I agree with M R. When people want to live in the miniature world you've created it's quite an accomplishment, and most importantly, Thank You for sharing!!
Jason!! A billion dollars worth of knowledge and here you give it to us for free and I can find no words to express how to thank you for your incredible videos you share. Just unbelievable artistry you have and this comes from all my friends who watch your videos. Again thank you!!
Words don't exist that can best explain how much appreciation I possess for all the time you dedicate in sharing your expertise and knowledge. Your suggestions and demonstrations have assisted me in making my layout far better than I ever imagined. From the simple to the intricate, your master skills come from galaxy's far away and I sincerely offer you my thanks for all you have taught. Incredible layout...
WOW, Thank you so much Bobby!!! I truly appreciate hearing that I’ve made a difference in your modeling. It really makes it all worth while for me. Happy modeling!!! 👍
Jason, you're an inspiration! If you're committed to building such a huge and super-detailed model, I'm DEFINITELY committed to watching your videos! All the best.
I've probably commented this before, but it won't be a new thing to repeat myself. I'm a science-fiction modeller, but your fantastic work with detailing, painting, weathering - in fact, the whole business - is instructive and entertaining to ANY kind of model-maker. The way you explain and break down the process of how you achieve such amazing results is inspirational, and you deserve far more subscribers and comments than you get.
All of your videos are so inspirational! If I'm feeling lazy and tempted to not work on the layout, all I have to do is watch one of your videos and BOOM! I've GOT to do something now!!!
I am so very happy to have found you here. By for you are one of the greatest modelers in the hobby. Thank so much for sharing with us all, and please keep it up. We are in need of people like yourself to bring new talent to the scene. Again thank you so much!!!
Absolutely wonderful Jason. I could get lost in that wonderful detail. Congratulations and all the best for the rest of this terrific layout. Thank you.
Very nice work. Great video for people who are just starting and also people who have been doing already. I would've never thought I'd watch someone paint detail parts for this long but you kept my attention and I did. Nice techniques you have and have shared in this video too. How you do it which is simple but with great results. Thanks for sharing. 👍
One of your best yet. You took it from the start of accumulating castings and painting them to placement of them. I enjoy when you share your expertise on the placement of things. I have difficulty with how you determine how to place buildings to there best advantage such as you did with the placement of detail parts.
Jason - Mike made me a batch of those parts, too! I'm going to take your advice and get an organizer for mine! He's a really good guy! Like I said earlier, I have no words for what you are doing with the layout. I'm just going to sit here with my mouth agape and enjoy what you are doing! Thanks for the inspiration!!
This will be a beautiful layout. You are doing something G. Sellios seldom did, which is give detailed tutorials on how he created the F&SM. Your work and attention to detail rivals his work and going step by step with your videos has been very entertaining. Can't wait to see the maiden voyage of the first loco moving down the line...even if it's only a few feet.
You haven't met my wife. With the exception of flowers she definitely thinks you can have too much. She actually asked why would any body need two wrenches the same size or type
Fantastic details Jason! I think it’s often not realised when you look at a highly detailed scene, how much work has gone behind it. This is why this is a life long hobby!

WOW, WOW, WOW. Looking forward to the continuation of this great journey. What I enjoy most is the detailed steps in each process. Keep up the great work.
Excellent video. It's so refreshing to see someone not need all of the many paints, powders, adhesives, etc. that are on the market and instead use everyday dollar a bottle acrylics, Elmers, etc. I really appreciate how you fast forward some of the more tedious/repetitive portions of the video. The only suggestion I'd make for future videos is to linger just a couple of more seconds on the detailed close ups. Several times just about when the camera focused you pulled away. Keep up the fabulous work. You are an inspiration. Dave

This ls now looking superb. Cant wait for the track laying and to see a few trains running around. I learnt some very good detailing methods and tips in this. Hurry back with the next video. :)
You are at the top of group of people on UA-cam I watch and learn from who are willing to share what they know in an instructive manner. While my hobby is model ships, all the detailing techniques get used to create realism as they remain valid. Since detail is the topic, please allow me to note a flaw on the wooden deck pilings. The rope hand rail is on the wrong side of the pilings and your little people are liable to fall through if they get too close to the edge. Thank you for sharing!
Jason, I just found you on UA-cam. I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy watching all your instructional videos. Your passion and creativity is so inspiring. You have such an unbelievable talent. I’m sure many others have told you the same. Your presentations are so informative and enjoyable. Such all around fantastic work, Thank you.
Magical work. Would you please consider putting together a vieo on how you dismantle bought completed structures to collect windows and doors etc.? This would be one of the best beginners instructional videos I could think of... Separating plastic kits often causes damage to the bits we want so finding out how an acknowledged master does it would help a lot.
Plastic figures usually kill the scenes for me as most usually are the weakest part of a scene but yours look very good as im sure others have noticed as well. I cant wait to see whats next. When you get to the subway, keep in mind that they don't always have to be underground, some rugged areas could have them above and below ground. A small piece of elevated could be dramatic as well. Thanks for sharing your detail workings with us Jason. Cheers, Rob
Kudos, you are an artist! One suggestion. When you do a closeup to show something you just detailed, maybe you could hold it for a few extra seconds. I like to pause and get a screen shot for help with my modeling. Thank you!
I'm new to your channel. Been following me for a couple of days now catching up on some old shows that you posted. The only thing that I've seen so far that I didn't like what's the way your water looked in the harbor but you answered that question at the end of this video by telling me it wasn't done yet. Looking forward to the finished product this water is one of the toughest things to do. I love good craftsmanship and painting techniques. Everything's not always about how many Rail lines wide your layout is I have to tell a story and you're certainly does. I've seen plenty of cab ride videos on warehouses that are housing layouts it seemed to be put together an 8-foot chunks. Seems like the only thing they want to accomplish is to have the largest and the most track. But yours is a masterpiece. Be following the rest of your videos
That was a lot of detailing you did there. You always seem to put things where they should be and take note of the colours around them. Well done. Martin. (Dhaka, Bangladesh.)
Hello catching up on your earlier videos and after watching this one I gotta say, your layout the level of detail is astounding, I haven't got to that stage yet but I definitely picking up a lot of pointers, and as much I love the small details, the sky and clouds on the wall what a great idea. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous, as always thanks for sharing. 👍🚂
What amazes me is your eye for detail, and your ability to just invent structures for your model. It has become quite evident to me that a great deal of time must be spent at the paint booth weathering what ever it is that you are building. The details is what really makes the scene too. You are a MASTER MODELER. Please tell me who is the musician is in the tune you play all the time, I can't get the tune out of my head, a good thing. Whoever it is is a very good guitarist. Thanks. ;-)
Thank you so very much Robert, I really appreciate it!!!! I found the song a year and a half ago on a free music sight. I love it but have no info on it. Sorry

Jason, how ya doing. Looks fantastic, your the next George Sellios. Everything just goes together well, and I like you telling us about the contrasting colors when installing the details. Just wondering if you were going to finish the rest of the bridge mechanism ? Thanks for letting us know how a master builder does (an inside look) it. God Bless Ya Dave
Yet, another excellent video on your amazing work. I'm sure I will be able to do better detail work on my someday layout. I have put details on past layout but nothing as detailed as yours. Thanks to you that will change.I read some other comments and agree I would like to see a video on painting figures, but I am more interested in where you and other get the large variety of different. Seems all dealers carry the same painted or unpainted expensive figures. Do you refigure yours and add to them because I have never seen so many different figures on both yours and other good modelers layouts. Thanks again.
Thank you so much!!! I sprayed it with a dull coat first then used acrylic paint and pastel chalk. I'll do a video in the future on it. Thanks for watching!!!
When I but a wee lad the neighbor across the street had a large basement layout. For cr oil we scenes, ie passenger stations, would use figure castings in the front and fill in behind them with scale figures made from pipe cleaners. Printed cinder blocks. Do I detect a masonary scratchbuild coming up.
Thank you so much!!! The video is called Starting a new model railroad layout. I will have a new one coming soon, more detailed with explanation. Thanks for watching!!!
Jason. I have a question. On the craftsman wood kits you build I see they have large tabs to orient the sides to each other. On a clapboard or similar style building this is not a problem as the corner strim will cover this up. But what about laser etched brick or concrete block walls. Are we looking at sanding the corners to 45° on the back side and hoping to hide the gaps that might happen. Or are the kits made with finger joints between the individual courses so that the courses of one wall actually end even with the outside of the wall perpendicular to it. Think of it as a drawer with box or finger joints. If one uses 3/32 Basswood for example it actually gives an extremely close scale wall thickness as a standard concrete block is 8x8x16. This scales out to within a couple of thousands of 3/32×3/32×3/16. Now I admit cutting this by hand can be taxing on the eyes but with a laser it should be a piece of cake. I've been messing around with the technique the only thing holding me back right now is grinding #18 Exacto blades reliably to the right width to plunge cut end of the slot that the course on the other wall would mate with. I used to have access to all kinds of tool room machinery at work but sadly that's in the past. A #18 ground to 3/32nd wide would make it extremely easy to cut the ends of the slots cleanly.
Jason in one of those videos that You exchanged Your techniques in a project with Your FOS Scale friend Doug, I guess the 4th edition, You used the Krylon limestone spray paint! In which kind of surface can I apply such paint! Can I use it on pink styrofoam to color rock faces, for example? Maybe it can not be use on styrene, right?
As much detail as you wre putting in would have made more sense to start further back. Of course you did say th he layout is in modules basically so I am assuming you can take the foreground section out to work father back. Also are you going to do any forced perspective
@@JasonJensenTrains Well that sounds like some N scale structures & details. Are there any TT Scale details or structures out there that might work. With the plethora of scales out there. We have O at 1/48th, S at 1/64th, OO at 1/76, HO at 1/87 (3.5mm per foot), TT at 1/120, N at 1/160 and Z at 1/220. I'm kind of surprised that we didn't see a 1/96 scale (call it True HO) or a 1/100 scale (call it 100M or M100) come out of Europe. Given the dominance of the metric system in Europe this actually would have made sense. Of course the model railroad scales are no where as screwy as aircraft, ships and tank models. 1/32, 1/35, 1/48, 1/64, 1/72, 1/76 etc add in the really weird 1/33 card models from European publishers such as Halinski (weird because of the ratio in a metric environment). But the model railroad hobby was only going to support so many scales. O is simply too large for the average home layout. S is borderline. HO strikes a fine balance between detail, reliability and size. N is getting pretty damn good. Z and TT I simply do not know that much about.
Jason would you build a Jordan vehicle on a video please. I have trouble with them and gluing them together. The glue I try just dont hold them together. What glue do you use for Jorden models? Jason where are your Bouys at?

Printed cinder blocks. Do I detect a masonary scratchbuild coming up.
Thank you so much for watching!!!
Well done. Do you have a video on your sky backdrop?
Thank you so much!!! The video is called Starting a new model railroad layout. I will have a new one coming soon, more detailed with explanation. Thanks for watching!!!
👍👍👍
Oh good, so another ten years of video enjoyment then!
LOL, Thank you so much!!!
Jason your layout is amazing! Is clapboard made from a laser cutter or a cnc machine or is there another method? Thanks!
Thank you so much Matthew!!! I buy the clapboard and all of the scale lumber from Northeasternscalelumber.com
What brand figures do you use? They look well detailed.
I use Preiser and Woodland scenic
Jason in one of those videos that You exchanged Your techniques in a project with Your FOS Scale friend Doug, I guess the 4th edition, You used the Krylon limestone spray paint! In which kind of surface can I apply such paint! Can I use it on pink styrofoam to color rock faces, for example? Maybe it can not be use on styrene, right?
It can not be used on styrofoam. It will destroy it. It can be used on paper products and wood. Maybe on plastic but I have not tried that yet.
👍
nice
Thank you!!!
Jason what's the view blocker made of?
i was looking for drums and ibc totes for my factory. where can i find that stuff
As much detail as you wre putting in would have made more sense to start further back. Of course you did say th he layout is in modules basically so I am assuming you can take the foreground section out to work father back. Also are you going to do any forced perspective
Yes, I will do some force perspective.

Well that sounds like some N scale structures & details.
Do you have a specific location and era you’re modeling?
Nope, just making it up as I go along.
It is all about finding something you want when you want it. The devil is in the details
Nice video, I think you will spend many years before completing just some of it at this detail.
Jason would you build a Jordan vehicle on a video please. I have trouble with them and gluing them together. The glue I try just dont hold them together. What glue do you use for Jorden models? Jason where are your Bouys at?
Yes, I will do a video on assembling Jordans and also painting vehicles. Thanks for watching!!!
looks very well done, it is just to busy. to much junk.
Thank you so much Bill!!! I prefer alot of junk but I know a lot of modelers do not and I totally respect that. Thanks for watching!!!
You said you just love painting casting, if I sent you a boxful would you paint them for me (just kidding)
I hope when you are away your wife doesn't clean up all your buildings because they look too dirty.
LOL, Thank you for watching!!!
