I’ve been looking at a vest similar to that for years but can never find any video reviews of them but after this and hearing what you said I’m gonna get one for sure !
Moving to Mass soon with a kayak and will be spearing Stripers (attempting). This was on point for me!!!! Thank you!!!! ***And that safety vest was a must i havent even heard of them.
Always interested in how other people rig their kayak up to spearfish from. Have you made any adjustments to the kayak in order to help spearfishing from it?
How do anchor your kayak? Do you anchor it to the reef and swim free or are you connected to the kayak in some way? Im concerned about a possible scenario where the kayak is swept away by a strong current when you resurface and you have to swim fast to catch your kayak (eg- after you shoot a fish that runs a long way-eg-:big GTs)
anchoring is super important. there are a couple items you need, such as a trolley to keep your kayak oriented in the current correctly. i suggest researching anchoring a kayak thoroughly before attempting to jump in and out of one. hope that helps.
You have to be scuba diving to get the Benz, the amount of air you breath before you go under is all you have, thus you don’t have an over accumulation of air in your lungs and body when you come back up. It’s only if you’re able to inhale air at a higher pressure(more depth) that you can suffer from the Benz.

Hi Jim, I’ve always been interested in doing spearfishing from a kayak...does one have to be a competent swimmer?

Great, clear and concise gear vid. Thanks.
I was actually hoping there was some details of how to make it work on the Kayak.
where can i get that vest ?
After you shoot the fish you Measure it? What happens if it is short. ?
I throw it back or feed it to a big goliath
dont mess up
Good video.
This is a hobby i really wamt to get into! So a 75 cm gun is fully capable for the average diver
Depends where you dive, best to ask in local shop/s (more then one so you can see are they trying to sell or they try to help) ;)
Make a spearfishing video for kayaking but uses a boat to get out there?
What about an anchor setup?
Thank you Big Jim.
I've never even considered spear fishing.
Do not reccomend these floatation device if your deep enough and use this good luck with hypoxia and the bends
