This track isolation also really demonstrates how amazingly well their voices blended and why the combination of incredibly talented band members had SOAD churning out so many magical tunes.

The lack of Daron's singing is what's making some parts of Serj's vocals sound a bit flatter than you're used to. Serj actually sings the harmony part for the chorus so that bit sounds extra weird without Daron providing melody.

Oh the half of this band that's fucking nuts. John is the most consistent member of this band and his drumming is so good that Serj and Daron both had him support their solo breakouts. Serj is also just a stupidly competent and unique vocalist and a very strong instrumentalist and a very good songwriter. And while I think Daron is a stronger songwriter, I don't actually think he's a stronger guitarist. That's subjective as hell, however.
I watched an interview and Daron said hes actually started off as a drummer and that guitar isnt his first choice of instrument. He said he always had a drummers way of approaching songs and melodies

@@hadalabyssI agree, but what most people (including me) mean by no auto tune is that they don’t rely on the auto tune to do the singing for them like a lot of artists today sadly
Most artists don't do that at all and even if they did it's probably an interesting stylistic choice rather than something to be sad about lol
@@tbf79alexis also what you're thinking of is more like what vocoders do and those are cool as shit, check out Carson Elliot, or the general rich history of vocoders since like the 70s because modifying one's voice for one reason or another has been a thing for very long and is rarely just a crutch
