- We moved across the country from Los Angeles, California to South Florida. We attached a 6x12 trailer to our suv and loaded up safely. In this video you will learn about the safety rules and steps needed for these services with Uhaul! We chose Uhaul because it was the most comfortable and safest option for my family and I. If I had to do this again and when I do move again, I will without a doubt go with Uhaul every time. They provided peace of mind, provided services that made this move less stressful and we safely arrived in South Florida!

Moving Across The Country With Kids And Uhaul. Cross Country Move. Cross Country Move With Kids. Driving across the country with kids.
We are traveling from Virginia to Texas and thinking about getting the small 4x8… Was it hard to drive? I’m worried it will be hard or get stolen if we stop at a hotel. It’s just me and 3 kids. Nobody to help drive…😩
Hey! It was surprisingly a lot easier than I thought it would be. We even drove in the rain with no problems. You just have to keep in mind you will be driving slower than usual because of the weight being carried in the trailer. As for it getting stolen, they do have locks! We stayed at RV stops and made sure to bring pillows and blankets and slept on the car.. If you will be stopping at a hotel, id make sure to ask for one facing the parking lot so you can keep an eye on your trailer! But again, they do have locks for them!
Excellent question! Girl I’m on the same page. I’m moving from Washington to California. Most of the roads in Oregon are curves. How do I drive on curves? The 4x8 is also what I’m thinking of renting but I’m so worried.
@@ttm709 I'm not sure about driving on curvy roads as out travel didn't have much of that , but the link below on haul's website has great tips for safety!

Yes super easy, I do it alone. They put it on for u at uhaul.
Omgosh your life sounds just like mine. 3 kids just me, maryland (very close to Virginia)… How did it go? Did you leave or not yet? I’d love an update
So happy I found this . I have the same Durango rt Hemi. I was going to use my dad truck but now I can just use mines
Well, at least your Durango was able to pull that 6x12 Cargo Trailer from U-Haul, getting a trailer hitch installed, & the hitch ball.
I'm about to do the opposite move from Michigan to LA. Watching videos like this is so helpful.
Good luck on your move!
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I learned.
Thank you for making this video❤
Hope it helps!
thanks for sharing this , you are a beautiful family. I'm about to head from Seattle to Deland Fl and found your video. , excellent tips. . Thank You for sharing.
Thank you! Hope you had a great move!
I’m going to tow a 6x12 for the first time? Any tips please???
Moving from Oregon to Texas so Came to watch this video. Thanks 😊
I'm about to do the same move alone. Did you tow a trailer ? How did it go?
Hope this helped!
Hi thanks for the videos was you able to move a king size mattress?
This helps so much! I have a 2011 Subaru Outback 6 cylinder , all wheel drive, and am moving this weekend from FL to NC and am pulling a 6 by 12. My biggest item is an L shaped sectional but scaled back alot otherwise.
My mechanic and Uhaul have helped me... I am nervous. Driving alone with my dog. Whew, this helps!
You got this!
Me and 7 kids are moving to Arizona in a few months and this video was given to me for a reason thank you 🙏🏾
Good luck on your move! You got this!
Your kid screaming “we’re moving to Florida!” Earned you a like on the video from me 😁 that’s where I wanna move!!
Florida is by far our favorite place to live out of all the places we''ve been!
How much stuff fits in there?
That's one long ride back home! Good idea to stay in RV park. Would u say that size trailer fits a 1bdrm or 2 berm apt? I'm undecided between the 5x8 and 6x12.
Yes, definitely a long drive!! We fit a 3 bedroom 2story home in there by only taking essentials. I think a 1 or 2 should fit!
Hi thanks for your video! What size trailer did you get?
We attached a 6x12 trailer!
Is that one heavy to remove by yourself? I remember the 5x8 being ok for me bit a little heavy.
I did not have to attach this myself. My partner did, but it was fairly easy by the looks of it!
Dude this looked like it must have been the longest trip ever! But glad it all worked out with the uhaul! Looking forward to more Florida content it looks beautiful! ❤️❤️
Girl you have no idea!! It was about 4 days long. Luckily we were in our own vehicle which made the trip so comfortable!
Steph!! I didn't realize you guys moved back to florida !! So excited !! Hope you guys are going to be doing more videos :)
Thank you love! So happy to be in Florida! Lot's of more videos coming!
Hey! I have the same car. Did you guys not have a tow hitch under that cover in the middle of the bumper?
No we didn't! & Dodge wanted to charge so much to install that for us and wanted us to wait a few weeks (this was a last minute move)
I was thinking that too! Like what’s under the fascia cover?! 🤔🤔🤔
@@Hallux99 stock place holder, if you don’t opt in for the option it’s just empty under the case.
How much does it cost to drop off in another state? I can’t find it on their website.
Hello, i believe it depends where. I cannot remember how much it was for us to drop off in FL!
My son has to get snacks every trip we plan on moving before my son starts school this Year
Good luck on your move!
I've been to that Same Gas station!!!! In Texas Dallas
🙌🙌🙌
Snapple apple is the best🙂
It is!
What’s the fastest you guys were driving?
We drove pretty slow especially in the windier states; we felt more comfortable at 50mph. Better safe than sorry! The recommended was 55mph!
How much was it? I’m moving to Texas from California. May sell furniture instead
I don't remember exactly how much it was, but it was a little over a grand. Texas is a lot closer than Florida though. We did sell a lot and only took what was essential. So basically our rooms, and like important things!
I am concered about the security of the trailer. Do people disconnect the trailer and steal it when you are sleeping at a hotel? What to do to prevent? I will be going coast to coast and dont want to get my stuff stolen. Also, what if they break the lock in the back?
That is a very good question. We had a lock on our hitch, it came with a key. BUT I do have to tell you, we did not opt for staying in a hotel. Our car was very spacious and we brought pillows/blankets and slept at the rest stops. The weather this time of year was great in all the states we drove through so we didn’t have to worry about keeping the car on!
@TheMomfluence I wanted to put stuff in my suv too and the trailer. Maybe it's better to get a bigger size trailer to make room in the suv and sleep inside.
@@ike7539 that’s definitely a good option. We did have stuck in our suv as well. But like the things we would need while traveling (clothes, pillows, blankets, snacks and drinks) & any last minute things we decided to take after the trailer was already closed lol as long as our daughter was comfortable, we were happy!
Was your Durango a v6 or v8??
It’s an RT so a v8!
Did you really drive 55 mph for the whole trip from California to Florida??? That would have driven me nuts.
Yes! Better safe than sorry. We had our trailer FULL.
So the solution is to buy a new car lol WTF this is unreasonable and unrealistic 🤦🏽♀️
This is what worked for my family! 🙃
