Bernd Rod ragged on me for calling my book, Glory Days. I get that every day is a glory day for anyone walking on water with a boom in hands, or wing, kite, whatever, but this was the Heyday, hands down (actually first title of book before Clay Feeter dubbed it so.... don't blame me if there is any certain sort of sexual connotation attached, or do).
What a fantastic movie!! What really strikes me with these old school movies are how insanely good the guys were at ripping with the gear they had! Like how many times more difficult must it be than with modern stuff?
57:49 Jenna ! I see her in 1988 at the "boat show" in Paris. She was on the "Tiga" stand at the time. I was with friends who were passionate about windsurfing like me. We chatted with her a little. Very kind and so beautiful. I left with an autograph on a card that she gave me, that I still have. Greetings from France Paul, and thanks for the share of this movie here.
Sick. was Jason riding his new ‘23 wing boards already in ‘94? You are so ahead of your time:-)😅 I know most of the gear from own experience, sh..t , time is flying Thanks for sharing!!
Never saw this one back then - got a shock seeing an old Amiga in use, and hearing plenty of Headless Chickens tunes too (pretty obscure outside NZ). I did wear out an Impact Zone tape back in the 80s/90s. I think Jonathan also worked on those Neil Pryde videos too (eg Instant Replay, Rigmarole etc).
Yup Robert Masters was the main name on Instant Replay, I had a feeling he had help as they were pretty big productions. I have vague and/or faulty memories of Jonathan online ages ago (rec.windsurfing?) when he had a company site to download clips from old 80s and 90s videos. The NP and Gaastra ones were up there, I think that's where I got that idea.
you're right sty ro man. I did work on a few Neil Pryde and Gaastra videos, shooting film in the water and a few mounts as well. The forward with Matt Pritchard was the first mount ed loop captured, used in a Planet Reebok commercial. @windsurfer@@styrotech But the Headless Chickens? I thought they were named Tribe or something like that. Donde esta la pollo, Goya screamed out on the rock in Iao River. That was a line from their song and Francisco said it had a naughty meaning. Peter Boyd *RIP had a wife who was the band's manager.
I see the song tags. I guess they renamed themselves. The old Amiga, that was the first crack at titling and such... hi tech. Probably makes for a good fish bowl for a couple of old souls swimming.

Paul, thanks for sharing this jewel of windsurfing film history. Those were the golden years.
Thanks mate!

Definitely!
I find the new stuff difficult. Go figure. A lot easier though to windsurf without a bowling ball on the head for a camera.

"Hey, at least I've got no grey poop in my shoes, man!" -Cisco character
Grey Poop On lol... poor Francisco, he was still getting the hang of English. Fortunately, he did his best acting on the water.
Thank you Jonathan for sharing

Yeah I’m not sure on the Neil Pryde ones. Robert Masters was the name on the covers.

@@JonathanWeston interesting!
to me the sails look way older than 1994...
Some of them look like they were from 1990/91.
It was filmed over 3 years and delayed release. Something about recovering from a heli crash goes here.
to me boards and sails look 1991. Boards are right before no nose shapes came out
