@@making-things I was so bothered by the endpoints and always just adding a sphere merging it to try to get it perfect. Now I don't have to anymore. Now I can have nice rounded endpoints. Instead of these ugly flat ones.
It's one of those tools that now feels limitless after discovering profile shapes. They updated it recently so you can adjust the grid size and make very elaborate profile shapes. The one I really like is making a tall but thin rectangle profile to be used for paper, flags, banners, cloth... Give it a try.
I've learned a lot from DrugFreeDave but I had not understood the tube tool yet. I always struggled and to round it out, I would create a tube then a sphere at either end, remesh and smooth. This is going to help tremendously, thank you!
This was such a huge realization for me as well because I had done it manually for a while. Glad you no longer have to do this the hard way! Take care!
This video came at the perfect time for me. Couldn't understand why the tube wasn't generating after the curve creation. Great tutorial looking forward to more!
LIFE saving tutorial. I just got into 3d modeling after years of 2D digital design and everything has been pretty confusing. This tutorial was so well-crafted, everything was explained so well and thoroughly. Thank you so much! I instantly feel better educated on my nomad tools.
I really enjoyed this comment. I love hearing that I was able to support your learning journey. We all need help along the way, including me. It’s a really gratifying moment when you can add another tool to the toolkit. So happy I could be part of it. Take care.

@@making-things Catmull-Rom was named after Ed Catmull and Raphael Rom. Catmull was also involved in the creation of the subdivision surface that is being used in multi-resolution. The Catmull-Rom curve has a continuity of 1 meaning that the slope (tangent) of the curve is the same going in and out of each point (knot). The b-spline curve is likely a cubic b-spline which has a continuity of 2. Both the tangent and the rate that the tangent changes are the same in and out which make the shading smoother but doesn't allow it to go through the knots.
Heya ) Thanks a lot for taking the time to create such detailed and clear tutorials. I'm just starting my exciting journey on Nomad and it's very helpful to find videos like this one. Thanks again mate, i can't wait to see more of those. Be safe.
Happy to hear it. I will continue to make Nomad videos along with other content. Next one unfortunately is not a Nomad tutorial, but stay tuned. I have more planned. I appreciate the comment. Cheers.
I love the tube tool! I've used the profile preset tool to make a generic nose, ear, hair and more. I can't wait to try it with the deformer stamp video of yours I just watched!
I have only used Snap to do this. This is the Snap control located in the leftside tool strip. With Snap on, I just draw directly on the object I want it to snap to.
When using the path option with the tube tool, I am unable to create a new segment when tapping/dragging on either side of the initial segment. The only thing it will do is rotate the camera-with either my Apple Pencil or my finger. I’ve searched everywhere for a setting or toggle that I may have switched the wrong way but haven’t found anything that makes it work the way shown in this video. The only way I can make new segments with the path tool is by tapping somewhere within the original segment to create a new point. What am I missing?
You aren't wrong. I was testing it just now and for some reason that functionality is not working as it did when I made the tutorial. I guess the way to grow your tube in path mode would just be to add new interior points rather than points on the ends. Sorry I don't have a better solution as of yet. I'll let you know if that changes. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@making-things ok phew! Glad to know it wasn’t just user error lol. Hopefully they’ll revert that functionality back to how it was previously though. Seems like a better way to map out where you’d like the path to go
Hi reirakuu. Do you mean you want to download my preset shapes? I am not sure I can export them, but I can give you my entire Nomad project file. I'll add a download link in the description sometime tonight.
I was testing it on my end and was not running into that issue. I am not sure I would know a fix for that. That sounds like an issue that may be resolved by reinstalling Nomad. I would not advise you reinstall the app until you've backed up all your Nomad project files. I also would hate to advise that if you have lots of custom settings inside of Nomad. If you are on iPad, you can usually find your project files in the native iOS "Files" app. I back up my files from time to time just because I'm paranoid about losing them. I might pose the question here first, before taking my advice. forum.nomadsculpt.com/ I'm sorry i wasn't of more help.
@@sijoovari I really hope you get that resolved. I saw your beautiful tube artwork on Instagram. It would be very bad if you lost your ability to make more. Good luck!
