Finally a proper in depth video of the techniques and showing the progression. I cannot believe the growth rate he's achieving. There's only one thing missing and that,s his feeding regime and products.
Excellent information, looking forward to the other videos . Would this technique work on scotties (cutting, not seedling cutting)? About to find out 😊
Vinay's work is truly inspiring. One thing that he mentions that I can attest to is the use of a Perlite and peat mixture for propagation. I also use fine grade Akadama with a small amount of chopped fresh sphagnum moss but obtain much better results with Perlite. Thank you for putting this out there Harry.
great info. I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with the seedling cutting technique for the past couple years. I'm seeing good growth with a coco coir/ perlite mix. i also started making my cut about 10mm from the needles.
Seedling cutting method greatly affects growth in year 1 ... Experienced growers like Bonsaify (Eric) is not using it so much any more. Adjust your light exposure just as the seeds pop ... then you will have low branching without the cutting method.
Thanks for the info. Could you please tell me the mix ratio of perlite to peat? Also the cuttings from this year were clippings from the spring cutback?
Very insightful video showing us Vinay’s method , a ground breaking method thanks to his research on techniques, thanks Vinay & Harry.
Thanks Vinay
Learnt a huge amount of information about Japanese pines in this video. Thank you so much for sharing. 💚

Thanks Harry and Vinay, the use of candles as cuttings is novel and I'll give it a try.
