Faith of Our Fathers: Why Has Christianity Been in Decline?

- Few would be surprised to learn that children of religious fathers are more likely than their peers to be religious as adults. A recent study goes beyond that, however. The Communio Nationwide Study on Faith and Relationships reveals that the collapse in marriage and the resulting decline in resident fatherhood may offer the best explanation for the decline of Christianity in the United States. These conclusions are drawn from the results of a nationwide survey of 19,000 Sunday church attendees conducted during worship in 112 evangelical, Protestant, and Catholic congregations in 13 different states.

It's ironic that the Heritage Foundation is concerned about the health of American families, when no other group has done more than them to destroy the economic and cultural health of the American family.
Any father would be proud to have his daughter earn a PhD in Genetics. Unfortunately, for a religious father, his daughter will also learn that humans evolved from an ancestor common to other hominids like chimpanzees. Any father would be proud to have his son earn a PhD in Geology. Unfortunately, for a religious father, his son will also learn that the earth is not six thousand but more like 4.53 billion years old. The foundational texts of Christianity do not accord with reality. And the various characterizations of the Deity do not accord with one another. Most young people will stick with the reality that they know until God personally demonstrates that he too is real.
Because people are acting like adults and giving up imaginary friends.
I would have liked to have heard the gentleman in the center of the panel get more opportunity to respond. I did enjoy the entire episode though.
There is a concern when the word of God was strong for thousands of years but then all of a sudden over the last 20 years we are being told he has changed his mind on specific issues. What is happening is our religious leadership is catering to this woke agenda to try to bring in new members. God's word is strong and consistent.

Gods word is also full of hate and intolerance on such a level that humanity is nicer and kinder than God. For one thing, we've banned cruel and unusual punishment. I hear God's a big fan of sentencing people he doesn't like to cruel and unusual punishment.

Faith has been on decline because history has demonstrated that faith has been more harmful to humanity than it has been helpful. The family is an even more fundamental part of society in non religious people than religious. Unfortunately for faith, more and more people, today, have access to the information that helps them recognize the harms of faith and the lies told by the faithful about how beneficial faith is. All the benefits of faith can and do happen with atheists too. Atheists have a lower divorce rate, a lower rate of family abandonment, as well as having greater income and fewer criminal children. Plenty of the Founding Fathers would have been atheist if they knew what we know today. As it stands, many were not nearly as religious as the faithful today like to believe.
When feminist's came to our home,, town, country.. They taught mom she should get free go get job,. Soon she and many women became very independent. Then men started to become the bad boy target. Many fathers did not stick around. Now many wont marry at all. First the women, then racial , now gender discrimination came on scene. Look at questions on the job applications. The church has not touched on these. Now we have many in occupations because of fear of discrimination or doctrines to encourage breaking away from Gods pattern from bible, not work college systems. We were not Christians. So it was pretty plain to see....in hindsight now 50 yrs later. Incompetency reins in Govt and big bossiness jobs. I worked 22 yrs govt the rest in Bossiness. Watch and behold as it crumples.

I agree on the family unit breaking up is a huge concern.
But the 3 abrahamic religions going extinct is a great thing for humanity…

Why is Christianity in decline? We can blame organizations like the Heritage Foundation who are weak in their support for Ukraine (a majority Christian Nation). China is watching how the US supports its allies around the world. From their view, the US is weak.
So we're not gonna talk about christians persecuting gay people and restricting abortions on ALL citizens in a state regardless of their religious belief? What if I'm a bhuddist in Texas and want to get an abortion? Christian law says no.
We're not gonna talk about how the first few pages in the book of Genesis are completely false. That's not how planets or star systems form. We have really big telescopes. We've seen what creation itself looks like. Genesis is a crock of excrement. If it starts with bullcrap, it is bullcrap.
