- I don't want to be negative, becuase I really love the idea of Digimon Con, but I will say that despite having REALLY low expectations I was still pretty dissapointed. At least we know they're working on the Story game still.

At this point i feel like we are begging, they can give us anything but we need something a remaster collection of digimon world 1-4 or of the ds story, a port of adventure psp, we need something
At this point I would just settle for a re-release of the old games on PS plus like they did with ape escape and Wild Arms. Like I don't even have PS plus anymore but I would totally get it again if it meant that I could replay the Digimon games
at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they gave up on the video game content part of digimon in favor of their TCG, mangas, vital bracelets and visual novels.

Capcom hasn't made a new Megaman in years but at least they have put out some ports.
And Ubisoft probably does hate Rayman.

If Ubisoft cared about Rayman, they would have remembered his 20th and 25th anniversaries. You know, for the character that made them. Am i being unfair to Bamco because im a fan of the games? Absolutely. Still, until they put out the new story I will continue to say it.
@@oldmanbiscuit7518 Digimon is more than just its games, though. Like, I want a new Digimon game myself but I am not going to see all the new stuff outside that the last couple years and go "Bamco hates Digimon specifically because of the lack of games".
I acknowledged that megaman is only getting ports (and some cameos). That said, the last few ports had extra work put into it, especially BN collection. It can be said that Capcom has downplayed Megaman (although, let's be fair, 20 years ago they oversaturated the market with Megaman games), but Megaman isn't so dead that Capcom can be said to hate it... unlike 15ish years ago.
Why are you defending what you said about Ubisoft? I agreed with your initial statement.
As most of the Digimon merchandise is very hard/expensive to get where I live and the Con is mostly about that, I wasn't excited and it wasn't possible to disappoint me too much. No new info about a game was pretty much what I expected.

As a card game fan, the Liberator section absolutely carried the Con for me.
I don't play the card game not enough players in my area but that felt like the only part the con was focused on outside of the new digivice toy

TBF they released a new digivice which you know is going to sell out within days, they also had a whole segment on the card game. Merchandise is where they make most of their money. But after cybersleuth's success its weird they aren't focusing on upcoming games at all. Just wish that they'd localized the Chinese mobile game so we'd have something to play in the west. I hate that there's been a tamagotchi game for the past 5 years but none of the Digimon mobile games last that long 😢

Has digimon con ever not been disappointing? They say digimon is one of their flagship brands but I'm not feeling it. How do you not have a digimon anime for the 25th anniversary? Feeling pretty burnt as a digimon fan. Oh and the digivices are insanely expensive for what they are.
Yeah, the first two were better off, I didn't find them dissappointing. Even outside of a lack of game news this new one is kinda... fine.
I know people were disappointed in the event as there wasn't much game news, and even I felt the English side of things wasn't handled well. Still, I had fun watching it and learning about what's coming up next. I'm a Digimon fan that gets excited for the TCG, and other projects going on in Digimon. Yes, I'd like to see more games, but there are other things to look forward to. While I understand Palworld has started a boom in monster-collecting games, you can't expect a company to have something ready after a game has only been out for a month. People are just expecting way too much. Those are just my thoughts, and I'm sure will see something soon. We just have to wait.
I enjoyed this year's Digicon, same as last year but I still wish that they talked more about future projects. Also, I wish Bandai Namco would port more old Digimon games to current consoles.
They didn’t leave us absolutely hanging they acknowledged it which is fine it’s still in development and I appreciate them letting us know they want to COOK
It wasn't enjoyable on the video game front, but I did like the news involving the card game, especially with the online manga.
Good video just a slight note. You said "A ton of Nostalgia, especially for Westerners." Digimon is more successful in Japan than it is in the west. I say that as someone who lived in Japan for a while. Due to that popularity Japan still gets toys and Digimon products that never make it to the states. In fact, during a recent earnings report, Toei said that Digimon was still their third biggest franchise in Japan behind Dragon Ball and One Piece. The fanbase in Japan and the West is quite different for sure, but there is more nostalgia there than overseas, especially since the whole Digimon versus Pokemon argument wasn't so much of a thing in Japan.
They will at least make it to Asia, I think? But that is hard to say too.
I saw their survey and literally told them "more distribution globally outside of US and more games please".
Literally can't get most digimon products here in the UK and even ignoring that, the games (which are one of the few things you don't need to worry about getting physically) are something I doubt we'd get news in, but still wanted more than anything; even if its just a port of an older game.
When the con said "hey look, a new digivice" as excited as I was to see it, I know I'd never be able to order it. Especially since Premium Bandai likes to only focus on US and Asia. So the con ended up being a showcase for the TCG and stuff I can't have. (Yeah i'm a bit bitter, but with reason. I believe everyone should be able to get the merch from the con and not worry if it's a coin flip away. That and even using amazon sometimes the JP version will just refuse to ship overseas).
Sorry about the rant, I just love digimon and the lack of really anything, even the smallest crumbs feels disappointing. I'd even accept the original digivices from the show (always wanted a d-ark but they never released them where I live), I'm even considering the overpriced Ebay listings at this point. :(
the card game was the only thing receiving updates and even that, Liberator is hidden away in their website, big marketing fail. Persona 3 put their webcomic on Webtoon to gather new players, a smart marketing tactic, meanwhile Digimon puts their webcomic in a website that most people don't visit or know it's existence.
Never seen such marketing incompetence for a franchise in my life, it's like they don't want new players or something like that.
And about new games, the new story game was announced when Survive was shown some gameplay after the dev studio switch, it's been like 2 or 3 years since that, the Story game was in development before that announcement and somehow they have no footage to show us? Unbelievable.
Finally Anime, the last original anime was Ghost Game which started airing in 2021 and finished airing in 2023, that was last year so maybe they didn't have time to make a new Anime yet, still what we had before that was Adventure remake that story wise was worse than the original and after that Adventure 2 sequel movie. No new Anime announcement for this year, not even a movie, no real teaser apart from a phrase saying "the adventure continues".

The Story game was actually announced WAY before that, hell when Survive was originally announced it was meant to bridge the gap between Hackers Memory and this next Story game.
At least they acknowledged the new game's development, so not too disappointing.

whats worse about their acknowledgment was that the new producer in charge of digimon has “Heard” its in the work. They love using that word to the point its a curse. “ we hear you” I hear you” god…

I can't justify getting that color digivice right now, but I'm very excited about Digimon Liberator. I wasn't feeling the idea of a manga about the TCG before but the trailer and the new digimon revealed got me interested.

Considering that Digimon only exists in the West as a video game franchise these days, yeah; Digimon Con was disappointing.
We don't get any merchandise, the Anime isn't even advertised over here and nothing else Digimon related even comes to mind. So yeah, at this point Digimon Con is really only for fans in JP.
Alas, I expected that. So I'm not super surprised. When they want us to know something about Digimon, they'll reach out. Somehow.
I think people need to understand the Digimon Con is not a game event. Never has been. Its an event mainly about fan interaction. There's always reading fans comments and wants, there's talk with voice actors, there are live concerts, there's a tcg tournament. We'll never get any kind of meaningful news about Digimon games out of this particular event and that's fine. The anime rarely gets news worth mentioning (those are saved for Memorial Day usually).
They do a schedule of what is going to be in the event including announcements beforehand. It's very rare we get any surprises from Digimon Con at all.
I think a part of the Western fanbase hypes this niche and very Japanese kind of event to the moon every year (often making people from outside the fanbase also believe there's going to be big things) only to get angry it's not the announcement show they expect.

That's the thing though, its a general digimon event. They even have a game segment and showed no games at all other than just saying a game is in the works. No one have ever claimed digicon is a game only event. THey literally revealed many neat stuff, hell they even spend a couplr of minutes just to talk about a new century event...WHICH IS EXCLUSIVE TO CHINA.

Tbf I mentioned this in the video, but they announced new merchandise, new tcg stuff, new vpet stuff, so its not unheard of or out of the realm of possibility for there to be new game stuff. I get that Digimon is not a video game franchise, but to me its like, why have that segment then? In 2022 they actually talked a lot about the upcoming title and it was interesting IMO.
I was honestly hoping they'd announce some sort of project concluding the adventure series celebrating the 25th anniversary (like Kizuna and Tri back in 2015 and 2020 celebrating the 15th and 20th anniversary respectively). Honestly, Kizuna left more questions rather than answers back in 2020
I think Bandai should use Digimon as a basis for a Palworld inspired game. I mean, Digimon already have guns, and a larger studio behind a game like that could work in its favor.
I don't really like shooter game or survival as a base game. And digimon is more focus on raising aspect on it than collecting a creature, yeah palworld is popular but if digimon doing that i pretty sure we get another World 4 "No polish, just copying trend, don't have identity"
For now i think is more save if they can fix there rasing mechanic, make a good story and, polish there art style.
I'm honestly surprised that Digimon doesn't have a survival game yet. The world games (world 1, re:digitize, and next order) are already pretty close to it with sleeping, hunger, and fatigue being ingrained into it, even to point of collecting resources to build buildings in next order. A survival game would really take advantage of digimon's virtual pet roots, it feels like a match made in heaven

Even just saying "Hey we are going to port the old PS1 games to the new consoles and sell them as a collection" would have been nice. It just seems like Bandai really have no idea what to do with the Digimon franchise. I wish they would take it as serious as the Dragon Ball franchise and give us a ton of games each year.

They could have some B teams work on touching up World 1-3 or even give us an official english port of Redigitize but they refuse not to. smh hell port the story Ds or dawn and dusk shit. As a life long fan of the franchise I know what im getting with digicon which is nothing of real importance. Habu did not step down it was a company wide personnel change. One would think with him being out of the role since last april they would of at least shown who is in charge now. The new Story game has been in development since at least 2017 it was being worked on while hackers memory was in development. Last digicon with Habu saying we have no funds to make these projects shows how shit is going on behind the scenes. I expect the worst till proven otherwise.
Going by that poll they put out a while ago, they have no idea what to do with the IP videogame wise. Which has been pretty evident tbh.
There are two major camps. Those who want the classic Monster Rancher style Digimon World gameplay.
& those like myself who want the more typical RPG / Persona light experience we got in Cyber Sleuth.
So they get mixed messages from the fanbase all the time.
I woke up at 4 am and wasted 3 hours in which I could have been sleeping, just to watch them talk about way too much stupid stuff. This Color Digivice is boring, only good thing was Liberator which looks nice.
Still they had the best opportunity to show us something about new games but decided to give us nothing, just a small phrase of "...will be shown soon".
Digimon Con gets more boring each time, very sad about it.

Is not a direct though so if you expect somtime like that you miss place it. If you want digimon game just hope In TGS "Bandai Namco" have some announcements not in con.

I think the problem with Digimon Con is that “everyone” who is watching it wants to hear news on the latest video games, TCG, & V-Pets however the Con spends too much time with the actors, Augumon Segments, etc. Those segments are not horrible & are neat but when you are sitting their for 3 Hours waiting for new news it’s a lot to ask for their fans all over the world when treating it like the latest Digimon new versus being a Celebration of the franchise

I don’t ask much man. That would not be very hard to do for them until the next story is ready. And whatever they might be working on besides that (new world maybe).
I love Digimon merch but most is in Japan so expensive to get compared to say Pokemon (and frankly Japan often gets a lot of better stuff for every franchise including Pokemon, but at least we don’t go hungry in the west for official merch released locally).

As someone mostly focused on games, i figured you'd be disapointed with the Stream.
Me personally, i just vibed. I liked the cute vtuber agumon, the little popularity surveys were neat and the merch reveals were pretty good. To me the Liberators stuff was the highlight of the show (as a fan of the TCG and Comic lover).
The video game players may be upset, but the TCG and Comic people were/are eating.
As someone who knows bandai-namcos deal, game reveals are always a hope, never a promise, and that was the trap many people fell into (that and people thinking the even is more like a pokemon presents). I would have liked more definitive game news, but....its Bamco. Bamco doesnt give digimon (games) much love, and that is the unfortunate truth.
Perhaps there will be more video game news in the coming weeks/months.
I mean there is a huge argument that the gameplay ideas of Palmon fit a lot better in the Digimon universe. I mean, Digimon would work so well as a survival monster training game. (Where the player also can use weapons)

All they need to do is a remake of Digimon World 3 with more digimon and maybe a multiplayer option. They could even keep the old graphics. The card game in there could use a little rework as well. That's all I need to give them 60 bucks

I am a fan of all Digimon!...and outside the cards, everything was disappointing... :(, Bandai namco has Digimon fans living on crumbs, not that they are better with their other series, being a fan for example of the Tales of series is living constantly disappointed by the attention that Bandai Namco gives to the series.
Honestly only games they was on to something with was cyber sluth and hackers memory after that it went down bad

i would play new digimon story game on ps5..but they're taking forever to make one. Coronamon and that new pikachu+sonic mix digimon would be good starter partners.
bandai namco and the digimon team have always kept its gaming fanbase dry... i stopped being surprised after they left us nearly a decade without any new games

I personally think it's the management, that's too conservative and doesn't want to try sth. new, which probably will lead to that the franchise will stay very niche or even dies out. Same with Dragonball. They could do so much more and interesting stuff with Dragonball but they make always the same stuff.
Here's my list of things for Digimon to do:
A Digimon Tamers Sequel series
A Digimon Frontier Sequel series
A Digimon and Dot Hack Crossover
At this point just make it new series. I'm tiered with make sequel in digimon we already have Tri , last evolution, Reboot and The bigging it's enough milking of sequel.
Make a new series or uses underrate concept like olympus XII, X antibody to make new series.
It's always dissapointing, there is never anything exciting, its always JP exclusive products and musical performances. I just want new century to have a global release :(

Because who is responsible for game is "Bandai Namco" not bandai them self. And who responsible of anime love it or hate it is toei you will never see digimon anime from other studio even if bandai want it. Same as game.

You know digimon would fit the palworld game really well
Digimon would fit the gameplay of Palworld pretty well, as long as you limit the Digimon stages to Champions or Ultimates if you want to have the human fight, with guns.
The reason is that there's a huge power increase as you go up one stage and I would peg the average boss pals to be equivalent of a champion level digimon and the peak level for pals to be equivalent of an ultimate.
If the digimon megas can be taken down by a human with guns, then those megas don't feel like megas. Especially when you have digimon megas that are completely covered with some indestructible alloys.
The power scaling would need a lot of thought to fit digimon.

Digimon really missed out on the Palworld style gameplay...
If they made a game where it is similar to Palworld where: You as the Tamer, going around with your Digimon, or Digimons, and fight alongside them or become them, in some cases like [Digimon Tamers] where they kinda become Digimon in their Mega Form, it'd be great... I wanna explore the Digital World and every other iteration of File Island or File World and just explore there. They could easily make their own version of Game that is kind of like Palworld... They truly missed out on this because they're so set in their ways. Like every other Japanese game.
I believe if they sold the ownership of digimon to RABBIT AND BEAR studio we will have a 10/10 digimon game

Then there is so much investment in AI, yet nobody wants to make a VR game about interactions and building relationships with characters as you go through a story.

I mean... it isn't a dying brand, though. Still better off than around when Xros Wars came out.
I am now 100 % convinced the digimon company does not like the west. The only things that do come here are mandated by Bandai. They make exclusive games and content for the east. But we get port overs counting survive as a port over cuz they couldnt do english voice cast.and they couldn't even bother to do a real English broadcast and have the English voice actors.pokemon is boring but atlest pokemon is for Everyone.
Digimon developers have just given up
first... Digimons is a game IP, the problem is bandai and toei are stupid... . Also a BIG PROBLEM now from the digimon games is kazumasa habu, the best game productor diigmon has had is literally no more on the companny, so... yea... digimon fuck it again.
Bandai needs to go all in on digimon games. If they really wanted to they could market it as more adult Pokémon.
