- K all you Tiller Freaks :p Learn more about the innovation that BRP has developed into a hydraulic steering, 150 HP, 3 cyl, 1.9 litre small block tiller engine. It is hung on the Alumacraft Competitor 205 and on the water this week during the dealer conference so everyone can put it to the test, and that is exactly what we did. Super impressive with many cool features that no one else currently has on the market.
Here is Product Specialist, Eric Olson running through all those features and why you should consider the new Evinrude ETEC 150 HP for your next tiller experience.

I can't believe they went out of business.
I'm sad rip Evinrude
Such a shame BRP couldn’t save this technology.
‘Bout time :) I love it!!
I had power steering for my 115 Yamaha tiller that worked the exact same way. Didn't have to have your hand on the handle like with the Merc Big Tillers, your hand could be on the arm of the tiller, or the shifter if you were going in and out of reverse to hold on a spot and didn't want to take your hand off the shifter (great for holding in a spot while jigging). Other tiller manufactures haven't come out with anything yet because of patents, I believe, that have been protected for a while by Merc who bought the rights from Tim Merten, Titan Tillers Steering System (The one I had for my Yamaha). I bought mine before Merc bought the rights to this technology and controlled the market for a while because of the patents. I wonder if the patents are up now or if Evinrude has found a way around them or Tim Merten is back in business because the no competition clause is now up and he is working with Evinrude??? Interesting, looks the exact same as the system I bought from his company. To say the least the system I had was UNREAL!!!, no fatigue at all and my system did work up to a 250 tiller if you wanted. I am not sure about these systems on the Evinrudes. Good to see other motor companies getting serious about steering these big tillers since it is one of the most important parts of driving a boat, steering it.
the video shows tiller system being used on a 150 hp. The evinrude website advertises it's application for 115 to 140 hp. Is the system applicable to higher HP motors or not ?
So much to go wrong!
As much as I like the idea, you need to expand this system for 75-250hp tillers. The ONLY guys who will run this are going to be on the 205 Competior. How about the guys running Lund Pro Guides or Warriors? How about the guys who are thinking about repowering their Ranger 620T's? Tillers are a dying breed and nobody runs 115's on a 20' tiller anymore and most guys don't want anything to do with a 150 if the boat is rated higher. Expand the lineup to include a wider hp range or this won't ho beyond the guys running Alumacrafts.
We put out more tillers then ever before this year, things are just heating up! Game Changer!
@@Pineridgerida77 any how many of those were on rigs other than Alumacrafts?
@@patrickhoolihan8824 haha good point
