Thank you so much teacher Dave! I got it now. Thanks for showing this video it helped a lot.I already figured out the problem. It was the trim settings. The fill holes was unchecked. Now I can finish your class😃🥰🥳.. Thank you for your time to upload this video! Enjoy your vacation with your family✈️🚗❤️
Hiya, great video. If you mask draw & invert the face features & extract at -0.1 or -0.2 in mask settings, it will duplicate an extracted version that you can delete in the scene files, thus leaving the pumpkin hollowed out. Cheers Gary.
I'd just like to say your videos are incredibly helpful. I'm finally starting to learn 3D and it's all thanks to you. Nomad Sculpt is much easier to learn than Blender, so I think it's a great warm up for when I finally decide to go learn Blender someday.
So glad you’re enjoying 3D with nomad! I’ve learned just enough blender to be able to render/light and do some basic turntables… other than that I don’t think I’ll devote too much more time to learning it. Nomad is really fun, and I have to be able to have fun to create better art! 😁🙌🏾💯
Hi, first of all thank you for your tutorials, I am now getting into digital sculpting with Nomad, however I have a problem, I was able to recreate the empty pumpkin and make the mask on the back side, when I go to cut to make the eyes and mouth, it seems that mask has no effect and it is cut in the back side as well. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Thank you
I have the same issue. However, it seems the problem is in the Trim tool. In the Trim settings I checked Legacy, instead of Boolean, which was the default setting, and that seems to do the trick. Beware, I just began with Nomad as well, so that might not be it, and just a fluke, but it worked here
Hello Dave ! I have a request, could you do a video where you hollow a ring ? I’m 3D jewel maker and try to use Nomad sculpt with my other software ! Thank you for your work!!!! Really helpful !
Hi Dave, thank you for all the content you put on youtube ! Small question : every time i try to trim eyes and mouth, it goes through even tho my mask is on, do you have any idea on how to fix this ! Thank you 😊
I’ve just downloaded nomad, followed this which is so good! Except no matter what size a make the inner pumpkin, when I trim after doing the Boolean, it’s wafer thin and doesn’t have the thickness of the inner pumpkin no matter the size
Hey thanks Dave, I saw that legacy didn’t cut and just created a dent, boolean cut through even with the mask and none works and it’s hollow but is not showing a thick shell no matter how small I make the inner pumpkin. Any tips?
Hmm, I don’t think you can easily hollow out a character like that? You could try and make the entire character or parts smaller and then do a Boolean to to hollow it… I think the trim settings hollow might give you a shell, but not sure if you can adjust the thickness. Good question for the nomad Facebook group 👍🏾
and if you want to hollow something to make a shell an exact thickness? are there a way for this? i hate just guessing , i never do that in my reel work, but it seems like it is standard and not so important when it comes to computer generated things.
I was having a heck of a time and realized that if i voxel remeshed after Boolean but before trimming I was ending up with shells that couldn't be cut right
i saw one tutorial that uses the mask tool to make the eyes and mouth, then invert and extract it, it makes a duplicate of the initial pumpkin, that when you delete afterwards will make a hollow cut.
@@drugfreedave i feel the same, i was used to the same method you are teaching us, though that method is quite easy in some ways, maybe a bit confusing specially for those who are just starting up
@danmillenas1347 yep it’s always gonna be different for everyone! For me the idea of protecting the back and trimming to carve the holes feels most intuitive. To others to use the numbers and menus extract will be. I need to get better with the menus and numbers myself
@@drugfreedave i still have a lot to learn honestly, and i am not lucky enough to have an ipad or a tablet to do some modeling, im just doing it using a normal size android phone with my hand as a pen hahaha
You probably moved the sphere from world center! Take the sphere out of the mirror (long press, drag out) then add a brand new sphere to see where world center is. Shouldn’t hurt anything either way! 👍🏾
Hi ! I like your tutorials ! I have a problem. I cut it from the inside but I somehow ended up with two outer “walls”. So it’s basically have an empty space between these “walls”
When I got to voxel remesh like you do in your video. No matter what I try remesh keeps closing the gaps where the eyes and the mouth are. Is there something else I could try?
@@drugfreedave I'll try that. Thanks! Love your videos. I even picked up a few on udemy. Oh and in one of your vids you asked about procreate courses I would buy the hell out of those.
I do the clone, shrink the clone, deselect it, trim, make the clone invisible, voxel verge (Boolean bombs half the time) et voila! Simple. You can also snap to one side, split it, make backside invisible, paint inside more yellow like the inside of a real pumpkin, make the front part invisible and back visible, paint it, the rejoin. Also, you can make a texture from an image of a pumpkin, invert it, texturize the outer pumpkin before cloning, then when you’re done you have texture inside and out. You can see a few of mine at the artwork section of the nomad forum-don’t have ab active channel, but I am thinking about it.
Hey! I've been trying with the selmask and no matter what I do, it ends up trimming both faces, any suggestion?? Thanks for everything! Your videos are great!

Thanks for the video but isn't there something like OFFSET face by given value?
I’ve just downloaded nomad, followed this which is so good! Except no matter what size a make the inner pumpkin, when I trim after doing the Boolean, it’s wafer thin and doesn’t have the thickness of the inner pumpkin no matter the size
Try changing the TRIM settings: legacy/Boolean/none settings on the right side bar (below sym, top left side of the screen)
Hey thanks Dave, I saw that legacy didn’t cut and just created a dent, boolean cut through even with the mask and none works and it’s hollow but is not showing a thick shell no matter how small I make the inner pumpkin. Any tips?
Awesome video!!! Do you know of a way to use the trim at the bottom of a characters feet to hollow it out but increase the shell thickness?
Hmm, I don’t think you can easily hollow out a character like that? You may have had the trim set to not fill holes!

Probably works too! Sounds complicated, but I’ll probably give it a go as well 👍🏾

When I clicked radial for mine they weren't right on top of the initial sphere but spread way apart. Any idea what the issue may be?

Hi ! I like your tutorials ! I have a problem. I cut it from the inside but I somehow ended up with two outer “walls”. So it’s basically have an empty space between these “walls”
Same problem, did you figure it out?
You can duplicate the pumpkin, make one smaller, then do a boolean cut to hollow the pumpkin out. I have a video on boolean if you aren't familiar 👍🏾
When I got to voxel remesh like you do in your video. No matter what I try remesh keeps closing the gaps where the eyes and the mouth are. Is there something else I could try?
If they are too close it may do that… try upping the resolution when voxel remeshing!
@@drugfreedave I'll try that. Thanks! Love your videos. I even picked up a few on udemy. Oh and in one of your vids you asked about procreate courses I would buy the hell out of those.
The masking aint working bruh
Don’t do Boolean until after trimming.
