Insightful as always, but I was disappointed that Russell's answer on the Israel question didn't acknowledge the intense pain many Christians feel (and this was reflected in the question) at the suffering of the people of Gaza. A visceral aching deserves a visceral response - not that more theological or ethical reflections such as those he offers are unhelpful, but they are not the only help we need in grappling with this dreadful situation as disciples of Jesus.
I appreciated the last question. It seems Christian Nationalism and the overwhelming Christian support of far right politics is leading the Church away from her purpose and purity. I’d love to know how we Christians who oppose nationalism can help make a dent in the harm that is being done.
