I don't know if it's worth it, but there's also a 2H sword called Claret that applies Dazed, making the enemy's attack of opportunity deal no damage. This can be useful for disengaging in a Duelist or Swordmaster build. You receive this sword as a reward for completing the bounty Diewer's Gang - Outlaws in Tiltren .
Hi Hex, thanks for another great video. Are you planning on covering all the classes/weapons? I've never built a one-handed Axe character so I'm hoping for some ideas!
Yeah, all classes are planned. Along with some other guides. I will post a new poll on the community page here on the channel. So make sure you vote for what you wanna see next!
Hey Hexxat! Im a new sub and new to Wartales... I was wondering what the progression to these builds would look like? Including the Brute guide? It's nice that you're level 12 and have all the weapons and skills unlocked but if you're only level 5, it's not easy to implement these builds.... Great content! Can't wait to juice my characters like this
Hey, thanks for the feedback. I agree, I should make more clear the earlier progression. Basically, use crafted items till lvl 5. Once you reach 5 and upgrade your skills, go beat the arenas, tombs, and champs for the uniques that you like. Crafted gear is now up to lvl 11. And its very good, due to the fact that you can get 3 slots guaranteed. Anyway I hope that helps!
I think there's a new two-handed sword in Grimmer's Berna arena (One of the two rewards, the other is Glory you showcase in this video), it do a AOE 360 knockback attack, and if the enemy hit the wall or other unit it deal another 150% additional dmg (Don't know if it could crit or not), that could potentially be a good choice.
I tried to make it work, but Its very situational. And the damage was meh, so I couldn't justify having it. Let me know if you make it work, I could feature it on the channel later!
Thanks for the new guide. I have a question, in the lvl 12 video showcase where you showed us your team you didn't have a 2-handed swordsman. Would you fit one in going from 9 to 10 or you would replace one?
I'd probably go for 10. I think having two heavy armored characters (brute and swordsman) is very good form start to finish. I wouldn't go past 10 mercs tho, the fights become way too long.
i know the vids a year old. im playing now, and there is no longer 4 options for skills at lv5-10 only 3. am i missing something or did they patch change it?
For a two-handed sword you want to use Fredegund (85% Strength damage, +40% if enemies are Bleeding. On Crit causes bleeding.) Combine this with a Harpooner character who can Destabilize 2-3 enemies (removes armor and causes Bleeding) and you will be doing a lot more damage than with the Inquisition Knight Greatsword. All this bleeding combines very well with an Assassin as well. Also you really do not need Riposte abilities on a two-handed character - you will almost never be engaged in combat and mainly use AoE attacks. The 2-handed swordsman should be used as a finisher.
@@hexxatgaming You can get AoE Inspiration buff via a War pony or even better, via a Sentinel. Personal Inspiration is very niche and works for a swordsman tank (as its main goal is to always be engaged in combat), but not for a finisher. You do not need to force any engagement this way and you save some movement but not having to be tête-à-tête with the enemies. I think you need to change your approach regarding builds - the way you present them is ok but they are solo builds that do not take into account your group's composition.
awesome guide man your contet is top tier. Could you advise me the best setup for a fire build swordman ? you know the 1H inqusition sword that have aoe range , Ulfberht of the Eye sword. Theres an fire shield too but i am not sure if is better use the torch . what specialization is better for a fire build ?
I've played around with that actually. I'd still go for fighter, although at lvl 8 you must get hardcore training, makes you immune to fire/poison/bleed as well as giving damage buffs. It used to be so broken btw. You could walk back and forth in your fire and get insane amount of rage stacks lol. Especially with inspiration, you could build like 200% dmg in one turn lol. But they nerfed it of course.
@@hexxatgaming 200%? LOL that's a lot of damage too bad they nerfed it would be really fun to break the game with the flamewalker meme build haha. So my "original plan" was to make a Protector because I already had a Fighter who had the Glory sword but the Protector ended up being the weakest member of the team 🥶 so I would even respec to the Swordsmaster with a torch to have a free attack to always activate the laceration, however, I don't like valorous chain and medium armor is kind of a waste for the swordsman, especially for disengaging lol. So you're right, the Fighter is really the best, heavy armor, counterattack and destabilization is too good to pass. Guess I'll have to trade the fire sword for the mehyt kopis. Thanks for the reply and keep the good content man
Fighter is one spec I am struggling with early game. It has great sustain and can fight 1v1 but has nowhere near the damage of destroyer as there are no good early game swords compared to the erkeshet mace. It starts to do decent around the level 7/8 when you can actually get attacks of opportunity to deal good damage but I still dont know how to get bigger damage output early. So I usually use it as a bait for the highest guard enemy and clear everything else with vanguard/destroyer/berserkers in those early levels. I am looking forward to continuation of your early game campaign series, mostly for the fighter.
Not all classes are equal. But as I mentioned in the video, his mobility is his strength. Don't hesitate to spend points in str early, as this when they will have the biggest impact. When you have a weapon with 7 str lets say, the +2 from aptitude points can make a big difference.
@@hexxatgaming yeah, I added two levels into movement and then strength all the way. I am kinda sad about the lack of decent 1h swords earlier. Before level 8 there is really only the knight of the eye sword from inquisition that deals burning if aoe, but the rest is quite lacking. I need to get the alazar sword as that looks really good.
They are viable, generally speaking. I prefer throwing knives because they ignore guard. On my warrior, I use the unique offhand axe... cuz its too good 😊
The game is broken atm. I think the quests are supposed to pop at lvl 4 path (each path has 1 quest), but they don't. A veiwer told me that they started new playthrough at 1.0 and it didn't pop for them either.
I hope they do something about it because, as you saw in the video its not just the layer but also the conversion oil which prevents us to properly use the most fun 2 hander in the game 😒
Yes i wonder why some stuff from the EA are missing in the 1.0 The convertion oil was perfect for this sword. And and the swordman don't have the berserker skill that would be nice with this sword
Hey! Depends on the item you need. Just keep killing the type of group that drops it. For example, if you want War bow, only guards drop it. If you need inquisition items, Alazar if full of inquisition groups. Is there any specific item you are after?
We had some issues with the mic making this video. We apologize!

I disagree. Inspiration is super useful. You can force engagement with just using taunt. Get free attack and and double movement next turn.

It's RNG, so good luck! And yes you can only get 2 star, so two slots.
