If the rumored Toyota Stout actually materializes in N. America (at the 'rumored' price point), Toyota will have genuine trouble producing enough of them quickly enough. Given the profits Toyota is pulling the last 3-5 years and their dealer's asking prices (ie: 'market adjustments)....I don't expect an American version of the Stout to actually happen. As proposed, it's too sensible.

Right, I just got my wife a 23 Limited nightshade. I am lucky as the franchise I own has access to Toyota employee pricing. I got it for for $39,500 (sticker was $47,500). Its not a bad truck (our 1st Taco). But all and all my 21 Ranger, in my opinion, is a better truck. More room, more power, WAY better at towing out 22ft camper, and for me is much more comfortable. But she is more comfortable in the Taco as you sit more on the floor vs a captain's chair style of seating. So she loves it and that makes me happy. But I am glad we got a 23 though.

I have nothing against turbos, hell I love turbo engines. Especially diesels
(Psst, Toyota if you are listening I’d absolutely LOVE to see you send the Hilux’s turbo diesel here please and thank you lol)
But just like in the 80s most turbo gas engines just don’t seem to be as bulletproof as a bigger N/A engine.
Not really as big of an issue for passenger cars, but these are trucks, and I don’t know a single Taco owner that wants to give up their V6. Hell most I know either wish they had the 4.0 back over the 3.5 or are still hanging onto the 4.0. Nothing against the 3.5 but the 4.0 was a tank of an engine. One of my buddies has if I recall correctly nearly 400k miles, actually may be over 400k now as he’s been away drilling for a few months since I’ve seen him last lol
I’ve not personally seen a 3.5 get there yet, but I have seen a few 200k-300k miles on them and they seem to be holding up pretty well too.
These are your customer base Toyota, if this turbo 4 doesn’t cut it you very well may lose your customers to other trucks that do still offer a N/A V6.

Yes, the sun is shining, the road is paved and flat...and the cameras are rolling. What could possibly go wrong?
How about a long-term reliability report (that is yet to come) to see how smart it was for Toyota to get rid of the venerable V6 and put a 4 cylinder in a truck that has gotten larger and heavier over the years. It doesn't take a genius to realize you have to run that 4 at far higher RPMs to get the power you need (that you would have had at lower RPMs with the 6) and that means shorter engine life.

Beware my mechanic brought the new Tundra which he regrets. Paid over $75k for it new from Longo Toyota. The v6 uses more gasoline than his v8 also brought new 10 years old for $37k get much better gas mileage. That said stay away from turbo charged engine. Most small truck owners wants simple & reliability for daily use dont need much or any technologies no gps no satellite radio no dual climate control. Most truck people can & know how to drive. Seems toyota going the wrong direction.

Still rolling in my 1995 Tacoma 4x4 LX. After 28 yrs of driving it, I had thoughts of buying another Tacoma, but now it won't be some 2.4l turbo blah blah blah for how many arms and legs worth of money🤨. Where is the V6? Maybe I'm old or out of touch, but I want a large displacement motor without a Prius electric setup. Putting a turbo on a small engine that's fine in a Corolla or GT86, but this is not in a Tacoma. I know I can't be the only one who feels this way?

At least they kept the manual transmission, so props for that.
Let’s hope that Toyota listens to their customers and brings back the V6
A regular cab option would be nice to see again as well
