Serj's choice of phrasing and great understanding + feel for a good melody are really present on this track. Those chorus vocals are tight! You don't notice on the full mix, and Daron's vocals also mask Serj a little but listen to those notes he's hitting. He's hitting those notes dead on pitch, with fantastic vibrato and just listen to that distortion he's generating in his own voice. The power on that outro chorus is huge and surprisingly I can't hear much pitch correction being used at all really. I'm sure they did use it on some notes but his delivery in the studio would have been pretty much what you hear on this track, that voice is pretty much raw, untouched Serj with a fair bit of compression, and maybe a little distortion to help the powerful notes cut through the mix Very impressive though! You should check out Daron's part as well, there's some great harmonisation in play on this song and Daron can sing falceto very well, alot better than people give him credit for.
A little bit of reverb, overdubs of whispering coming in between his lines, that first scream was doubled up, and daron's alternating lines overdubbed. Not much special editing here, suprisingly clean vocal track.

I thought I noticed pitch correction when he flipped from a high note low and low to high. More specifically from 2:10-2:15. Either way I'm impressed

Serj's choice of phrasing and great understanding + feel for a good melody are really present on this track. Those chorus vocals are tight! You don't notice on the full mix, and Daron's vocals also mask Serj a little but listen to those notes he's hitting. He's hitting those notes dead on pitch, with fantastic vibrato and just listen to that distortion he's generating in his own voice. The power on that outro chorus is huge and surprisingly I can't hear much pitch correction being used at all really. I'm sure they did use it on some notes but his delivery in the studio would have been pretty much what you hear on this track, that voice is pretty much raw, untouched Serj with a fair bit of compression, and maybe a little distortion to help the powerful notes cut through the mix
Very impressive though! You should check out Daron's part as well, there's some great harmonisation in play on this song and Daron can sing falceto very well, alot better than people give him credit for.

A little bit of reverb, overdubs of whispering coming in between his lines, that first scream
was doubled up, and daron's alternating lines overdubbed. Not much special editing here, suprisingly clean vocal track.

I thought I noticed pitch correction when he flipped from a high note low and low to high. More specifically from 2:10-2:15. Either way I'm impressed
