I'm learning this song right now actually, It IS hard - but not as hard as it sounds. Once you've got the vocal fry technique down, it's just about maintaining it. The difficulty lies in threading that narrow line between not enough force to make the vocal fry effect, but not too much that you strip your throat while also changing pitch as required, but as long as you nail that it's actually surprisingly easy on the voice. The real challenge for me in this song so far has been how QUICKLY he switches between vocal fry and regular voice at times, it can be hard to transition your voice that quickly.
@@radioactiverat8751 There’s a certain technique metal vocalists use where it doesn’t necessarily strain their voice. I’m assuming they prob use the same thing?
@@AnthonyA1995Dude, look up “complete vocal institute”, they call the distortion Serj is doing a “rattle” and it has very little to do with fry screaming. The voice is incredibly complex, and “rattle” is still one of the most difficult vocal techniques there is.
CAUTION! For anyone trying to replicate Serj’s vocal distortion, look up “complete vocal institute“. They call the type of distortion Serj is doing, “rattle”, but rattle may mean many other techniques in other places.
That's exactly why im here i was just listening to this song and this part keeps getting my attention so I finally decided to listen to vocal only version of the song and wasn't disappointed his voice is great

2:39 This is the type of yell you rarely attempt to keep from blowing your voice out. Serj is unbelievably talented.

@@AnthonyA1995 jeez I can’t read that long
Didn’t he actually hurt his voice though? Most of the songs from Soad have these harsh sounding yells.

There is, man! I only searched for a "vocal only" version because i heard that on the original and thought i was getting schizophrenic 😂
I love how some people say his vocals are bad or that he can’t sing 😂 I’m fucking dead
Anyone else play all the isolated tracks at the same time?
Thats psychotic
