harry is a proper walking car encyclopedia...bless him
It's a toss- up between my boss and Harry.
....and all who sail in him?!
Harry Metcalfe. The most interesting, and coolest, man in the world. : )
"There's all sorts of sights here."
Harry, you rapscallion.
Haaaahahahaaa!!! I loled so hard when he said that pointing at all the trophy wives.
17:19 on the left 'wew lads.
Grammar is not Harry's greatest strength.
Thank you Harry, I live in Italy and I always wondered what Villa d'Este is all about. Thank you for sharing this experience!
the man who declined to restore the maserati is a hero in my eyes
frankE91210 it can only be original once
When Harry says he is not going to cover a section it is a bit like when a woman says it's time to leave when out shopping. He starts moving along but then spots something too good to walk by haha.
😭 why did it have to end, could watch this forever!!!!
Blimey. At 1.12 in, there is an old Suzuki Stinger (red & black tank, upswept chrome exhausts). I bought one new in 1972 and owned until it until 1978. Lovely little bike. Took me two work during the week and on trips to the Cotswolds, Peak District and Devon at weekends. I wish I had kept it.
Loved the bikes - so many Italian classic s to pour over
Love your videos, Harry. Always appreciate how inclusive you are with your audience - a rare treat these days :)
Such a class event. Look at how people are dressed. So much better than the show of at supercar events.
Money dude: this is a fairytale event for the elite
I think it's by invitation only IIRC - though the Elbe auction nearby may be by just buying a catalogue. Either way there are plenty of hotels (and a huge campsite) along that road by the lake so you could arrive early and watch all the cars arrive the day before. There's dedication :-)
skycrap À
@@icecreamalacarte And dont they all know it! Older guys are ok, but you can tell they ones who think they are all it.
Thank you for providing this oppurtunity to view this event Harry! I appreciate your channel!
Super video Harry, thanks for taking us along and sharing the experience.. Some lovely cars / examples..
Harry your work is nothing short of sublime. Please never stop.
Thank you for sharing the show and your knowledge, Harry! This is certainly a special show that only a few eyes would have otherwise seen. Much respect.
Love Harry's enthusiasm to show us cars that people like me have never seen or heard of. What a great guy, not pretentious perfect delivery and my new favourite channel.
great work Harry. what an incredible location. your videos of the shows are always very entertaining and educational for those of us who cannot go to such events, so thanks for bringing us such videos.
Absolutely incredible, in-depth and engaging journalism! It seems like all of the youtubers have attended this event, yet only Harry managed to produce something really good.
Harry, as always showing the younger you tubers how to do it!
Beautiful cars. The RR at the end was a masterpiece. It made me smile when the rear window came up, it looked like a little hearse for beloved pets. Could be a nice little earner.
Horrible looking, yes and the hearse bit at the rear erk so l will not be buying it now.It was R/H/D ?
4 years to ruin a Phantom Coupe. The guys pretending to be coach builders of old are clearly not on the RR team but marketing is for the 10+ million price. For genuine coach building today, look to Touring Superleggera Milano.
@@alexmartinez280 the only thing I liked was the reduced dashboard
They could say that the price was 20+ millions, the car would have looked more beautiful...
Really enjoyed this, saw other videos of this event, your oldschool knowledge is really impressive so many people have no idea what they are looking at!!
Another great video Harry. You do such a great job of taking us to events and on drives that I'm unlikely to be in a position do myself (apart from those on your local roads - I'm not far away!). Keep it up!
Visited last year, amazing show with an unbelievable backdrop. Hard to say if I was more in awe of the setting or the cars!
Thank you for sharing this with us. Great content as always Harry!
The RR-Bags in the Sweptail's trunk indeed look like Hermès.
i love how Harry takes you with him and doesnt make you feel jelous
Interesting thing about the Tatra 87. Predecessor model 77 (1934-1938) was the first serial produced aerodynamically design car. The improved model 77A has a coefficient of aerodynamic drag just 0.212.(Toyota Prius has 0,24)
Thank you Harry, very interesting collection of cars available to our sight and knowledge because of you!
Excellent!
Thanks for this, always enjoy watching them!
Exquisite location. Art Deco is alive and well, and I couldn't be happier. Thanks Harry, you allowed me access to a world I covert but can never attain.
Thank you for this Harry. Fabulous as usual. Always look forward to your videos.
Sounding and looking good Harry. THANK YOU for the great video.
Thanks for the tour Harry!
I hope next year I will be at the event in person, but meanwhile I can still enjoy through your video! Thanks Harry!
I think the event is every 2 years. So next one will be 2019.
Damn, so long to wait! It seems like the most amazing show of amazing classics!
No it's every year, the auction is every two years.
+PieterA Yes, you're right. I went and checked. Concourse show every year, RM auction every two years. My apologies.
Thanks a lot for this fantastic video Harry. Really enjoyed it!
i live vicariously through Harry
That Maserati 300S was absolutely beautiful. There were a lot of gorgeous cars there but the 300S takes the biscuit in my opinion.
Thank you for this great coverage of such a nice event.
Some truly beautiful cars & bikes there Harry, i'd love to attend an event like that. And those Riva's are amazing, one of my favourite boats. Look forward to the next video.
HARRY, AWESOME, What a wonderful car show, Thank you
Harry thank you for posting this wonderful video....it is beautiful. You really made my day.
I've seen that Maserati very recently and it's beautiful to look at up close.
20:35 "There's all sorts of sights here" 😂
😉
Thanks for bringing your camera and giving us a look.
Great videos as always, we saw some great cars at The City Concours in London a few weeks ago.
thankyou for the walk around Harry,I thoroughly enjoyed this video.
I imagine Harry's designing a bespoke "Roller" in his imagination! Hoorah for Harry!
Doggie at 4:07 sniffing on the Osca MT4's wheel 😂 He totally would've gone for it had the owner not pull the leash.
Great vid Harry - most interesting one I've seen of Villa D'este👍
Nice one Harry. Great show. Love those mico cars, would liked to have heard that 2litre fiat V8 start up.
a pleasure to watch. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this Harry. I honestly think Villa d'Este is a mandatory event for every enthusiast, at least once in life. and there are many people who might never get there, but your coverage is the next best thing. I've seen a few videos covering this year's event but your's is by far the best (the RSR, the Maserati tourers, the OSCA, just incredible.) cheers mate!
Do we know if its possible to buy tickets?
paredding it is possible to buy tickets and although I haven't been there in over 15 yrs I do remember the price being quite reasonable. honestly I think we paid more for parking than for entrance tickets. everything else there is very expensive ( I sat down at the little hotel bar and got charged $12 for a Coca Cola) but if you have the means I highly recommend it. even if you have to do it on a shoestring budget. you will without doubt see things you've never seen before and won't ever see again. and like most RM auctions, I assume viewing the cars for sale is free. which is nice because everything around Lake Como is expensive (hotels, restaurants, shopping etc) but if you do your homework you can find places to stay outside of the area and the travel in just for the day.
Thanks Eric - I did some research afterwards and found the tickets site for the Friday which is open to the public. I have registered my interest. The tickets are a very fair price IMHO :-) For anyone in the UK interested, there is also the Ferrari 70th event coming up in September at Silverstone for a very reasonable £16 - the Ferrari F1 client cars will be there and when I went in 2014 IIRC it was superb
paredding great. I think the villa d'este concours is must do event for any enthusiast. but so is some of the Silverstone and Goodwood events. if you made those three along with Pebble Beach and Amelia Island in America, you'd have quite a full life with some unforgettable experiences.
Totally agree - have been to several Goodwood FoS, and was in SFR in 2011 and visited Carmel and Laguna Seca but not during the events sadly. Amelia and pebble Beach are on my list to return, just needs careful planning but I am inspired by what I see on Chasing Classic Cars TV programme. So many events, so little time!
Very entertaining and informative Harry. Huge thanks :)
This video takes the great unwashed to a place we've never seen.
Thanks, Harry, for sharing info on low production cars that don't get any screen time.
Thanks Harry, another great video full of information and that special element you give. I wonder what the design concept was for the RR.
Great vid Harry, funnily enough I saw the RR Sweptail parked up next to a restaurant on South Audley street in Mayfair the other night, had a gaggle of people around it, shame about the front end!! the rest of it looks beautiful though ;-)
Thank you, Harry. The best youtuber in the business. No 'cheat-sheets' with Mr Metcalfe... he just knows his stuff.
Great video, thank you for sharing that special event.
A really great video, Harry.
Now I've sorta been to Villa d'Este. thanks Harry.
Nice to watch this again...that Sweptail hasn't grown on me over the years.
what an amazing place and equally amazing cars! it's a different world
Awesome vid as always Harry, thanks!
I didn't want this to end!
Thanks so much Harry. Almost as good as being there!
Well done for your restraint and discretion in not commenting one way or another on the styling of the Rolls Royce Sweptail.
Excellent harry carry on the good work grazie Mille ciao
Very enjoyable and amusing. Thanks.
250swb is so stunning. Never get tired of looking at them.
Great job Harry ... love your videos
Very nice cars and very nice environment.
About a year ago I visited Louwman Museum in The Hague, also worth checking out if in proximity.
Great video, thanks Harry.
Looking very sharp Harry.
I really enjoyed this coverage, as good as being there, almost
I am here for Harry. I could hear this gentleman talk about an old ford focus or reviewing an electric econobox.
Great insider content, thanks for this!
Great video as usual, THANKS Harry always like the work you do. That RR would be just peachy for Liberachi....lol
Top stuff
Great vid as usual harry
Great video, Harry.
Great video Harry!
Harry, you are the best !
Thank you Harry... you are an absolute gentleman 👌🎩👍
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you.
Toyota Camry Station of the 90's wagon has two rear wipers as well Harry's Garage...
Fantastic video Harry! The front of that Rolls is so menacing! Not sure about the rear though.
Great channel and you sure are a likeable guy👍
Keep it up Harry
Superb . Puts these younger “ my new daily” bloggers in the shade does Harry
Great job!
Cheers Dan
Very interesting and very informative really enjoyed
A one of RR that costs apparently 12 million to develop and build and they have incandescent 5 dollar bulbs you can get at wal mart as the trunk illumination lights.
I was getting worried that you just liked everything and were too British to say otherwise when you found that one you hated. Confidence restored.
jumbowana yeah he didn't hold back on that one!
jumbowana just to show how well cars were styled back then, even the 50's-70's cars he says are ugly are not bad looking at all
I also can't believe he liked that sick baby poop green on that ferrari.
Excellent video, as usual, thanks!!!!
Oh my, that 8 series concept is beautiful, quite unlike whatever it is that is being sold today.
Rolls Royce don't even bother to pretend to be British anymore. The thick German accent..
He didn't sound thick to me...
I thought they had flown in Arnie Schwartzeneger from CA :-)
Arnie is Austrian and his father was in the German army, but saying that Hitler was also Austrian, why did German follow an Austrian to disaster and France followed Napoleon and he was from Corsica, and we follow war mongering gays and paedophiles here in the UK
Only for walued customers.
It's a German company wearing the skin of a dead English one
Thank you Harry, thank you!
G'day *Harry*, love your videos mate. Come to Australia sometime! I always look forward to your uploads, I just wish that you did more of them. Also, what *glasses are you wearing*? They're epic, definitely keen to grab a pair.
Very interesting Harry Thanks
Thanks to you, Harry, now I know how much of a pleb I am. :D
How did you manage to get a shirt in the same pattern as that first car's interior so quickly?
The Siata 208S is just another version of the F.I.A.T 8V (Otto Vu in italian), different carossiers and refinement specialists bought these coupes and redesigned them between 1952 and 1954/55. Production ceased in 1954, and Fiat sold only about 180 of them. There was also a sort of first cup racing series only for these car type organised for the rich and beautiful.
15:24- Wow, those wheel fasteners are really NUTS!
I'll show myself out..
The best of the best, thanks for shearing...
