You can really see how Schlager eventually won the world championship, he has a lot of control and got a lot of balls back against one of the hardest to play players on history.
@@EnnesX you probably have become attached to your memories which makes you biased. Lets be real, even with the plastic ball and speed glue ban, players today are much faster and spinnier than their older counterparts. This is true for almost every sport, so I am not hating on them for no reason. And although entertainment is different for each individual, table tennis rallies 20 to 30 years ago ended quickly, because of the hidden serve and players not being able to sustain a rally due to their inability
Table tennis right now is the best I think , the only thing good about 90s was that there were players like waldner, Perrson who could beat the chinese but talking about gameplay table today is much faster
@@shotarolee5021 Table tennis today is boring - just one style - backhand oriented close to the table. No short-pips penhold, no korean penhold, generally no penhold, no defenders, no half-distance players etc. just the FZDong style. Illegal serves prohibition and change from 21 to 11 points were great - every other changes are rubbish. P.S. I find the best table tennis was around 2000-2008 - a lot of styles and everyone had a realistic chance - a defender in WTTC final or a penholder in Olympisc final - absolutely impossible in todays BH-close-to-the-table-bang-bang style...

Speed gluing, play until 21, hidden serves, faster rallies.... memories....
