    Learning this scale in all positions and memorizing the intervals was such a a pain in the ass... Patterns were ten times more convoluted than major lol

      Fingering patterns in perfect fourths:
      major starting on 5: 135 135 135 235 235 245 245 repeat
      Melodic minor from 5: 135 134 135 235 135 245 235 repeat
      Major was much easier to memorize for me in the beginning, despite the fact that they are intervallically similar.

    Great lesson where would you use the melodic minor in a blues?

    • @jefflordan
      @jefflordan 3 місяці тому

      Dipping into Mixolydian b6 is really fun over 7 chords. If it's a blues that can jump between major and minor while soloing, then that would work great. My first thought is something along the lines of Pride and Joy.

    • @beneunson
      @beneunson  3 місяці тому +1

      In a Major Blues, you could use the Lydian b7 mode on the I chord - for example, if the I chord is C7, you could play C Lydian b7. Thanks for watching!

  • @ashwashakash9008

    • @beneunson
      @beneunson  2 місяці тому

      Good question! In this scale, it's called the "Lydian #5" or "Lydian Augmented" mode, which is different from the standard Lydian which you derive from the Major Scale. Hope that helps! 😀
