      We really appreciate FACTSVERSE's quality of videos and great narrations, too;
Many producers hijack video clips of others and then have nothing of merit to SAY ABOUT their stolen video clips!
We only recently became aware of the fact that Mickey 's acting took him to a MIKE HAMMER show-Never thought of him as BEING an actor though; it was quite good.
      Very Well Done AGAIN!
In the 70's In interviewed for a secretarial job with Michael Nesmith-but he used another name, had an ad in the paper, and his home was a BIG COUNTRY HOUSE on Sepulveda-Sepulveda Place I think; Curiously, I wonder if any of his CHILDREN remember that property? I think I should never mention that my lunch breaks entailed typing song lyrics; nobody wanted an aspiring songwriter for a SECRETARY...Michael was quite cordial and it took me awhile to figure out who he was!
ANYONE ? Got a job working for law firms later-Sometimes I wonder if I didn't "miss my calling?"
      "I Ain't no Middleman" and
"You're the Reason I'm Not Married!"

I was born in 66 and loved watching the Monkees when I was a kid. When I was a toddler my mom heard me singing Hey Hey were the Monkees while riding in the car. It was the first song I ever sang. I had all of the albums and I played them over and over for years. I saw them in Atlantic City in 2010, not too long before Davey Jones passed. I’m so glad I had that opportunity.

The Monkees have been a part of my life since 1966. I am now 68. These wonderful singers, actors, and talented performers still mean the world to me. I love them. I love their music. When I watch the show today, it still brings a smile to my face. They, for me, represent a happy period in my life. My teens! I was lucky enough to see them in concert many times, as well as meet all but Nez over the last 25-30 yrs. Davy was my absolute favorite. So I am happy for that. I hope I have an opportunity to see Micky in concert or meet him again in the near future. It breaks my heart that Davy, Peter and now Mike are gone. Miss them always. Thanks for your video.👍💕

I've been a Monkees fan from the first moment I saw the TV show back in the 60's. My first single I ever bought was Daydream believer and to this day it is still my favourite song. ironically if they hadn't been shown playing their instruments they could have been another boy band. The Inkspots were recognised as the first back in the 50's. Because of the Beatles they were created and they were their downfall too. RIP Davy, Pete and Michael. And good health to Micky, your music and shows will live on.

Almost identical to my experience.I wasn't born early enough but was then too young to fully appreciate them as a young kid. I first saw the Monkees on TV in the 70's as a kid but didn't really get into their music until I was much older. My nephew was staying with me when I worked in Hong Kong (I lived in a village so there were no neighbours to disturb). I recall his emerging from the bathroom saying, "Daydream Believer blasting out at 7. am on a Monday. What a way to start the week."

I saw a concert with Micky and Peter back in 2016. It was my first concert ever (I was 15 at the time). That night left me astonished. They were full of joy and energy, making it bittersweet to leave at the end. While I felt lucky to have that moment, I was upset I never got to see Mike. I adored him the most and really looked up to him as a person. While I collected Monkees records, I also had Mike's. The day he passed I cried so hard. I felt grief for weeks. Him and his songs (Tapioca Tundra was my favorite of his) got me through rough patches in my life. Peter's passing was a hard one to shake too. At the time I saw him I remember he made a death joke... Nobody liked hearing it of course, but with the kind of spiritual person he was, I guess he accepted that fact..

My first ever concert in 1986 , at the old Oakdale theater in Wallingford,CT. The stage was circular and rotated round and round. I was 13 and my older sister and I loved watching the reruns on
Mtv. Even my younger brother and sister were into them. We got so excited for the 20th anniversary tour, my God almost 40 yrs ago. My sister and I walked around for hrs at a solid out show( our mom bless her waited in the car for us and then even came back later to get us after the show. Unbelievably a man came to us with 4 tickets and he just gave them to us. Wow A 15 and 13 yr old. We sold the other two tickets quickly to a couple for 30$ lol we weren't stupid. It was the most surreal experience to me. My first exposure to famous people on TV. And my first concert. The atmosphere was incredible. We got to see Herman Hermits,( Henry the 8th I am) and Gary Puckett and the Union Gap . But it seemed an internal wait til the Monkees came on stage to Hey hey we're the Monkees ( I think anyway). The whole show was amazing, the only thing that could have made it better is if Mike were there. Sadly even though I saw them 3 times it was never with all 4 at the same time. I was delirious, my sister chiding me for screaming we love you Davy. ( Hey I was only 13 at the time). A few yrs later Rock and metal came back into my life and I went in other directions. But me and my friend John played every Monkee tape over and over. We especially loved No Time, Randy Scouse git, and the porpoise song. The Monkees we're a huge impact in many lives and they proved they belong in the Rock Hall of Fame. They have countless hits and tons of great songs. Oh and I would put Shades of Gray up to songs like Yesterday, Hey Jude, everyday. That song is a ridiculously underrated, and under recognized song. And just shows the incredible talent of those 4 men

My favorite Monkees song is one of those rarities where the title is not in the lyrics. That song is the sometimes outro, For Pete's Sake.
In this generation, in this loving time
In this generation, we will make the world shine
I'm a boomer and saw the shows in the 60s. This song, though I like it a lot is an obituary to the ideals of boomers. It is an anthem to how the generation that failed me most is my own. If we had been more like our parents, called by some the Greatest Generation, perhaps the state of the world would be better.

June 16, 2016: my friend at the Hard Rock got me a "meet and greet" ticket for the show. I met Mickey and Peter before the show for the brief hand shake and photo op. I mentioned my love for the band and jokingly invited them to my home studio to record a tune. As the security hustled us off to make room for the next guests Peter said, "Wow! I wish we had more time..." The sincerity of his voice made those words stick with me.
    Those words haunt me now.
Mickey was equally gracious and I was able to spend some time with him after the show. I cherish that hour and will never forget how full of life was, and how he loved making everyone laugh at his stories. Making people happy is the core of who he is.
I knew studio players made the records. That's what the industry has done since the '50's. The Wrecking Crew played on their records as well as Jan and Dean, Sonny & Cher, the Mamas and the Papas, the 5th Dimension, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, the Byrds , and the Beach Boys album Pet Sounds.
The Monkees were unjustifiably maligned for doing what everyone else did at the time.
Hang in there, Mickey. We all love you.

I recall an old interview when he said that he felt like he was, "made of wood" in the early Monkee episodes. This was due to his early performances being very stiff. I grew up with the Monkeys and watched their their family/kids show
On the telly in the 60's . Always thought them quite goofy and for an initially manufactured band they very
soon showed everyone just how accomplished they were as musicians and song writers.
I always feel old when part of my childhood ' dies' like this .
I am positive they will all be reunited
again in a better place .

Back in the 90’s I remember seeing a Monkee’s marathon on MTV which brought back memories from my childhood and I became a Monkee’s fun.
Two of my favorite songs are “Daydream believer” and “Last train to Clarksville”.
I still feel quite sad about the death of Davy, Peter and Michael. I hope Mickey is doing well as I would love to see him singing the Monkee’s song live in concert at least once.

WOW..... PETER WAS AN ACCOMPLISHED MUSICIAN LONG BEFORE HE WAS IN THE MONKEES. He can be seen in concert footage playing classical piano. He was such a good banjo player that George Harrison had him play on the soundtrack to Wonderwall. He wrote the closing theme to the show. He was a very accomplished guitarist. He taught Micky, who was actually a guitarist, a bit of drums.
MICHAEL was an accomplished songwriter and was about to be signed to a contract as Michael Blessing when he got the role on the show.
The only albums they didn't play on were the first and second. That wasn't anything to do with their skills but because filming the show didn't allow them a lot of time to do more than add vocals to tracks put together by studio musicians. By the 3rd album - Headquarters - it was them playing on every song. Any studio musicians were in addition to the four and were under their direction. They composed songs on that and the following albums asking with songs written by friends of the band.
The album Justus was only the 4 with no studio musicians at all.

LAST TRAIN TO CLARKSVILLE (#1), I'M A BELIEVER (#1), PLEASANT VALLEY SUNDAY (#3), STEPPIN' STONE (#20), and WORDS (#11). With respect to the vocal stylings of Davy and Mike it was Micky's VOICE that made the Monkees commercial. He was the only Monkee, with the voice for rock n roll, and he still has it....

I began watching Monkees reruns in the mid 70’s. I was 4 years old. I instantly developed a crush on Davy Jones even at that young age! I love many of their songs. I boo and hiss at the people who do not consider them to be a real band. I agree, they started that way on the TV show, but they certainly did not lack talent. Eventually, they learned to play together and went on tour. With all that said, I definitely love Daydream Believer and Look Out, Here Comes Tomorrow the best.

They were all skilled musicians and performers before the show. Peter Tork partnered with Stephen Stills and formed a band. He played the guitar and banjo and probably other instruments. Mike called himself "Michael Blessing" and had performed his own songs on television. Mike wrote a lot of Monkees songs. Mickey was the one member who had been in a previous TV show. He auditioned for the Monkees by playing the guitar and singing Johnny B. Goode. Davy performed in many musicals before getting a part in the show. They knew what they were doing. But according to Don Kirschener, they were his property because of their contracts. So, what ever they did was up to him. During the show's run, they did live concerts in front of thousands of fans, playing and singing themselves. I was a kid in the 60s and I grew up watching these guys. As far as having other musicians play the music for them, that's not unusual. Even the likes of Jimmy Page and others often were helped out by studio musicians.

He implored them to note that in all his years as a serious junky, he never got a cold or as much as a sniffle, and now that his system is running without heroin, he's now getting colds like everyone else. I thought it was a very good thing to put on record and challenge the researchers. He was telling them to find out why fully addicted IV heroin use is in effect the preventative 'cure' for the common cold. ;-) Who knew?

I was about 16-17 when Davy passed away, and it was just as I was getting into The Monkees. My barber, a family friend of ours, lent me her DVD of their favorite episodes to watch and help me start my interest in them, since I was a huge Beatles fan too. Just a few months after starting to listen to their music, my sister told me she had heard he passed and it broke my heart to hear that just after learning and loving his work. And now in the recent years losing Peter and Mike, it brings back that sting. Good on Mickey wanting to take care of himself in response to all this. Hope he sticks around for a good few years, I know the others are waiting to give him a big group hug when he's ready to join them.

They scrambled by placing the desk blotter, the pen pot/can and phone on the safe (since the desk was reduced to splinters). Mickey spun around looked directly into the camera and whispered, "They'll never know the difference." LOL Anyway, my favorite song was one that Davy or Peter sang the lead on... Shades of Gray. That song I've always identified with.
