- Apple recently released the AirPods 2 wireless earbuds. Soon after, a debate arose regarding the sound of AirPods 2 vs the original AirPods. There are certainly some changes in Apple's second generation AirPods 2 but is sound quality one of them?

Why does a wireless charger need a wire to charge wirelessly? 🤔
The AirPods themselves can charge without a wire. The case can also be used without needing to be plugged in. I guess the only time the cord/charger is needed, is when the case itself is low. And the case I’d say can last like 2-3 days before needing to be charged depending on how often you use your pods. (I have AirPods)

This video helped a LOT because I’m currently thinking about buying AirPods and I keep seeing the 1st and 2nd generation but I didn’t know the difference. Today I found out they are EXACTLY the same but the wireless charging is on the second generation. To me I don’t use or own a wireless charger and since the first generation is exactly the same and it’s cheaper I’m going with the first generation thank you for explaining the ‘difference.’

The important upgrades, that you glance by, but are important are: The new H1’ chip, which replaces the proprietary W1 chip in the original AirPods. H1 is all about efficiency: AirPods 2 pair faster, have 30% lower latency (great for gamers), switch devices twice as fast and boost talk time 50%. Apple also says H1 delivers a more stable connection.
H1’s headline feature: “custom audio architecture”. AirPods 2 are voice activated. Simply say “Hey, Siri” and it can make calls, switch songs, adjust the volume, provide directions, answer questions and much more. Previously activating Siri required a double-tap on an earphone. This is really what should have been focused on. Since there never was an audio quality upgrade claim by Apple, focusing on that should not haven't even been a thing. Your pointing out the slight cosmetic differences to identify Gen 2 were useful, as well as the andriod compatability app mention, so thanks for that. This would be very unplausible if they sounded exactly the same, they might sound on the same level of shittiness, but not exactly the same. But actually a reputable blogger painfully honest tech who is also a musician tells that the difference really is deal breaker, they do sound great finally, passable. Because i heard the originals and I had to sell them - they sound like shit. If the new ones sound ok - I’ll buy them. It's really amazing how Apple can just release pretty much the exact same product as before, give it a "new" name and charge $160.00 for it (or $200.00 for wireless charging). Thanks for this as always. My 1st Gen Pods are pretty much dead or very close to it after just 2 years, I MIGHT get a 50min - 1 hour playback if I'm lucky. Even though I see a "sale" on the wireless today (May 2), no sound quality difference is a disappointment - but not shocking I suppose from Apple.
Now dropping 230+ on these NC A.P. Pro's and still a concern about a meh battery life - and fully expecting those battery cells to die off in a few years doesn't make sense to me.
At this point, If I drop 230-240, I'd rather have those nice over the ear true NC Sony's, maybe Bose and get 25-30 hours of playback. Heck, even if those lithium battery drops in a year or two, 12-15 hours of playback is still darn nice!

No they don't, and we don't need a video for you to explain it. In every 3rd party review and even Apple's own official statement, we know that nothing has changed in terms of audio. The ONLY two additions are wireless charging and support for Siri.

At this loint Apple aren't even trying to hide the fact that they're after peoples money. They even said it themselves there's no difference in sound quality between the firat airpods and the newer once. But people are still going to waste money on the newer once for some dumb reason.
