’s a single axle no brake trailer should only tow 1,000 lbs. There will be 2 adults in the car

@@TommyLGarage Funny. I picked mine up yesterday. The dude had it hitched before I could get out of my truck, so I didn’t see how he hooked it up. I drove off. Got home, loaded my trailer. A few hours later my wife notices that my truck had a flat, back left passenger side. I had run over a lag bolt. It was buried in my tread. Turned out it was a 5 inch bolt. No big deal. I had to change the tire. I have a lifted Ford F-250 Super Duty. So first I have to unhitch the trailer. I had a friend come over to assist. We’d never seen this new fancy trailer connection. Where was the jack and turn crank?? We thought, maybe it was electronic. No …. Maybe some new form of hydraulics? No. I’ve pulled trailers all my life. All trailers have some type of jack and crank attached to the trailer … not this one. So I called U-Haul. The guy at headquarters (sounded like a customer service rep from Singapore). He told me there has never been a jack attachment to ANY U-Haul trailers in more than 30 years. I hung up on him. I’m 62 years old, and yes, I’ve hauled many a U-Haul in my lifetime. I ended up having to take the hydraulic jack out of my wife’s Jeep. Found a cinder block, thank God, up against a neighbor’s foundation 3 houses down, and lifted the trailer high enough for me to unhitch. Had to use a couple 2x4’s to get trailer arm set high enough. Took tire to local shop and waited for them to repair the tire. 3 hours later, I was hooked back up. What an ordeal. So yes, not ONE UA-cam video goes over this or explains this or describes the possibility of this happening. Not even the Official U-Haul website mentions this. What if I had been pulling the trailer 20 miles from no where, and I had blown a tire on the U-Haul trailer? How would I have been able to detach the trailer and drive my truck for assistance? Anyways, it’s a HUGE flaw, not having the jack and crank attached to the trailer arm. I certainly appreciate your smart ass response, “it’s easy”. Jerk.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS VIDEO. It is a very bad idea to state that is easy to drive such a trailer especially for anyone who has few attempts and/or experience doing it as well without a few practice runs on an open area or filed just to start with. You also state that it is ok to go above the recommended speed limit of 55mph as documented and recommended by Uhaul themselves. There is an absolute reason and purpose for staying within that 55pmh range but your documented speed of 63mph is not something that Uhaul approves nor do I as a driver with experience in riding and using this exact trailer. You don't speak or document turns which is another key factor and reason why one must take a few Practice runs in a controlled area and setting.
Agree on the turning part people need to stay aware of turning radius being different with a trailer behind them but 55mph is a little too cautious don’t make sharp movements and over speed by a ton and you’ll be fine. No ones gonna move states going 55 the whole way

I was a transfer driver for U-Haul, & we used to do 65-70 mph with trailers. They're sturdy built & no issues.

Honestly I think you might be fine BUT I know some have broken the rear leaf springs doing so.
