Good mix
Same! Blows my mind every time!
Agreed👌

@@damagicalrhino7951 great pick-up! Special viewers (and Patreons) get early access?
Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots! YES! One of the best songs to sing and play loudly with friends.
I saw The Flaming Lips live at a music festival in Des Moines back in 2008, and they performed it as a slow, "love song" ballad. I was near the front in a crowd of thousands of people, and after Wayne Coyne sang the line "she's a blackbelt in karate" I shouted the "hay hay" sound back. He briefly paused, pointed his finger at me, and smiled a huge grin.
Loving seeing and hearing your musical adventures for this series.
Also saw Flaming Lips early at La Route du Rock, St Malo France.
Great band in a great place, like this vid.
Love the dude who casually walks by with the dog whilst the most angelic harmonies are going on!
Yeah, how come they ignore it? They must be deaf.
@@jamesmcdonald1750 they’re no ignoring it, they’re concerned not to crash the party. With all the recording gear about, this is clearly not a casual concert but a serious recording session.
This happened with me when I happened to walk by an a cappella group in Griffiths Park in Los Angeles. If they wanted an audience they would have made me feel more welcomed. Instead they continued to concentrate on their performance.
I just kept walking while they continued to do their recording, happy that I had their voices accompanying my walk.
@@davidlang1125 Yep, I understand that but I'd have to stop and and check it out. I could not walk past something that sounded that good.
@@jamesmcdonald1750 you and me!
Wow I haven’t heard this song in years. Thanks for reminding me of it and great cover.
Ahh Mr. Ravel, must've been about a century no?
same here
Thanks for keeping longer camera wide shots - and so steady - really made for an easy to watch and listen to video.
Soooo agree. All that 50 cuts a minute nonsense drives me mad!
Agreed! This whole series is visually compelling. The camera work matches the vibe.
This group should be doing some Jayhawks covers. Nice work kids!
Josh you absolutely blow me away by you talent. I see you a Butler student & I a old Indiana boy from Rushvillie boy & makes proud to be a Hoosier. I try & start every day with 1 of you songs . They give me a lift as I am 72 yrs. old I want to thank you for sharing your GOD given talent with the world. Thank YOU so much & love you & Josh together doing Take it easy. It's the best cover I ever heard anyone do. I also LOVE the Amazing Rhythm Aces. Thank you for shearing with the WORLD YOU guys bless my life. I hope the LORD keeps you guys safe in all your travels my GOD Bless & Keep all of you safe. The world need your kind of music & the quality of the musician & vocals of all your friends GREAT doesn't do it justice. I might be able to give you guys a break I am buddies with the guy who ran the RCA recording studio for the last 30 yrs. in Nashville!!!!
That was sick! Shout out to revolving harmony dude and the tight breakdown into Part 2. Wish I came across that session in City Park.
"revolving harmony dude" !
Man I'm on a dopamine detox so I can't actually watch the vid but I just wanna say congrats on 1 year of marriage that is so amazing. Been watching for 7 years now and it's just so good to see how it goes. Keep rockin
That was just hilarious, and so good. I was unfamiliar with this highlight of the Flaming Lips oeuvre.
More importantly, how incredibly tight, both the instrumentals and the vocals, for a pickup band that was literally thrown together for a day. I'm very impressed.
Ouefs for the oeuvre 🐣🐣🐣
Привет из России! Очень нравится то что Вы делаете. Я не понимаю английского языка, но люблю слушать ваши песни. Спасибо.
Transtation: Hello from Russia! I really like what you do. I don't understand English, but I love listening to your songs. Thanks
Я воспользовался гугл-переводчиком, чтобы показать всем, что вы сказали, ура!
А я включаю в плеере ютуба переводчик титров. И кое-что понимаю. ))) Попробуйте воспользоваться этим же способом.
The whole thing is terrific: arrangement, performance, location, videography. This is such an amazing series! Totally unlike anything I've ever seen from another musician. Josh is probably just about the only person with the unique skill set and incredible (and diverse) friends to pull something like this off.
Also, I didn't think I'd ever heard anything by the Flaming Lips, but I knew this first song, somehow. NO idea how/when I ever heard it.
@@AbigailPoirier Listen to "The Soft Bulletin" from start to finish -- preferably through headphones.
"Feeling Yourself Disintegrate" is the highlight.
Ooo Josh and Brandon.. that will be gold
Sunglasses harmony guy is killing it, and l love the acoustic guitar tone.
wow, the voice of Bob Barock is awesome - so clear, so in tune - incredible singer, make your way and write a song for the world!!
As usual, Josh and Friends (like Leonid and Friends), in a live performance, outdoors, manage to add shimmer to the original music.
You get a gold star for the Leonid and Friends reference 😊
I’m on the elder side nowadays. The first time I heard this was when this video came out. Now I can’t get this song out of my head. Josh has introduced me to several great bands. 6:10
Coming full circle - I was following Brandon’s channel when I was introduced to Josh in this collaboration! What a blessing! Two of the most incredibly gifted yet refreshingly humble musicians on the planet jamming together- can’t wait for next week’s episode!
I used to be a big Josh Turner fan, but now I'm an air conditioner.
Hey! My favorite Flaming Lips song. Honestly, Josh, you seem to be curating my all-time play list. With an endless supply of talented friends. PLEASE keep doing this!
Killer drum sound on this one. Amazing job everyone!
I wasn't familiar with this song or with the band that originally recorded it. However, because it was the latest video posted by Josh Turner i couldn't wait to watch it.
Of course I wasn't disappointed. Im now inspired to check out more songs by The Flaming Lips. Thanks Josh and the other bandmates in this video.😊
Same! This song is so fun. I imagine it as a sort of dialogue with evil-twin versions of Steam Powered Giraffe!
The Soft Bulletin or Yoshimi are great albums to start out with. They're a great psychedelic band that heavily influenced the sound of indie music in the 2010's

Beautiful harmonies. This brought me joy. Peace always, Kevin
that electric guitar.... would love to see a breakdown of how you got those sounds..
effects pedal?
I’m always amazed but never surprised at yours and your friends talents. Thank you for sharing this adventure with us, it’s fantastic.
What an impressive vocal harmony! it's better every time I listen it! a simple song, but it puts the will to live and is impeccably interpreted! Congratulations guys! As Josh would say: another level!
The second part of a song was incredible!!! The balance of instrumens was perfect!
Loved the whole thing but the second half sold me.
@@TheDanification Yeah.
This is the first time I have heard this song, and I am convinced. Outstanding song. So much fun. So much hope.
This is great as always. On a side note, the "waiting for a quiet moment" make me think of a video from NotJustBikes called something like "Cities are not laud, car are" and this fact just keep getting exemplified in your vids
Always weird when you realise other people watch the crazily diverse stuff as you on UA-cam. Got to love NotJustBikes 🤣
I absolutely love this series! You guys are so insanely good at what you do! Much love from The Netherlands!
Oh man!! I thought I was the only one who cranked this one back in highschool! Haha! Great tune! Thanks boys!
I cranked this one in my fifties!
The most commercially marketable song of the tour (not that the trip or music has to be commercial). Fun BNL feel!
Part one has always been my favorite flaming lips song!
Half the charm of The Flaming Lips is Wayne’s unique & fragile sounding voice, but this sounds cool with perfect voices too I guess. The drums sound realllllly nice.
I want a vinyl of all episodes including the dialogues and narrations between each song.
I'd buy it!
@@jerryjb totally
@@jerryjb me too.
I forgot about this song! Thank you for putting it back into my rotation, this cover funks real hard, y’all!
great setting. I can't believe there weren't more passer by's. Excellent song choice!!!
Brilliant rendition and harmony of voices 🤩🎵🎸
Josh, you never disappoint and continually surprise me!
What an amazing rendition of a beautiful song
gotta love the Flaming Lips...great job by Bob here
lol I knew I recognized that little melody you sang at 6:09 but I couldn't make out the words and the fact I couldn't place it was absolutely killing me. And then I realized y'all were crossing into Illinois and it hit me.
"take us, to glory..."
Oh yoshimi, crossing the ippi, playing with Brandon’s big bad theorbo
I appreciated seeing Josh in a rare (based on published content) moment of humility at the end where he apologizes for not learning faster. It was surprising to hear him say that as we, the audience, only ever see him after he has already perfected his performance. Great call to include that moment.
This brought me to acctual tears. Beautiful.
It’s always so special hearing nostalgic songs come back to life through your channel. Thank you for this one ❤️
I am old. I recognize truth. Within the definition of truth, is Josh, Raina Del Cid, and this Bob dude!
Hi Josh and Kelly. I enjoy your music and seeing new places through your travels.
Something so nostalgic and melancholy about this song, first time I'm hearing it
at 5:16 josh does that head nod at the drummer in perfect rhythm. damn that's badass
Love this serie so much, congrat for the work and the talent!
Damn cool sound!!!! Y'all fending off those robots with style
HILARIOUS ! Wonderfully accomplished musical and literary art. Thank you 😊
The joy on Josh's face is insane. This is some great piece of art on all levels! What a trip 😘 thank you.
This is so gaddamn good. Blows me away every time. Thank you for this
Love the music from such talented friends. I am really loving and enjoying your trip and music. I hope you plan to do this again.
"The 'Ippi'"... friggin' fantastic...
Beautiful song. Love the harmonies and the outside performance. Thank U Josh & friends..from Karrie Australia.😊❤️
Never thought I'd listen to Josh and Co. playing Yoshimi! So great, love that song!
Just saw them in boulder in march. greatest trip of my life. topped off with my favorite musicians. much love josh and bob &friends :)
How can the dude with the dog simply walk by? I’d be starstruck!
He’s a robot
I agree. I'd sit and listen...not in camera view, of course. Everyone is so talented.
Fantastic always loved that album
Still enjoying every chapter of the series! Great music and great everything!
This is nuts. Historically a classic staple song amongst my friend group, on one of the most influential channels to my current state of musicianship. Love seeing something so far from the normal stuff like this - don’t get me wrong, I’ll listen to everything you put out and appreciate it all, I never get tired of your covers. But to randomly have some legendary psychedelia in here!?! Bro. Thank you.
The audio recording monster is back, that was... wow. And YES! Brandon! YEESS!
This was great guys! Never heard of the band or the song but glad that now I have. Thanks!
Josh, you and all your friends are soo amazing, oh my God! Thank you again!!
Awesome guys! Love it. Ill slide that right onto my next playlist! 😍😍
Such a great song
great song, fantastic sound/mix and performances. another exceptional cover. this tour series is perfection, love it so much. hope someday you can make it for an Australia tour
Thanks for introducing me to this song. You have an exquisite taste in music.
OMG OMG OMG OMG
Flaming Lips put on the best live shows I've ever seen.
Why dose no one stop to watch and listen ? I would . Thank you.
Beautiful and perfect as always!
It's wonderful to see this musical journey! I'm waiting for the next episode :)
Simply brilliant 👏. Love it
What a song have I just discovered!!!! Thanks
I’m blown away by how well you have mic’d your upright bass. Really gave a rock solid foundation. Great job guys!
Fantastic, top quality. Love it.
Thank you so much for covering this song. Amazing job!
Such a beautiful cover. Such beautiful singing and excellent approximation of all the counter melodies by Josh. 👌🏼🙏🏽
I never heard this song before but loved it. Killer sounds all around but I was most impressed with the bass and drums. I love the way you from different collaborations for various song projects. Quite impressive!
Cheered my morning! Great!!
Absolutely spectacular cover
That was fantastic ! thanks for sharing.
wow, great song! and the drum sound.....wow!!
Never imagined y'all covering this one; great choice!
Your final mix from these remote recordings is fantastic....Just for fun sometime, playback the raw sound before EQ and mix to hear the difference....for just a few seconds.
One of my favorites!!
Scarily accurate arrangement, the low end has all the right thunck to it, cymbals flash, filters are bang on. The spark that bled next please!
A Flaming Lips cover! OMG! You made my day.
Its creative with a focus on learning, its "Beatelesk"! I Love it
Lovin’ your work guys!
That drum compression on Pt. 2 perfectlyyy gets the sound of the recording!
Never thought I'd see you give this song, but I love it!
Top notch!!! Really enjoy all of the collaborations :)
This has to be the best cover of this ever laid on tracks 10/10
The first song kinda had a bit of Frank Zappa or Spike Jones in the end to me but I’m pretty old. I loved the song. I’m surprised that those people walking by don’t stop to listen, do you have security chasing them away. Very nice.👍👍🇨🇦
Love this tune! Great cover!
Man, it's been a long time that I've been following you. So happy to see how you enjoy your talent (and hard work). Keep enjoying life! Peace and Love from Minnesota. Swing by sometime: some excellent music venues here to play in.
