In this guitar lesson I'll be digging into the wonderful altered scale and how to use it over altered dominant 7 chords. It's not just for jazzers, and sounds really awesome over blues, rock, fusion etc., and can add some great outside colours to your improvising. A lot of folk are scared off by the potentially confusing theory that surrounds the scale however, so I'll be giving you 5 of my favourite ways of thinking about this - and (hopefully!) simplifying things along the way.

Thanks @matthiasscheffler548 - Absolutely!
Great playing and sound. Can you please share what amp, pedals or plugin you are using for that great tone. Also is that the bridge pickup. Thanks
Thanks @GuitarTeleMan - I put some details in the description, but basically AT+ pedal and bridge p/u for the opening solo
Thanks, I should have scrolled down further. Thanks for letting us know you used the Oxbox... seems to be very popular for UA-camrs.

@@SteveAllsworth Thx Steve, AMAZING CHANNEL !
Hi Steve, I'm a big fan of your playing. I sent you a message via your website regarding private lessons. I thought I would post this here in the case that you don't check that email often. Frank Adamo, Thanks
Cheers Frank - email sent! 🙌🏼
I've bought you some coffees in the past. Tried tonight and the site keeps telling me the payment is complete and then tells me my payment is not working. Great lesson though
Hey @michaelcripe5080 - thanks for the message - I've sent you an email - can't have anything messing with my coffee fix! 🙏🏼
Thank you for this great video. Cry me a River and Careless Whisper are great examples that I can use at once. Now check this out:
Over Em7 play Gm7 Arp (gives you a minor 9 sound)
Over A7alt play Gm7/b5 Arp
And then resolve to D major
You will find chromatically descending major thirds in the II and Valt Arps. I use that in Girl from Ipanema all the time, because there you have II V twice in a row at the end of the B section.
Wonderful - thanks for that Lars - love that tune! 🎸
I actually made a mistake there: over Em7 you play the Gmaj7 Arp. I’m sorry.
