Full English captions are now available, thanks to the suggestion of Sir Skitarii Bush. Hopefully you'll be able to understand my gibberish if you weren't before! Also a huuuuuuuge thank you to Janfon1 for sharing the video on his channel! I've never had this many views on a video before this point, I really appreciate it! There's a couple of mistakes that I've made in the video, and I'd like to correct myself if possible. Firstly, I forgot to mention that the Axe & Shield can only stagger monks out of all of their attacks only if you hit 25% PvsSkaven / PvsBerserkers total. In all of those builds you should take 10% PvsSkaven on the weapon itself, 10% on the charm, and then you get 7% more from Enhanced Power. Not only did I forget to mention that, but I've also shown the wrong charm in every build except for the Grudge-Raker one 🤡 Also I forgot to mention what taking Opportunist on the weapon does. Combining that 27% power bonus with Opportunist allows us to stagger not only both berserker types, but also allows us to interrupt all attack animations of Stormvermin, Bestigors and Maulers, including their overhead attacks. I'll probably mention it at the beginning of the next guide for people who didn't see this comment. The Grudge-Raker build struggles a lot with massed armoured enemies, and that's why I didn't recommend bringing it into quickplay. But, a user on reddit called "BeastofBones" suggested throwing Ranger's Parting Gift into the mix instead of Exhili- Exi- Oh, f*ck this. You know what the talent is called. Finding an explosive bomb helps you cover that weakness, and makes the talent viable for quickplay. Also, you can take Scavenger instead of Drunken Brawler in the Thunderer build if you'd rather spawn potions or bombs. It's really useful in a team where 3 people don't use ammo. Happy Hunting fellow Dawi! Khazukan Kazakit Ha!
Didn't expect Janfon himself to even SEE this video! You don't know how much that comment means to me, especially from the master of Vermintide's youtube scene :D
This guide made me like, want to play Ranger Veteran. It’s so in-depth and I also very much respect the subtitles, assuming it was you who wrote them. I tried a couple of these builds, some with my own tweaking and I’m loving it. Great video
My aim with ranged weapons needs some serious improvement, but I am practicing with Ranger Veteran! After leveling him up and unlocking more Talents, he’s quickly become my favorite Bardin career and this guide is just what I needed! Thank you for the effort it took to make a clean guide/breakdown video with great explanations and opinions! I love the suggested builds and can’t wait to try them once I get orange/red items with the right stats xD
Hey, cheers for the nice comment! Glad to see that even after a full year (and with my inability to speak English back then) someone still finds this guide helpful :)
6:20 to 6:30 is my favorite part of the video. Also, your English was quite good back then, so don’t be too hard on yourself even if pronouncing Exhilarating Vapours took a few tries 😂
A fine piece of work, dawi! I'm actually a fan of the grudge raker and the 1H Axe with the ranger. It's not super optimal, but I love hacking down elites and blasting hordes, it feels good for me, regardless of optimization. Don't take it on cata, though! Thanks for all the good advice for soon-to-be ranger mains!
I used to love that combo before I started playing Cata, I've fallen off due to the THP farming problems though. Still, you can farm it with the Grudge-Raker's shove, so it is viable on Cata. I'll probably mention it in my Ranger Mastery video, if I make one.
Thought you did a great job on this and I surprisingly agreed with every single point you made on weapons. I also appreciate the captions. It's not that the English was bad, with a little focus I could understand but you are what I would call a fast talker and was hard to keep up and focus. The captions helped. Subbed because I laughed my ass of at the 6:24 mark. I myself have actually stopped forward progression just to mutilate the one little fucker that appears out of nowhere to stab me in the back. Great job man. Really enjoyed it.
This is like the 5th time i see this video, is just soooo good, i used to only play Ironbreaker but now I'm completely in love with the Ranger Veteran and his crossbow, one of my favourite Vermintide 2 videos!
I hated rangers overall for the majority of vermintides run. When they changed him around a bit ago he became more entertaining to play. While I still prefer the other classes more than ranger, you give me hope. Amazing video and I will get my pitchfork ready for the next vids
I love this career All talents on the left and hand-axes letz me rapidly shift between rapid ranged damage, melee chain-saw, and support with my healing boofs and buffing brews I always have a job to do
It’s been a while, but I love these dawi guides. Just watched this after the slayer one. Take ur time, but I would LOVE to see ur thoughts on IB and eventually outcast. If u don’t get to them tho, I’m glad slayer and ranger vet got these extremely comprehensive guides. Cheers!
I started working on the Engineer Guide recently. I've already got 19 pages of the script prepared and I've started gathering footage. If everything goes well I'll finish working on it before Necromancer / Class Rebalance for Darktide comes out, although don't get your hopes up. I don't know if I'll be able to actually finish this project, as I have a lot of trouble getting back into both Tide games due to my burnout and the fact that all of my friends stopped playing those games.
@@XrayWasTaken good luck with the project, i really get that burnout. whenever i get back into vermintide, i play it super hard for weeks and then usually stop playing for months at a time. hopefully the new update puts it in a slightly better state that maybe gives it more staying power.
Yo we need more vermintide youtubers! Especially ones with such good video quality. Keep up the good work would love to see this become a series. Especially when darktide comes this September let goooooo🔥
I haven't actually had much contact with 40k, but I'm definitely gonna get into it once DT comes out. Vermintide was my gateway into fantasy, hopefully it's gonna be the same story here as well.
Started playing Vermintide recently and ranger veteran was the one that stuck out the most to me out of the starter careers, this video was perfect for decideding on how I should use him effectively and what to look out for as I get better equipment. Also the choice in background music is just top tier, I wish more people used Hylics' ost in videos
The Dawi is my main (I try to play all careers) and your guides have helped a heap! I watched your Slayer vid and went from complete sh*t with him to pretty decent. Looking forward to trying out some of these Ranger builds
Loved the editing alot and how the video stays to the point and doesn't waffle on , I would be interesting In slayer because I struggle using him . But its been 4 months so I won't be surprised if you already made your choice. Also I understood you pretty well but that's probably because I listen to a decent amount of people with hard accents.
Thanks for the kind words! I am actually working on the Slayer guide at the moment. I'm still gathering clips for it and I haven't finished writing the script yet, so it's gonna be a while until it comes out. Slayer was the one Bardin career that I had the lowest amount of experience with before I started this project, so I had to get my bearings first. I have a lot to talk about now and I'll try to make this video as close to perfection as it can be.
Really sold guide, enjoyed every second of it. Your pronunciation is somewhat funny, but since you're not a native speaker (so am i) youtube captions help(i mean youtube can even understand Churchill's mumbling, let alone your guide). The only thing i can argue about is masterwork pisol. Yeah, its a crappy weapon outside the boss killing, but its really good at it. I personally cannot kill bosses that fast with Shade/GK/BW/BH/Engi. Also, you dont need to hit the head like with BH, you just drink, smoke bomb and unload your grudges on that wazzok. Overall - great video, may Sugmar give you strength for some more!
Thank you, I'll try to work on my pronounciation in the future, although it's really hard to record my voice in a flat where everyone can hear me if I talk even semi-loud. Still, I'll take more time recording my voice, and do more takes if it's necessary. I never said that the Masterwork was bad, it's really, really good at what it does, I just think that people give it way too much credit. It's a specialised weapon, and the playerbase needs to realise that. I appreciate the blessing of your manling God, but I personally invoke Morgrim, God of Dwarven Engineers :)
Hey mate, really solid video! Liked and subscribed! The only criticism I can give is the clarity of speech. Sometimes the words slur together and it's hard for me to figure out what you have said, at least initially, although that might be 'cause I'm not a native English speaker. Excellent guide! Even as a Grail/Foot Knight main, I like Ranger Veteran the most out of Bardins careers. I completely agree with your opinions on the weapons, but I could never truly like the Crossbow due to a small annoyance: projectile travel time. Having spent a crap-ton of time with Kruber's Handgun, having to actually account for travel time and headshots simultaneously fries my 3 braincells. Long Live The Boom Stick :D Really hope you continue this series, you really seem to know your stuff! I would especially like a guide on Slayer, because to me he feels like a hobo Grail Knight and is weird to use. Have a good week, mate!
@@XrayWasTaken adding subtitles either in the video or through closed captioning would help, sometimes I watch some people who can’t annunciate English properly, mostly cause it isn’t their native language, like “life of Boris” but with subtitles I feel like I can hear them more clearly.

Great guide! I had been sleeping on crossbow ranger vet (mostly played handgun, might as well just go ironbreaker with that weapon) and had both a lot of fun and good results after trying your build in some cata lobbies!
A mi como concepto, customizar me parece perfecto. Pero el problema es el de siempre, distintos camuflajes y el reconocimiento de la gente de tu equipo.
Actually master of improvisation procs every Time you throw an axe, so not completly useless, might even be decent :) Edit : you just mentioned it after my bad XD
Only melee I ever really use on Bardin as a whole is the Cog Hammer because nothing beats THP from stagger, and man, can that thing stagger a horde.. And if you actually need to kill something, the heavies can fell anything, armoured or not. Only exception is when I use Hammer and Shield on a healshare ranger vet with 35% chance to not consume heals or grenades, and proxy to buff allies, and Vapours to act as my THP source if I do turn out to need some
Personally i like pickaxe on ranger light attack good with hordes maybe bit slower but good and its just fun to go smoke and full charge heavies now than i think i need to try this on melee ranger with throwing axes
Grudge Raker is great. I’m still very new (30 hours) but I have about 500 hours in Darktide and no ranged weapon feels amazing to use, until I tried out the grudge raker and turned some rats into corpsestarch
