That Carole King house is incredibly charming. The castle-style front door, the turret, the window seat on the cover of Tapestry - you can see why those creative women loved it.
@RockessentialTim I'm glad you said that because looking at the front, I couldn't understand the attraction to that structure besides the history. Now I know there's a whole lot more space to enjoy and work with.
I used to live in Echo Park one block away from these Victorian houses on Calumet street next to the Edgeware brick apartments. I was always in awe of the beauty of these antiques. It was Anton La Vey founder and high priest of the Church of Satan that’s photographed behind the Eagle’s in the balcony.
Thank you Tim, another great vid, I think you’ve probably got enough material for a book, “Tim’s guide to Laurel Canyon”, I’d buy it for sure, keep on rockin, Ken
Love your casual but straightforward delivery…really good flow and cool interesting topic…I think many people who found ways to exist in or off the music/entertainment world were often in an in between liminal space already…so things beyond that pushing into their space is believable to me….
I live at the infamous Cecil Hotel downtown. People die here almost on a weekly basis. You add that up by a hundred years that’s a shitload of dead people. So by my estimation this place should be the Grand Central Station of ghosts. Neither me or the numerous people I’ve talked to have experienced anything. Go figure.
I’d go to management and demand a sighting! I mean, any dwelling that witnessed Good ole Richie R. coming home covered in victims blood, undressing in the lobby and going upstairs to bed, has got to be haunted. Maybe up your profile name from 666 to a pentagram. THAT doesn’t work, try for a week quoting what he said after his trial,’I’ll see you in Disneyland.’ Someone says hi to You in the halls,’ I’ll see you in Disneyland.’ Keep us posted. 🎉
Fun video Tim, 🙋♂from Nashville. Great entertainment for Sunday breakfast. I'm now doing Ubering in my new Tesla here in Nashville. When I pick up people from their hotels leaving to go to the airport. I tell them " Evidently no one told you, That once you're here in Nashville, you can never leave." Hung out at all the usual places, The Rainbow, Starwood, Rodney's etc. Watching your videos brings back memories of fun times with some really fun people. Thanks!

If memory serves (not totally reliable) Lorna either lived in my building or had a friend that did and she used to occasionally borrow my bass amp so I'd go to the gigs to make sure it was safe which was a good idea considering their shows were TOTAL FREAKING CHAOS!!!
My friend and I spent the night in room 105 of the Landmark Hotel. Nothing unusual occurred but we were overwhelmed by all the personal messages left by fans in Janis’s closet. I wish she knew how very much she was loved and admired. ❤
My wife is a huge Charmed fan so when in LA we visited the exterior house location for that show. Much to my shock I learned that the Thriller house was only like four doors down!
I used to hang out with Danny Hutton of Three Dog Night a lot at his house in Laurel Canyon. His stepson was my best friend growing up. He bought the house from Alice Cooper. I don't know what happened there, but there were numerous instances where people saw an old man playing the piano. Apparently it was a ghost, but was playing the piano, which is really freaky outish.
I had heard a story that I couldn't verify that the current owners sued the realtors for not disclosing to them the house was haunted. The guy that owns it is some hugely popular DJ.
