If someone asked me if there was a locomotive I would want this would be it! So beautiful! The PRR has a very elegant colors that makes it stand out. Very classy but a modern executive feel to it. Even next to the NS it doesn't look like it has aged a bit. I've always have a spot in my heart for the E7's. Love the ditch lights that they added to it like icing on a cake. A touch of modernization to a old legend and a testament of the E7's. I wish I can see it in person.
As kids, my brothers and I would regularly head down to the Main Line (between Philly and Harrisburg) early on Saturday mornings to see the mail train pulled by E8’s. I’ll never forget that-
It's obvious you went to a lot of trouble to chase this train around the Keystone State. You did a really magnificent super fantastic job. Way to go. Among the best quality rail fan productions ever. What kind of camera did you use? Thank you for the great effort.
o00o00ozy Not a problem, Eric! Hey ya can't control the weather, you did a bangin' job man! Everything that's good runs in tough conditions like 90% of the time lol.
+Dan Davis hey ,if anyone else wants to learn about how to apply for a railroad job try Debuncar Railroad Jobs Aid (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my mate got excellent success with it.
Great video- Loved the 'mini Broadwway' on the move (despite being on a former Reading RR line). It's a pocket sttreamliner, but it runs like it used to be
Read in Trains Magazine way back, that Amtrak liked the Es and approached EMD about building more of them. But, the carbody blueprint had been thrown away, so producing more Es was prohibitively expensive.
JOHNRAIL& RACEFAN88 Thanks for the video. I was privileged to ride on an 18-car special from DC to Philly and back pulled by Mr. Levin's magnificent E-8's. The special train transported ambulatory military personnel from Walter Reed Army Hospital and Bethesda Naval Hospital. They were transported, fed and treated to the annual Army-Navy football game at Lincoln Financial Center Stadium in 2010. Hats off to Bennett Levin and all of the AAPRCO members who contributed their cars. Apostle Roscoe J. Dabney III Payson, Arizona
@@MBTAMoreRailfan nahh. Not even a competition. NS pretty much took 2 GP38s and put Cowl bodies on them. These are classic PRR power. Imagine these 2 chocolate engines pulling that chocolate colored OCS train. Talk about foam
Set-ups are nice AWAY from grade crossings. The horns get very annoying after awhile and they ALWAYS distort. Nice quality video! Very professional. Set ups down wind of the crossing a ways loose much if not all distortion. I do digital sound recording and the grade crossings off in the distance are much more appealing letting the sounds of the locos dominate when at source of recording. These are just my thots from years of doing this and are in no way meant to demean you wonderful videos.
I'm glad NS is always open to letting whatever kind of train run on their tracks, assuming they have all the right equipment & everything. News flash CSX, its called public relations, oh wait, they have the worst service in the railroad industry, so I guess that's out of the question.
These are absolutely gorgeous diesels but it's too bad about those anachronistic ditch lights. Historic equipment should be exempt from that requirement.
You know how sometimes when you flip a light switch, there may be a delay before the light turns on. This may possibly be the case here. The circuit or the bulbs may need to be looked at.

A blast from the past..A average PRR passenger train from the 60s minus the observation..Those E8/E9s was beautiful locomotives. Thanks for sharing.

As a UK railfan I consider the E8 an iconic classic diesel loco. I am glad some units have been preserved in working order.
Ahhh, why can't they still make passenger locos like this. They look stunning..
because amtrak XD
The way they made engines was very different, they would have to pay the employees a lot to learn to make them.

Bennett Levin's E8s are gorgeous. Long may they run.

These aren’t E-7. They are E-8 or E-9
Wow, I'm surprised how many shots you got considering how fast they were going! Excellent!
Awesome video of these beautiful E8's, I wish he would run them to Pittsburgh again.
Love trains I'm going to be a train engineer when I grow up I love them
Nice catch! It's great to see them without any modern equipment in the train.
As kids, my brothers and I would regularly head down to the Main Line (between Philly and Harrisburg) early on Saturday mornings to see the mail train pulled by E8’s. I’ll never forget that-
That is possibly the best sounding horn I ever heard
The two pairs of 12-567Bs would have sounded even better, had we been able to hear them over the incessant horn blowing.
Pennsylvania railroad, always my favorite. Great video. 👍🏻

Nice... I love that they have the old trainfone antennas and everything.
Fantastic video of classic Pennsy passenger E8s' and passenger cars! Thank you for sharing :-)
How I remember them. When I was very young rode behind one of those ( blue-B&O I believe) from Cincinnati to New Orleans -“The Hummingbird “
One of the best horns I’ve heard. Fantastic video!!
Killer video dude! Always loved those E8 units, and this video did them justice!
Thanks a lot, Dan! This was the first time I've recorded them coming to my doorstep, so I tried going all-out even if the weather did not cooperate.

that sounds like a J3 snowplow horn!
