I was exhausted from my entry level hr role and I was applying for an external position since September (now its May). I had initially given up and all these interviews took a huge toll on my emotions saying that either I was too qualified or I didnt have a b c and d. Somehow a miracle happened, just last week I was given a promotion and the effective of my internal promotion is June 1st. Remember dont give up and something unexpected might just happen around the corner.

Got my first job in HR corporate entry level the other day.
I had no experience in HR but I leveraged my leadership skills in other areas and showed my passion towards it in the interview and landed it!
My ultimate goal is to gain a ton of experience to eventually become an HR Manager. It will take time but I am ready for the grind!
Your tips helped so much with career changing, interviews, and resume. Thank you!

I believe its important when employees say "they get bored easily" its not negative its positive, because it shows that the employee doesnt want to be stuck and wants to branch out into different things all the time to grow. Would you rather have a employee doing the same thing for 10 years? or would you rather have an employee doing different jobs in various places all the time? that choice could make or break your clients company. I would go for the adaptable employee.

This is helpful! I got beyond lucky getting a hob as entry level HR I commute to work. I never did HR or office work I went to school for vet tech. I barley knew excel I learned so much and I’m so motivated in my job to learn more and I work alongside of recruiters and we are very open to watching and learning and getting hands on for any position. I learned some basics from recruiters but they learned some from me when it came to processing. I can’t wait to work the next day we work with recruiters when I have down time ima just help with check in’s be fallow and observe to help recruiters! I even took it upon my self to help call and reschedule some group interviews from people who may have missed their interview the recruiter was so thankful I just wanted to waste time and was nervous they be upset that I took it upon my self to do part their jobs but instead they where so happy! I can’t wait to help more especially check in for group interviews. Do you have any good programs for typing? I’m great at pipeline and keeping things update and catching many little things that could cause big problems for future. I picked up excel quickly I did take an computer application class but forgot everything so the refresher was quick. I use to type in middle school good when keyboards where covered. But no matter the practice I’m still one that stares at the keyboard and my hands can’t stay in the right keyboard position. I admire my director and others typing skills where they can type and not look at the keyboard and type so fast. If I were to be tested on my typing speed and accurate for the job I wouldn’t have ever got the job to begin with! I must have done something right in my interview I was honest and didn’t think I’d get it I had no experience no degrees. I told them I’m a fast hands on learner and mind u I’m also hard of hearing they took me on I’m so appreciative of that and the learning possibilities and the fact you can move up with the company. I’m adhd so I gotta carry a note book with me learning new technical things cause I’d be in every department of HR when they show something new they do for their job assaignment so I can help out where needed

It is best to expect the worst, and hope for the least problematic co-workers. And it is always best to keep things confidential, otherwise lawsuits could be targeting you or the company. Because you never know which company and or locations could be your worst nightmare or just simple and steady job. And there's some disturbing stories about workers involving HR (mainly workers getting short end of the stick).
It is still good to have a positive attitude. But it is best to be aware of some situations, even if it is more than you can handle.

It couldn't have come at a better time--I'm starting to explore a transition from content marketing to HR. :-) I had to slow down the playback speed to get all my notes down! ;-D Question for you! I do not currently have HR experience beyond helping my bosses with interviewing and giving my opinion when it came to hiring decisions. I am still determining what function it is in HR I'm most interested in, and leaning toward training & development, and employee retention. You mentioned so many great credentials and I want to invest in them all! But would you say that the aPHR certification is a good place to start? It looks like that's the only certification a professional can get without having prior HR experience, but I wasn't sure what the credential requirements were. Thanks in advance!

While being a shift manager I conducted interviews, created my own set of interview questions for candidates, utilized the store's application system (Talentreef) to find candidates and scheduled interviews, trained new hires, disciplined employees by giving write ups etc. I did those things for 3 years.

Hi! Do you think starting with a Bachelor’s in Psych/Communication and having some months of experience at an internship (difficult to obtain rn because of the pandemic but I am trying) would help me land a starting job in hr?
I will also try to get those certifications since I noticed the hr jobs require them. What are other ways to earn experience? I really liked your recruitment example, but I feel like I will need way more since I’m barely going to get my bachelor’s.
My dream is to go to grad school for I-O Psych, but that is not possible atm due to the high cost, so I hope to get a job in hr, earn experience, and maybe get an employee to help out with my master’s later on.

can you please tell me what you chose to do? I am in a similar situation currently, and getting an MA in HR after an unrelated degree seems like a great option atm.

God yes!!! I actually took a while before I went to college after high school and held many many jobs in customer service. I had so many years of experience as a cashier which translates into cash handling, customer service, communication skills, organization skills, etc.
You'll learn how to market your skills over time to help you land better jobs 🙂🙂🙂

These are not certifications, these are credentials. You can purchase the classes to get them.
