Hi, this video is very educational for the beginner, your explanation on the use of the equipment and safety tips is quite good. One thing i would like to know is if diving with a buddy is essential when shore diving in shallow waters.
Hello and sorry for the delayed response. Starting out I can only recommend it until you're 100% comfortable in the water. I don't always dive with a buddy as I find having too many people in the water scares the fish off. It's much safer though
Kind of random tip for you man: If you catch a lobster and only have a stringer, shoot it in the face and then pull your stringer through the hole you just created lol. Works in a pinch if you can get the lobster to stay still enough somewhere.
I skipped forward and the “crocs” section I thought oh cool he’s Aussie like me, despite the accent, and he is gunna have some cool safety tips about crocs 🐊. Nope wrong crocs

The only thing... If you said you'll be at 18:00 and didn't return, man... in the best case your relatives will find your cold body. But most probably they won't. Guys, don't fool yourself - spearfishing is a dangerous sport, and if poo hits the fan, most probably you will be dead. Can you make a vid about this? Before u say take a free diving course or whatever, aint nothing like that around me!! IF I WANTED TO SPEARFISH WITH YOU :) what basics do i need to know?
Getting comfortable in the water and relaxing is the easiest way to increase your breath hold. Get used to all of the gear you're using. My breath up normally consists of 2-3mins relaxed breathing with very limited movement on the surface, when i feel ready to dive i go down. Once you have duck dived, swim at a 90 degree angle to the bottom and find some seaweed to hang onto
@@TheOutdoor_Guy Whats a breath up? This is stuff i need to know!!! How do you do it? And since im new to DIVING i need to know, HOW DO YOU KNOW THERES NO MAN EATING SHARKS WHILE JUMPING IN? Is jumping into the deep blue ever scary???

Want to try this and have fins, old mask & snorkel, dive knife and polespear. Should I rent a SUP and get an anchor on a rope to store stuff when I'm under? Desire to shore start.
You can do although I would argue that is going to complicate things to start with. You're better off just swimming out from the beach ect. Less gear and equipment to have to worry about. Also Bass spine can pierce the SUP if you're not careful
Hey man I wanted to ask for advice, I'm not really new to spearfishing but what I've done until now isn't much compared to the stuff I see on videos, my knowledge on the topic isn't great either. Usually I go fishing very near the coast (like 100m from land) and bring with me my SEAC sting 65(25 inches), the depth is about 4-5m but I rarely find good stuff, do u think I should upgrade my harpoon to a 75 and go further from the coast? Any other advice is appreciated, I'm trying to get anything going from bass to groupers (Btw I'm my zone the water is definitely on the warmer side, I usually dive without a suit)
A longer gun will mean you have better range but can also slow down the movement of tracking the fish underwater. Only go deeper and further if you have experience and know the tides and currents. You may find that having a wetsuit (thin 2-3mm) may help in keeping you hidden underwater and will allow fish to come in closer. In warmer water fish tend to be deeper. Hope that helps
I have still yet to go even after owning a wet suit for pushing 2 summers , i was talking to Daniel man and he says you should aim to be 1 km off shore for spearfishing , you have an opinion on this advice , also at 1000m offshore what is the depth usually , i know its variable ofc , i was just assuming 1km offshore was usually 60+m deep ?
You need to get in this summer! I personally think there is no need to go out that far for fish, not only is it a long way if something were to go wrong but it also isn't necessary. It all depends on your area. 60% of my bass taken during 2020 were in water no deeper than 15 only 100m from the shore.
@@TheOutdoor_Guy I am in south wales most of our water is Bristol channel your talking 200 miles to west wales Pembroke fishguard etc , for me near Brecon that is the same distance as traveling to London where i used to work as a bailiff lol , i guess I'm traveling then ... pray this crap ends or my suit may well perish before i ever get it on lol

Great video, but as a spearo who has moved to the uk from another country and I am only now about to start spearfishing here what is your advice about currents. They seem worrying here in uk. We didn't have to bother with those stuff in the Med
It all depends on the area. Where I live, I know that the tides can't sweep me out to sea as the tide runs parallel with the coast. Further out to sea it can be a bit more challenging but nothing to worry about if you have done your research. Where is it you're planning on diving?
@@TheOutdoor_Guy Thanks for the reply. Mostly around Cornwall or places around Brighton as I live in London, so basically in the South shore of England. My main question is are they strong enough, that even an experienced swimmer can't swim against?
@@aldogjipali2835 I'm not sure about the London area but I know that there isn't anything strong enough to sweep me away down here in Devon. Speak to some locals and find out what they say 👍 I hope that helps
There is very little that someone with diving fins can’t swim against - especially if they are up on a hard board float. There are very strong tides between islands etc here but nothing down your way.
