    Weed hangovers are super common!
    That feeling of being still high after you’ve slept, is something that even the most experienced smokers can sometimes encounter.
    But what happens when that feeling lasts for days?
    Can a weed hangover last a week, or longer?
    If you’re still experiencing feelings of being high long after the weed should be out of your system -- and especially if you’ve had a bad or frightening weed experience -- it’s very possible that what you’re now experiencing is not the effects of the weed, but the symptoms of Depersonalization and Derealization.

    Suffered from DP/DR, and anxiety for 1 month after eating 1 edible. What helped me to get better was being closed to god, magnesium glycinate for the anxiety, positive mind, eating healthy, constant communication with doctor and now I’m 99% back to normal, It’s been 1 month and 5 days. Good luck everyone I’ll be praying for you all.

      @@sensfan7550is your cannabis use making your life worse or getting in the way of what you want to get done? Like do you get high early in the day and then put off going to the store or getting chores, exercising etc done? Have you missed work or school because of your cannabis use? How many times a week would you say you consume cannabis? Do you use cannabis to escape reality? Answering these questions will help you figure out if you have a problem with cannabis, but there’s nothing wrong with using cannabis to relax occasionally.

      @@sensfan7550just don’t smoke every day. Look Im 19 and id say when I was 17 I was drunk and decided to smoke for the first time bong. It was a bad idea and I bad trip that night. When I woke up I was still fonctional but a bit off. Just like I was still high. I didn’t at that time but it was depersonalization. This feeling of constantly thinking I was high or being afraid of never going back to normal lasted for about 3 months and the best tip from one of my friend was to stop focusing on it. And it worked. This didnt stop me from smoking weed. I’d say for one more year I smoked really frequently and it was great but ultimately I was getting more and more lazy. I’m a student at college in architecture and I was getting my work done last minute and even tho my grades were good it’s just wasn’t a good feeling. It’s been like 2 months that’s I’ve chose to stop buying weed and focusing on becoming a better person. Started to go to gym and eat better and I started to regain a reel purpose in life. Of course I’ll always smoke weed cause it’s so good for you but just don’t abuse it don’t do it everyday because at the end of every day the only thing you’ll want is to be high. And that’s not the purpose of life. Hope that helps with your addiction but honestly only YOU can change it. It’s all in the mental. If you really want to change it will be easy just like it was for me. It’s not that difficult just take a break.

    happened to me from a couple edibles on my first time. Haven’t touched it since. But it last 3-4 weeks, crazy anxiety at the beginning, just nothing felt right/real, I didn’t care about anything, music was great lol, but time was passing by slow. Anyways, after reading into it there were a few comments that say STOP RESEARCHING IT!!!
    Please, just trust me stop reading up on it, stop thinking about it, just go live your life, find a new hobby, go workout, go sleep, just get your brain distracted. Just like a good song you can’t stop playing, eventually you stop playing it. You need to stop thinking about it and it will eventually go away.

    Wow, I feel so accepted and not judged by this video! I've had a few instances where the hangover lasted a few days and due to uncomfortable experiences and past trauma I believe it could be DPDR. As of late I've been smoking because I believe it helps me seriously question myself, and almost releases a level of inhibition that allows me to recognize certain conflicting beliefs that might be causing anxiety in my day to day life. I also seriously enjoyed how you pretty much defined how marijuana induced DPDR (and possibly DPDR in general) can lead to rumination at around 5:12 I enjoyed this video very much

      @@Dpmanual Thanks for writing. Imagine this: The year was 1972, I was 20 and having the time of my life. I had just got a great job and was feeling great. A buddy of mine and I set off the smoke some weed, which I enjoyed. We stopped and bought a bunch of jelly donuts and ate them on the way to the local park. (My blood was probably pure sugar by time we got there.) I rolled up a huge joint as we parked of some unknown weed. It started raining as we lit it up and started passnig back and forth. All of sudden everything turned into a Peter Max cartoon and I started to laugh and enjoy trip. But then I got a little anxious thinking the pot was laced with something! The next thing I knew I fell into an unending series of "why" questions that would not stop!!! The panic set in and I was sure I was going to go completely crazy!!! I then felt like I was outside of myself, just totally detached. OMG, how scary it was and felt so weird! I begged my buddy to get us out of the park. We went and got some 3.2 beer. I thought it would help bring me down. Well, I was terrified for the rest of the night. I went home and slept ok, but the next day I was anything but normal. I went to my new job and started to feel all those feelings of unreality! What had I done??? Then I was on the outside looking in again, like through a pane of glass! Wow, more terror and trapped at my new job!!! I suffered from the fear of panic attacks for over twenty years after that until I finally was clinically depressed enough from the wear to seek out a therapist. Thank God, I found a good one. The education began and I slowly began to understand what had happened to make me a prisoner of panic all those years ago. One more thing... if would have tried to seek help back in the 70s, it would have been futile as little was known about the science. They probably would have gave me shock treatments!!!

    This is exactly what happened to me! At first I thought I had a bad trip, but the symptoms of DP didn't go away for 4 days. Luckily, your channel helped me to calm down and overcome DP.
    I don't want to advertise myself here, but I actually wrote a song about my experiences with DP that I released a few weeks ago. It's called "Autopilot" and I combined my thoughts and the experiences of some of the guests on this channel into one song that I think describes DP very well.

    I had a very bad experience my first time smoking 6 years ago and didn’t do it for the following year. For the past 4 years I have been doing it a couple times per year and noticed myself feeling lazy after but that’s about it until this year. I have done it a couple times a month this year and now a lot of these symptoms arise the next couple days after smoking. Could they all be from the first bad experience? Could it just be my bodies reaction to weed but now I’m just doing it frequent enough to notice a pattern?

      @Dpmanual  6 місяців тому

      Hey, thanks for your comment 😊 I know DPDR can be scary but just remember that it’s a natural reaction to stress and anxiety, and people experience it all the time. The National Institute on Mental Illness estimates that up to 75% of people experience at least one depersonalization / derealization episode in their lives. It's part of your brain's natural defence mechanism and usually it only lasts a few seconds or minutes at a time. It's only when it's focused on as a separate problem (feeling like you're going crazy / in a dream etc) that it can turn into a feedback loop with the anxiety that caused it in the first place. But no matter what caused it or how long you've had it, you can always switch it off completely by stopping that anxious feedback loop. Make sure to carefully read through all the articles and info on my website at www.dpmanual.com and my book The Depersonalization Manual.
      And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR 👍

    The experience I had with high THC content markedly differed from that with lower or medium-strength strains or smoking blends containing small amounts or low potency. I recognize the sensations; the effects are unpredictable and vary across strains. Certain strains are particularly unpleasant for me, though others may find them more suitable. The sensations often resembled motion sickness, similar to the feeling of sinking in ocean waves. I no longer use cannabis and feel better for it. The dissociative highs were especially disagreeable, frequently causing dizziness and nausea, and once even leading to vomiting. I regard the plant as neither a friend nor an enemy; to me, it is a neutral entity that impacts me in its own way. I have stopped using it and choose to abstain from any recreational substance use, including alcohol and anything that alters my perceptions. This personal choice does not align with the preferences of some of my friends, but we respect each other's decisions. After a few months of experimenting, I ceased using it. This experience, though less severe than the 'reefer madness' narrative, taught me an important lesson: to respect plants that can both teach and punish. It reinforced my understanding of what is suitable for each individual. I realized that Cannabis Sativa does not serve a significant purpose for me. Objectively, it does not fulfill a medical need, except for teaching me that it is not compatible with my biology or brain structure. You're not alone, and you will be okay, trust me and yourself and the surroundings and understand that you're real and inside reality and it is a normal typical reaction to new substances, as a reaction when a person body firstly needs to recognize the substance ingested.

I’m 16 and have smoked pretty much every day since I was 14 (really bad I know) and recently I have felt super disconnected from reality and like a lot of the things you are describing, but I never had a panic attack or bad high or anything. I just kinda am like this now. I stopped smoking a few days ago and I’m not feeling any better. It’s really scary because although some symptoms are what people talk about when they describe dpdr, some seem like they are unique to me. Hi Shaun, it has been approximately 2 years since i first had the weed trip that gave me DP. I haven’t experienced DP in so long and i feel like i am no longer afraid of it. Do you think it is safe if to start smoking again. I haven’t smoked once since the initial trip.

    • @Dpmanual
      @Dpmanual  Рік тому +1

      Hi Marcos! 😊 So ultimately the decision to smoke weed again is up to you. I do know of some people who have made complete DPDR recoveries and who have safely gone back to smoking weed. However, I would strongly recommend that you avoid all strains of weed and other drugs completely at the very least until you've made a complete and 100% recovery.
      Also, you do need to understand there's always going to be a risk that the weed could trigger another panic attack and more feelings of DPDR. Now, once you've recovered from chronic DPDR and understand what the condition is, it's very unlikely to return as an ongoing condition -- because if you ever encounter the feelings again you recognize them and can allow them to pass naturally. Again, I wouldn't recommend doing it myself, but the decision is up to you. Hope that helps! 😊

    I greened out a couple weeks ago. It was my first time greening out and I did what you said in the video. Which was taking 2 edibles. Greening out was a scary experience and at first I didn’t get dpdr. Just a few days ago I started feeling like I wasn’t real and I’m in a dream. I worried too much about greening out which I guess led to this feeling. But when ever I’m with friends sometimes I forgot about it and sometimes I remember. Is there any advice on what I should do so I could recover quicker? I’m still pretty young and learning.

      Hey Jess, thanks for your comment 😊 Firstly, please make sure that you’re speaking to your parents about what’s happening. It’s very important that they know what’s going on. Secondly, I know DPDR can be scary but just remember that it’s a natural reaction to stress and anxiety, and people experience it all the time.

    Hey Shaun, do you have to give up weed for life or can you still smoke after recovering from DP? Because I had DP for 2 years but have since recovered although I did smoke during that time period to help ease my anxiety, can DP fully come back because sometimes I feel that familiar trigger when trying to give weed up or randomly smoking strong weed

    • @Dpmanual
      @Dpmanual  Рік тому +1

      Hey, thanks for your comment! Now, once you've recovered from chronic DPDR and understand what the condition is, it's unlikely to return as an ongoing condition -- because if you ever encounter the feelings again you recognize them and can allow them to pass naturally. Again, I wouldn't recommend doing it myself, but the decision is up to you. Hope that helps! 😊
