Maybe put a thicker lining on the curtains and you might not see the join reflecting. Also you could have them open as a drape and put another piece of fabric up that closes. The fabric does look lovely in the room. The cabinet and writing desk were lovely too.
Do I remember correctly that a member of Ed’s family made beautiful draperies for the château? Maybe she could help you with a blackout liner for your toile draperies that would let their true color and beauty show.
I don't know anything too much about drapes. But who ever made them did the error and at brocante. Never going to see. They are LOVELY drapes. On my lil creative mind, I think removing that lining panel LEAVING A SMALL PIECE OF THE OLD FOR NEW REPACEMENT OF WHITE COTTON LINING SEWN just below the pleating hardware..might work. ??? MY lil idea is to iron on THE COTTON. PANEL. BUT I LIKE THE EASY WAY. THERE IS ALSO GLUE FOR FABRICS AS WELL. 😉👍😁😂😊 I CAN TAKE FEEDBACK ON MY CREATIVENESS..SUCH AS IT IS. 😃
Good work! The drapery term is "puddle" when the panels literally puddle on the floor. The room looks much better. Best to you! Spring is coming! 🌼⚘🌼⚘🌼⚘🌼⚘🌼⚘🌼⚘🌼⚘🌼⚘🌼
A black-out liner in cream or white will resolve seeing that uneven seam. They are not expensive and will also block the sun for sleepers and add a bit of insulation again cold and heat. They feeling of having the drapes help with sound/echo sound in the room. It is really beautiful.
Very dangerous to prop the ladder on opposite walls, I had a ladder slip and nearly fell out of the window from last floor to a sunken concrete hole on my head, it scared me and am very very careful now, unfortunately the ladder does not have a brain, NADA mas.
I swear I thought I was subscribed to your channel! You are an adorable couple whose love shines through! I adore you both! Your darling Emma looks just like me when I was her age. hat an amazing pair you are, so delightful with perseverance and teamwork putting up the window dressings. I'd recommend adding additional material to the drapery, perhaps a solid pale blue along with a stronger lining. Love Anna's big brown eyes. Just watched you over on Billy's channel with the concrete pour, you are so talented and knowledgeable.
i love the old Texaco gas ⛽ pump. beautiful old car, & with a skeleton in the driver seat. the big statue was interesting, & with endowment. Edd chasing Anna's cheek for a kiss was sweet. the curtains are beautiful. someone holding the ladder Edd is on would be more safe. the light there looks so nice.
A thicker lining might work in disguising the join and or put up a contrasting pair of curtains to close .I love them on the floor they look very elegant x
I am not a puddling curtain fan, but it sure works in this case, the light blue touches work real well with the bed, it added some warmth to the room, looks great you guys, your daughter is adorible, all the best to ya both, grab that beer Edd, well done.
I love the curtains and I’m with you Anna I like the drape on the floor . Ed you are hilarious Master Crapsman😂My dad says things like that. Emma is a lovely young lady. She grown so fast . Thank you for the video and the hard work.
The curtains look exquisite. I also love the draping on the floor as it softens it. The lights at Mr Garcia's antique store were a great find. You both have an eye for a " bargain".
I love the curtains but do believe they need to be lined as in time the sun will fade the beautiful print. Great little video. Emma is adorable and I’m sure Charles must be growing taller too. This is a gorgeous room. Lol on Edd faking sleep! Love the light for ten euro’s.
The room is lovely! You could sew 2 (or more) wide cream ribbon-like stripes matching the background color or contrast color horizontally over the seams (and where the seam should be on the other panel). This would then look intentional and read as a design choice. Cream silk would be attractive.
The bedroom is looking so nice! Love it! I remember so many days with you guys out in the rain, cold and mud working on things, it's good to see you enjoying working on a little bit easier things. Sweet seeing little cutie Emma. Happy Valentines Day tomorrow. 🥰💕
Was lovely seeing Edd help Billy with his old convent ‘s gates over on The Pethricks. I do hope there is footage of Edd’s tour of that old convent to come in a future Bordeaux Life episode.
Ed, Anna your both are a marvelous couple, thank you for sharing the good things…those curtains are beautiful and that lamp for 10 euros, just a great bargain.
I bought a pair of curtains plus one double width curtain 290 high, perfect, on Emmaus online. They photographed them folded so I couldn't see the pattern or condition but I took a gamble at 40 euros and when they arrived they were gorgeous greyish turquoise linen, printed with florals fully lined and totally new ! Enough for the window and the double width one will make a headboard and valance and maybe cover the window seat. xoxo
You guys are so funny together! Nice to see you at the convent and brocanting with Billy as well. This room now looks elegant and cozy, and I would a million times love to sleep there!
The toile drapes look amazing, and the puddles add charm. They go so well with that gorgeous bed. Such wonderful taste. Emma has grown so much... and those beautiful dimples! 😍 It's so endearing how you both say each other's names a lot when you speak to each other.
When i saw that light at the brocante in your last episode, I immediately thought it would be perfect for your wine cave stairs. I thought you didn't get it, and I was disappointed, but NO! There it is! Nicely done! It looks perfect.
You have me wanting to come there from Florida with the wonderful antique prices! Of course my husband says no more antique furniture, or there will not be room to walk. in our home! We down sized from a five bed, 2 bath, huge Florida room, and large screen room, to a 3 bed, 1 bath, screen room with carport. It is just he and I for 11 years now. Anyway I can dream for that 1865 home with antiques galore! Love your video's!
Curtains are lovely! I love the long curtains that puddle. Beautiful. ❤ Also, a lighter coordinate curtain under with a tension rod. And leave the drapes as is. Love them. ❤
An easy beautiful fix for the joins would be to sew two blue ribbons (velvet or grosgrain) the same height as each of the joins and the width to cover those seams. This would give a very high end look (Two ribbons per curtain). I would just leave the curtain length and arrange them in a pool/style.
good evening and thank you for sharing. It is a pleasure to follow you to the picturesque flea markets in the area and to discover the objects or furniture chosen by you. Humor and good humor are also there. Then comes the practical part of the installation. In short, a very nice day. , well filled.See you later.
I've BEEN WITH YOU SINCE DAY ONE IT'S BEAUTIFUL TO WATCH YOUR RELATIONSHIP GROWING 🌸 BEAUTIFULLY MAGICAL TO WATCH AND BE A PART OF YOU'RE BOTH SO ROMANTIC AND CHEZZY
I applaud you for "hanging" in there with putting up the curtains. It is my lest favorite job because it can be full of small frustrations! The room is very pretty. Best, Kris
it's all looking good! great teamwork as always. Blackout linings will improve the look of the curtains immensely. you don't even need to remove the current linings, and it will also prevent further fading, and improve sleep. Can't wait to see the garden!
I like when curtains/drapes are long enough to place way up to the top. And allows enough extra at the bottom to create a pooling effect. Just pleasing to the eye. They look fabulous.
The curtains are beautiful and I love the "puddle". Anna I would've said 180 too, lol lol. The flower pieces at the Brocant were beautiful and a good price. 🦋
Evening Anna and Ed. I have a tip for you re curtains. As you know in France your windows open inwards. For curtains in France and in UK I always allow an additional 30 to 40 centimetres extra each side of the window so example if your window recess on the inside of the room is 2 meters I would make the track or pole 2 meters 60 to 2 meters 80 depending on volume of fabric. Three reasons why. Firstly when the curtains are opened they will sit in the additional 30 to 40 centimetres. This will leave you maximum light into the room, secondly this will allow you to open your windows fully without interfering with the curtains and lastly they will look more opulent especially if they are rich, heavy fabric and or interlined. I hope you will find this useful. Kindest xx
If you will or can line the draperies with blackout lining it will solve all the problems. The seams won’t show and the yellowing of the lining won’t show.
The draping of the curtains/drapes down onto the floor is called the "Empire Style." It became very popular during a certain period of history as a show of affluence . . . if a person/family had enough money to purchase extra fabric to make the drapes so they would lie on the floor, well, that was a sign of prosperity or wealth. I agree that the drapes need a thicker lining, not just so the joining cannot be seen, but also to block out the light during the daytime in case someone wants to nap during the day or is ill and needs darkness in the bedroom.
Love the curtains. Maybe a full window insert of antique beige lace to soften the brightness of the window and a dimmer light switch for the wall lighting over the bed? Just random thoughts, like all that you do.
Curtains always look nicer when they’re long in my opinion. They look so good. I’m under five foot 77 and have to climb a ladder to change curtains. Tough but so satisfying when they look good Emma is growing so much She’s a little sweetheart😊
RE: Curtain length With a tie back in place some of the curtain length will be taken up and the bit that is left you can allow to puddle, which is also an elegant look. About the hem in the middle that’s off, I’m wondering if that is the lining as it appears to be. If that’s the case, I suggest removing the lining and replacing it. It’s a bit of work, but lining is pretty cheap and it’s easy peasy to do. Finally, if it’s not the lining, then you might add lining to minimize the effect of the odd seam.
its ok to puddle the curtains on the floor. give them an elegant and robust look. maybe move the top over some more and puff the top a bit more. FANTASTIC!!!!!
Reminds me of my husband's Garage. A real man cave with Coka Cola memorabilia, Hockey and Football. As in American football. Lots of autographs and a Beer fridge.
Rd and Anna. Thank you for taking us all around France. To the antique shops ( my favorite) with all your friends. The french country side and sharing all the different things you do. I can no longer travel and after watching you I feel like I have been to France. I know it's allot of work with the kids and all but it is totally appreciated. Not sure if.younwill see this note but hopefully you know. Thank you.
Dear Richard thank you for your taking the time to write such a lovely comment ❤️ it means a lot Take care and hope to see you tonight at the premiere Anna & Edd x
Love the curtains! The lining needs to be doubled to stop the “see thru”. They look gorgeous 🥰 Light works great.Emma’s grown so much! She is adorable 🥰
Great job on the curtains 😊 Hang them high and let them puddle of you can. Another darker curtain underneath should help with light issues and the joining of different fabric lengths. Good job with those curtains!
I’d LOVE to sleep in a room like that. I’d add a cream or white blackout backing to the lovely curtains. Perfect addition to the room. Happy Valentines Day! Anna deserves red roses, Ed! ❤
Been there, at the top of a ladder dropping rings. I have finally made marks where the rings go before I hang the curtains. Did you know that in The Deep South your level of wealth was judged by the length of your drapes? They have to 'puddle' on the floor to show you are more than solvent! Also candles have to be lit before they are used, otherwise people might think you can only afford them as ornaments. Burned wicks show that you can afford to use them. My daughter in law is from The Deep South so I get these classy tips from her!
OMG!! Cannot believe how much Emma has grown! Even her hair has grown tremendously! Lol. My oldest grandson will be 3 this May. And in the last few months, he has really developed. So independent and his speech is much clearer and precise. Lol, he also has a little female friend at daycare that won't leave him alone 🤣. Just too precious at this age.
It is called puddled, or pooled, for a more elegant look, when you have extra length on your curtains. I love that look. just add a backing curtain that can compliment them!
In Dunhelm uk you can buy readymade blackout linings that just hook onto the heading tape on the lining side of the curtains curtains and it helps stop heat/cold coming into the room and stops the sun fading the curtains it would make the curtains look a lot better

Thicker lining will definitely help. Looks great😊

Oh I just had a thought. Maybe a VERY PALE BABY BLUE LINING!! I think that's about the extent if my ideas 💡 🤔
I love the curtains!!! It was good to see Emma. She is such a cutie!
Emma looks about 2yrs older in this vlog. Very beautiful lil girl. She maybe tall like daddy !!
Good work! The drapery term is "puddle" when the panels literally puddle on the floor. The room looks much better. Best to you! Spring is coming!

Good day Ed, I saw you helping Billy with his convent gates. So good to see so much help and collaboration between chateau owners in France.😊
I agree.
A black-out liner in cream or white will resolve seeing that uneven seam. They are not expensive and will also block the sun for sleepers and add a bit of insulation again cold and heat. They feeling of having the drapes help with sound/echo sound in the room. It is really beautiful.
I would do that. The light fades the pattern on the curtains.
They should be on the floor, they look nice, it's correct
Very dangerous to prop the ladder on opposite walls, I had a ladder slip and nearly fell out of the window from last floor to a sunken concrete hole on my head, it scared me and am very very careful now, unfortunately the ladder does not have a brain, NADA mas.
The drapes look great with the beautiful blue on the bed. The 'puddling' of the drapes on the floor looks fine, too! You two are such fun to watch!
Emma is sooooo precious! Her smile is so big and contagious ❤
Love the shopping trip, I knew those drapes would look great in that bedroom!!!💋💗

Emma is a little 😇 Angel …curtains love them draping on the floor very elegant 👍…and what a deal on the lights😊🥰😘👏
I love 💘 the new curtains. They look great in the bedroom.
I absolutely love the curtains, they look stunning. Very french and very chic.

You’ve just got to open the ruffle on the top of the tighter top of the curtain . Apart from that they look so elegant , and love them on the floor xx
Curtains Look Fabulous Anna. Love Them Long. And The Lights A Bargain. Xx 😘

Oh I love the room with the new curtains. It looks beautiful 💙💙💙 I also like the curtains puddled on the floor 😊
And the way Ed looks at Anna It’s so beautiful. It warms my heart.❤
Love the curtains! The lining needs to be doubled to stop the “see thru”. They look gorgeous 🥰 Light works great.Emma’s grown so much! She is adorable 🥰
Add a black out lining behind the curtains, that will hide the join lines. Also the windows need a sheer curtain too when the heavy curtains are open.
The Toile de jouy curtains are beautiful, and they match the blue color from the bed nicely!
Great job on the curtains 😊 Hang them high and let them puddle of you can. Another darker curtain underneath should help with light issues and the joining of different fabric lengths. Good job with those curtains!
Such beautiful toile curtains❤
I’d LOVE to sleep in a room like that. I’d add a cream or white blackout backing to the lovely curtains. Perfect addition to the room. Happy Valentines Day! Anna deserves red roses, Ed! ❤
Grey is your color Anna, you look beautiful in that sweater

The lantern looks so beautiful!❤❤
One of my favourite lines to say is “it’s a bargain” 😂 everything is looking so beautiful and I’ve loved binge watching your channel 🥰🥰
Little Emma is so adorable❤
That uneven seam would make me crazy, but I think they look very nice ❤😂
Love how things are coming together!! I look forward to the updates.
The curtains are beautiful! Loved the video, much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
Are you keeping your beautiful little chateau now Ed and Anna ?
Leslie we will explain all in the reveal vlog in a few weeks
I am coming next week-end to spend a week looking at the brocantes, so please have the room ready 😄👍
Oh wow! Emma’s grown she’s so so cute. I love those lights you got from the Brocantes👍
Love the way Edd looks at his daughter.
I love the Puddle of drapes on the floor!
In Dunhelm uk you can buy readymade blackout linings that just hook onto the heading tape on the lining side of the curtains curtains and it helps stop heat/cold coming into the room and stops the sun fading the curtains it would make the curtains look a lot better
You are a true reliable friend, Ed! Lending a hand to Bill despite the distance is truly amazing! Hats off to you, Ed! Actually, The Pethericks are also down to earth and very reliable friends, as well.
The music " That's What Fruends Are For fits your group, and so as Sean is.
Very deserving of a thumbs up!
The curtains are fabulous in the room. Spot on with hanging them high!!
The light is perfect. I enjoy your channel so much THANK YOU
I love the draping of the curtains on the floor and Ed hovering! Great vlog!
18:13 Awe! Thanks Ed, we wanted to see that love for your lovely Anna. 🥰😍. Awe! True 💕
Thankyou for sharing another wonderful vlog. I felt rather spoilt with Anna’s perspective on filming. Anymore I could make a calendar with 😉😘😘😘😘
Two thumbs up for your Brocante marathon! Very good finds I think.
If you decide to trim the length at all you could use the extra fabric to mimic those mismatched joins on the panels of the curtains. Love to see all the finishing touches!
YES! And then run a piece of trim across the seams--blue velvet?
The curtains look really nice , I’m glad you bought them.
Put some blackout lining fabric on the back of the curtains and you won't see the join, pull back to the tie backs and create a puddle effect on the floor with your extra material x
