The squid jerky is usually eaten with beer. Korean food is like about combinations. Chicken and beer, squid jerky and beer, or beer and soju, etc. Oh and Kimchi is not usually eaten without rice, ramen, various kinds of meats, etc., which is also about combinations.

Just found your channel and loving your visit to Korea, a place I served in the US Army and returned 50 years ago. As for the squid snacks, I learned from Korean friends to love getting several dried, grilled squid to take into the movies and eat like popcorn. The ones I remember glowing bright red on the brazier and then, crisp, hot and delicious. This was in the Army town of Tongduchon. I'd be delighted if you visited there.

I grew up in Hong Kong and those prawn chips are found ALL over SE and Far East Asia, they are like a 9/10 for me and most locals. In terms oft he dried squid, they sell one that is in smaller pieces and more “stringy” and easier to tear off. It’s a really good low calorie, high protein snack.

Quail eggs are seasoned with soybean and we eat them with rice as a banchan! It looks and sounds suspicious but it tastes almost the same like eggs! They are much much better and tasty when they’re homemade. And plus, FYI, There are lot of Kimchi and banchans in CVS these days because it’a common now for us to have a quick-simple meals in there when you’re busy and no time for a proper dining. Oh and I loved your video!

Squid legs are an old Korean snack, not a dog food. In the past, a lot of squid were caught in Korea, but it was a snack for children who could eat it cheaply when there was nothing to eat. Not now, but it was then classified as junk food. When I think of it sometimes, I buy it as a side dish. Haha! That's right. It's hard to chew for a long time It was when there was nothing to eat, so I shouldn't eat it right away. Squid is still a favorite snack and food ingredient for Koreans.

As a korean american,, i admire your challenge on trying these snacks. The prawn chips are one of my favorite korean snacks, usually the plain original ones. The squid, it is actually a lot better to try dried squid, they normally put it over a stove (or electric stove) until it dries up, and yeah. Never had the one that you guys had, but i do recommend trying the dried squid (should be able to find it with street vendors or markets, even at korean markets in the states). And the reason why the snacks are a lot sweeter, is because Koreans love sweet foods, so a lot of the foods that you would have in the states that are salty and things, over there in Korea they put sugar in them.

I really like the prawn crackers, I don’t like fishy taste too but this doesn’t mind me. I hope you guys go back and try the food you can microwave like the bentos or the instant ramen.

I enjoyed reading the interesting review. Squid fillets are usually not eaten as is, but are eaten by slightly melting them in the microwave. Although it is not a substitute for gum, it has a long-chewing taste like gum and is often used as a side dish with alcohol. Next challenge? We recommend dipping microwaved squid in mayonnaise and eating it with beer!

Most of the Korean seasoned snacks are recommended as a side dish for alcohol
I recommend the original one for general snacks.

I recommend visiting Gyeongju in Korea. The era before Korea was the Joseon Dynasty, the previous era was the Goryeo Dynasty, and the previous era was the Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla periods. Among them, the Silla region is located in present-day Gyeongju. Gyeongju is the land of Silla in the past. Highly recommend visiting this place. Anapji Pond Bulguksa Temple is recommended. Gyeongju can be reached by ktx and is a historic city located above Busan.

@@chrisandsara I recommend you guys have to try several brands chickens, such as Kyochon or BBQ chickens, which are the most famous brands in Korea. Those brands usually have over 10 types of their own special sauces. Try just fried one without sauce, and traditional Korean Yangnyum(it literally means 'sauce or marinate') chicken, and try some new ones (honey garlic sauce is quite classic now, but I think it could be fit for you; and if you wanna try more challenging things, there are some funny chickens like with Cheetos powder).

1:33 This is a tteokbokki snack. (It says kimchi ramen flavor)
3:00 It says smoked quail eggs. If you boil quail eggs, it's like a mini egg. I think this product is made by baking it without boiling it. I think that's probably why the texture was unfamiliar. (The reason it's brown is probably because of the baking process and the seasoning.)
14:40 In Korea, soda like Sprite is called 사이다.
