Ranger Veteran content is really rare so your expertise is very much appreciated :) Thank you :) I feel like Greathammer is a bit slow when you are in a pickle, but I guess more practice will do the trick for me
Rewatching this a year later Bc I decided to run a little ranger vet. Would you say the upper tiers of this list still hold up today? Also how do you feel about cog hammer on him?
for what i've seen, cog hammer is often compared to a "reverse base hammer" the light are good at cleaning chaf, and heavy good for armored. Some compare it to an executioner sword. I understand that i'm not the person you hoped to get an answer from, but I hope it helped =)
1h axe is best RV melee weapon with Last Resort build. This way that last axe also gets +25% power, and then you have 1h axe with +25% raw power, which gives much better cleave and stagger. And on top of that +10% crit chance, very easy headshots (so +30% armor from that), good combo with push attack. And great mobility.
I ran into you earlier in quick play and you knew what's up as an Ironbreaker so I assume you know what you are talking about for ranger. I don't know how to play ranger at all so I look forward to trying out these weapons.
Great list! if I was gonna make this list though everything would be the same execpt for I'd put the war pick C or B tier (depending on the build) and put the axe & shield in S tier. I think you underestimate the utility the A&S can bring to a ranger vet and especially as a ranged focused support class. Since ranger vet doesn't have any sbustantial power modifiers (unless your running throwing axes). The A&S allows him to gain insane amounts of temp hp with its 180° push angle and shield bash aswell as CC basically everything for your merc to kill or when trying to res a teamate. Its armor damage is pretty good with its light attacks and combo'd with the grudge raker you wont have any trouble with killing elites and close range specials. That being said I feel like the A&S is only worth taking if your bringing the gurdge reaker aswell since it covers up its weaknesses of not having horde killing power in those dire situations. All in all the A&S is a really versitile weapon that enables a ranger vet to do his job better as a special/elite killing support class.
Thanks! The way I rank these weapons is basically by looking at how good are they on their own without ranged weapons, and without teammates to help out. I personally love the axe and shield, but if that's all my ranger veteran has to use then I'm going to be there a while. The thp generation is definitely very nice, I just don't think the weapon alone is anything more than average in his hands as he isn't much of a tank. However, I will definitely agree that with the right team a+s can serve a very nice function. I appreciate the comment!
Personally I prefer the 1H-Hammer over all other weapons. Paired with the grudge-raker I am currently doing really great in Legend. Gonna try it on cata soon but still have to get used to it as I usually play Ironbreaker, Zealot and Merc. Edit: Just tried the 1H and 2H-Axe. Really don't like it at all. I feel like I am getting 0 THP from those(Ranger Veteran can only get THP from stagger and swipes) Both the 1H and 2H-Axe have weak swipes in my opinion and their stagger is terrible. Which is kinda sad because lorewise the 1H-Axe is the main weapon of ranger veterans paired with the crossbow.
Could you share with me your build? Like weapon perks and traits as well as talent skills? For convenience in regards to talents you could just say 1,2, or 3 from left to right. I just started using 1H hammer with him and enjoy it and am curious how you run your grudge raker. Thanks in advance. Sigmar's blessings to you.
@@Eckster93 Sorry for this very late response. For some reason I didnt get a notification until now which is very weird since its been a month. This is my current build: Talents: 1 2 3 2(3) 3 2 1H-Hammer: BCR, AS, Parry Grudge-Raker: PvInf, PvS, Ammo on HS Necklace: BRC, Health, BoS Charm: PvInf, PvC, Decanter Trinket: SR, CR(with grims), Crit(without grims), Shrapnel(because your grudge-raker can deal a lot of damage to bosses but also the synergy with shades or Grail Knights is great or any career thats considered a bosskiller) Edit: New beta buffs axes and gives them more cleave so I will try 1H-Axe after they release the patch.
awkward. i really like the hammer and shield when playing ranger. I checked this video for the sole purpose of seeing how high it made it on your list lol. that was a quick watch.
That would be because the video creator has made an entirely seperate video entitled "Ranger Veteran Ranged Weapon Tier List", just like he's made for each individual characters different classes. Two videos for each of the classes and all of the characters, one for melee and one for ranged weapons respectively. Which you might have known had you taken 2 seconds to look over his channel, instead of immediately making an incorrectly ironic "gotchya" comment designed for the sole purpose of being a generic lite-troll towards the video creator. I'm going to assume when you searched for a RV weapon tier list, your search didn't include the word "ranged". If it had, then the video creators other video would have popped up in the first few search results. It takes less time and energy to correctly type in what you're searching for than it does to be a featherweight lite-troll smart ass. Better yet, you could actually play Ranger Veteran missions with all of his different melee and ranged weapons and figure out which ones are the best and worst your own damn self. The video creator has detailed vids on practically every aspect of this game, and from watching almost all of them myself I can tell he has put an enormous amount of time and energy into cataloguing all this info for lazy SOB's like you and me so we can have an advantage starting out. I completely detest and despise smug, smart ass, lazy, incorrect wannabe troll commentors on people's videos who don't deserve that and especially who have what you're looking for already. Lift your lazy finger and tap his channel, he's made videos for almost everything to do with Vermintide 2. smfh I can't not even with people these days. Keep up the great work vid creator, it's very much appreciated by myself and many others I'm sure.
@@thomasharman8825 wow it’s game, relax. Not only that, I’ve seen wet Magic’s tier list for some of the other careers and ranged weapons, including the ranger, and they can be objectively incorrect and or misleading for several reasons mostly down to practicality or just his personal preference. You put way too much into a reply post to call someone lazy over this, it’s still just a game LMAO!
Hey you got one right, the 2h axe is superior. People criticized it, especially in vermintide 1, but back then you could even get backstabbery with it making it a boss viable weapon. Unfortunately I watched your ranged tier list for ranger and you got it wrong. The throwing axes should be higher than the grudgeraker shotgun. For one, they’re armor piercing. Two, ranger gets 2 additional axes over slayer. Three, the ability to recall them at any time means you can directly control the ranger perk that gives you the % power damage increase for melee when out of ammo. Four, they can 1 hit kill some elites and and most specials on legend. Ranger with throwing axes is a high skill, high reward style of play. Combined with the great axe, the power increase when out of ammo, the barrage trait and increased armor damage on the throwing axes, and lastly a focus on bombs, you get a very fun and viable cata class build. I wouldn’t use it for the bot, but ultimately if you’re looking for long ranged play styles then all other classes have better ranged careers for that specific job pre engineer. Ranger is a close to mid ranged unit who ironically can accel at melee combat with bombs and throwing axes to supplement his play style. The only reason to use any other weapon ranged is for if he really needs it, but then why not use iron breaker for his bot or play any other ranged career if that’s the case.
I prefer dual hammers, but anyway I agree with the list... except pickaxe ! It's sooo damn slooooow ! I never have the courage to use in real action :/
Pickaxe became my favorite when I forced myself to use it after getting it as my first red, I have 5 reds now but still use the pickaxe when I play Bardin
@@brady4133 my first red melee weapon (and only, at this point after 11 total reds) is the 1H hammer for Bardin. I tried it but can't get into it over my 2H great axe (5% crit, 5% attack speed, swift slaying). Though I was impressed with the hammer's 1hit headshots on legend for certain enemies, SV especially, and it was okay against chaos warriors too. I think maybe I just haven't gotten used to it yet whereas I'm very used to greataxe. I kind of want the pickaxe though, have seen a few ranger bardins use it and it looks BEAUTIFUL!
One-handed hammer is actually way better than it looks. And for my favorite anti-horde grudge raker build it's a perfect combination of being tanky and being able to deal with the armor still.
