- So newer is always better right? How do Apple’s newest earphones, the AirPod 3rd Generation stack up against the 2nd Generation and Apple AirPods Pro? We do a side by side sound test with all of Apple earphones with music, movies/videos and phone calls. What did we discover?
The 3rd Generation Apple AirPod’s are definitely better than the 2nd Generation. But are they worth the extra $50 bucks? We think so.

Do The New Apple AirPod’s Fall Out During A Workout?: Coming Soon!
When it comes to music, the new AirPod’s definitely sounded better than the old AirPod’s and were very comparable to the AirPod Pro’s without ANC. The quality of music with ANC on the AirPods Pro was a notch above.
For movies, the addition of Spatial Audio on the 3rd Generation AirPod’s made a world of difference when compared to the old generation. This feature is such a great quality of life improvement for the new AirPod’s. It is honestly night and day when it comes to watching content on an iPhone or iPad with Spatial Audio.
For calls, the highly touted piece of fabric on the new Apple AirPod’s definitely helped with wind noise with phone calls. Does it help with wind noise while you run? Check our workout video out for all the details:

For my AirPod pros I don’t use the silicone tips that come with the pros. I have memory foam tips and they fit much better. Just an FYI for you Val and others in here. I don’t get on with the normal AirPods as they do not fit my ears properly. They literally fall out if I move my head just a bit.
My understanding of the wind noise was supposed to be the person in the windy area has better sound quality coming from their microphone despite the wind in the background.

The AirPod 3s sound better than the pros to me. Much nicer bass. I have both.
I just got the airpod gen 3 and they sound good but they fall out my ears more than gen 2 when working out and just don’t seem to fit great in the ear lobs. Think I’m exchanging an going back to gen 2. Now if I was sitting still then I would keep the gen 3
I never liked the pros either. I sold my AirPod pros 2 months after I got them and went back to the Gen 2 never felt so happy with the gen 2!
To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips.
Aaron you are probably one of my favorite channels and thank you for the down-to-the earth reviews! Have you ever thought that the airpods pro firmware updates have been influenced by this release and apple made adjustments so that airpods 3 sounds "fuller"? Would love to see someone test it out using 1st firmware airpods pros vs 3rd gen airpods... Anyways great work!

I love how you note that it is a “word salad” on the website. I like this approach you take a in the review. Also very intriguing choice of music for each of you, makes you more likable, each of you. What kind of music does Monty like? Also, I do like that both of you have fun while making these videos. Gen 3 has the best battery life out of all AirPods. I just got gen 3 AirPods (my first AirPods) and they fit and sound great. I read about some folks saying they were bulky or fell out but happy to report they feel great to me!
Active noise cancelling often handles wind very poorly*, so I think the fan comparison would have been useful.
i believe the pros have a more closed back design for more focus on noise cancelling, while the airpods 3 have an open back for more full/wider noise since there’s no noise cancelling
