If you live in CA then you need to share your wealth...you are lucky they took only your cat.....they could have taken your whole car and dismantle it, or vandalize it...like they do with all the pop's and mom's shops...

@@mufflertech There is now - We live in the Central Valley and just recently had carb stolen on 2004 Honda Accord that’s sulev. CARB now approves this aftermarket catalytic converter. Look up part number 770134, I found mine on ebay $500 before tax. They WILL ship to California. You will have to keep all documentation. Even though our engine family was not listed on EO #D798-10, CARB will approve catalytic converter 770134. You must FIRST contact CARB (Submit email to: vref2@foundationccc.org) to request an approval for Muffler shop to install. Then show muffler shop the email addressed to you. After installation, you will get an email similar to this- After catalytic converter #770134 with E.O. #D798-10 is installed for your SULEV certified vehicle, please reply to this email with pictures of the installed unit, invoices for purchase and/or installation, and a copy of the registration. I will be able to clear you for a Referee appointment. The vehicle will have to pass at the Referee so that a BAR label can be attached to identify the accepted catalytic converter for future smog checks. Hope this helps. God Bless.

Made me so infuriated, as I am sure, we all felt the same way. Just want to say please continue to make these videos, you are really giving great info to people like me that knows nothing mechanical about my 2006 Honda Accord. Can you tell me if there is some type of shield or bar I can ask the shop to put on my new replacement CAT to prevent this from happening again? I cannot sleep since this has happened. I sit awake all night long listening to see if they come back. I'm extremely paranoid.
Hi Tili, thanks for the compliments and for watching. If you look into my other videos I explain the roll bar that we install, it’s more expensive then rebar or some other alternatives but it works.
Why not protect after by welding plates along the cat on both sides, like at a angle of 45degree or so, this way they need to cut thick plates before the cat?
@@mufflertech we are talking about cars over 10 years old. no one cares of dealer warranty. The service you are charging is more than the value of the car in many if not most cases.
@@philindeblanc the warranty concern is on the $1500 cat not the car. We have to stand behind what we sell and we will not do anything that will void a parts warranty. Our roll bar has yet to be defeated.
Please where did you get that triangle flange at 4:29 on the left???? Shop didn’t even both putting that piece on my direct fit they just welded a pipe onto it
@@mufflertech the muffler shop didn’t weld that part to mine just a pipe on a the rear end of the flange they didn’t bolt it up. Should I be fine like this or should I find this part have them cut and reweld try to fix it?
@@mufflertech thanks for the swift response. These guys know what there doing I would’ve brought my car to you guys . However when they welded I also believed they didn’t disconnect my battery and ground it so my battery and alternator were all messed up and car died on me while driving. Hope nobody else has to deal with this
@@clinteastwood666 if you ground the welder to the exhaust properly you don’t need to disconnect the battery. I would ask the shop that did this for you to follow up on your issue.

Thanks for all great video. I am in CT and I have Honda Accord 2006 EXL SULEV model. I have check engine light on for P0420 code means Catalytic converter code. There is no issue for emissions test over CT but can you suggest which aftermarket parts I can installed ? I used waker 82895 direct carb cat replacement but check engine light is back for same code. Any help is really appreciate! Thanks.
That cat should fix your issue. Was the cat stolen at any point? If so we’ve started to see a few of these cars come in with a shorted ECU to the downstream sensor.
We don’t buy our parts from a website, we buy them from our wholesaler’s. We recommend you buy the parts from your installer so that you have a warranty on parts and labor.

Just took my 2003 Honda Accord EFN 3HNXVO2.4KCV to Smog referee and received my label with the same catalytic converter in Sacramento!

@@mufflertech wow, so what happens when aftermarket cats that are super cheap do become available ( see non CA&NY models sell for $80-200. Even the Walker brand cats are about $300-400ish. Many are selling their cars. So sad that these states cant simply lift such regulations until manufacturers are able to replenish stock. Just happened to a friend of mine on their super low emission engine.
@@philindeblanc they do have a provision for this in California, the problem is the longevity of the part staying legal and the hoops you have to jump through to smog the car, that’s why we don’t recommend it.
So did you give a ballpark figure on what it will cost or did I miss that. I know cars differ but give a clue man. For those of you that cant get parts, have a straight pipe put on by any muffler shop until the good cat comes in. Dont panic. This thing is only for when you have to smog it and not to pollute air. It actually does not hinder car much. Even with the sensors off. Your fuel consumption may go up a some but you'll be able to use the car. Again, dont panic. I am into my 5th month. Car runs ok.
It is okay to be aftermarket, however, it can’t be different in size or 02 placement. The one in this video is actually a Walker part as the Honda ones are so hard to get right now.
I came to your establishment for custom exhaust work done and I was promised vband flanges on my exhaust. Even paid for vbands. They destroyed my cat, and pinched all of my 3" exhaust and destroyed my muffler. Never going there again

Are those flanges really needed? Couldnt you just add more pipe in the front and back of the replacement cat and just weld it in place?
For the sulev Honda’s why do need oem catalytic converter? Why not just a carb compliant ?
There are no parts that are on the CARB list for an SULEV.

Welding to the cat itself can void the warranty

We order them in bulk from our wholesale supplier.
