thanks for posting, I do enjoy these old clips of the Supremes. this a beautiful story of three young girls of color, that came out of projects in Detroit and spread there talentful success making world history. no one was better than the other, they were lovely beautiful black girls, each one with a great talent, different voice each, and blend together perfectly, and made world history with their Cindirella dream. they became the biggest girl group in the world. they beautifully proved the world that being three young black girls could be as great, elegance and there beauty than any other white act. black people should admire the Supremes, and give them all the respect and honor which they are entitled to. live Diana and the Supremes
@@ronaldlawrence2229 Discontent within the group had been brewing for a while, and Berry Gordy was biding his time until Cindy Birdsong was officially clear of her Bluebelles contract before he could finally wash his hands of what, to him, was a major issue in the ongoing success of the Supremes and Diana Ross's eventual solo career: Flo Ballard and her antagonistic behaviour. Cindy succeeded in holding her own at the Hollywood Bowl concert earlier in 1967, so Berry knew she'd slot in well, and after Flo 'let the side down' with her (apparently) unprofessional and unladylike on-stage choreography, the perfect opportunity presented itself to just cut her loose to save any further embarrassment. It just (ahem) happened to be during the promotion of their 10th Number One hit.
Watching Diana sing Somewhere I saw what would in the future be considered one of the greatest entertainers of all time...so dramatic. I never realized how beautiful Flo was.
This was a group i ran to the record shop for. The hits were coming out so fast that I couldn't keep up buying them. I was just a kid. But I would save my lunch money to get them. That was an AWESOME time for black music !
From what I have seen I would say: "Where Did Our Love Go" - TAMI Show, "Baby Love" - Shindig!, "Come See About Me" - same episode of Shindig!, "Stop! In the Name of Love" - Shindig!, "Back in My Arms Again" - Hullabaloo, "I Hear a Symphony" - Hullabaloo, "You Can't Hurry Love" - Ed Sullivan, "You Keep Me Hangin' On" - Hollywood Palace despite Diana's lip sync flubs!, "Love is Here and Now You're Gone" - Andy Williams (no other choice!), "The Happening" - Ed Sullivan though I really like the Tonight Show one, too - "Love Child" - second Sullivan performance, "Someday" - Ed Sullivan. This doesn't include any of the numerous wonderful medleys they did of their hits which could be a countdown in itself!
I wish that the Supremes would have sung "You Can't Hurry Love," "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and "Love is Here and Now You're Gone" on more TV shows. The Andy Williams performance is the only one I know of for "Love Is Hear and Now You're Gone." That same episode is the only other show I know of where the three performed "Hangin' On" besides the Hollywood Palace and the Ed Sullivan hits medley, none of which were full versions which is odd for a song that topped the pop chart for two weeks and the R&B chart for four.
The Supremes’ performance of Where Did Our Love Go @ The TAMI Show was wayyy better than the RSG. And the performance of Stop, In The NAMe of Love @ Where The Action Is was sooo good!!
People don't remember AM music radio was all we had to listen to and Supremes music was exciting after listening to all the boring music they played all day. I remember when they played the Supremes every morning while I was getting ready to go to school.
If I had to choose the best of the best, I would go with the performance of "You Can't Hurry Love" on Ed Sullivan in 1966. Rounding out my Top 3 would be "Back in My Arms Again" on Hullabaloo and "I Hear a Symphony" on Hullabaloo, both in 1965. Their appearances on Hullabaloo - and Shindig! - were really great. 1964-1966 had some of the greatest music ever, and I'm glad those shows were on TV to highlight and capture it for decades afterwards!
The Supremes Archive When did they perform “Where Did Our Love Go” on Shindig? They performed Baby Love, Come See About Me, Stop in the Name of Love and The Beatles covers.
And The #1 of #1's is .... drum roll please.... SOMEDAY, WE'LL BE TOGETHER! ...period. ...naw, naw, naw. I don't wanna hear it! No discussion! No debating! that is the #1 of the #1's. 😁😁😁

You had excellent choices. Although I do prefer the TCB performance of I hear a symphony. Even though flo wasn’t there I like the way they ended it the best.
Diana Ross has the BEST TIMING !!Her vocals are clear, concise, and filled out her sweet, soul and tears. The Supremes BEST Lead vocalist HANDS DOWN!! They had great singers with Cindy Birdsong and Florance Ballard, but we know who the best was. Jean Terrell did mimic Diana a lot, but could not replace her style.
There Was No Mimic Of Diana Ross From Jean Terrell.. Jean Was A Great Singer.. So Was Mary And Florence.. These Girls Had Good Timing.... Name A Girl Group Who Can Deliver Like These Girls
@@juniebe4 Jean Terrell was a very good singer. Florence Ballad probably had the best voice of any member in the history of the group but she was mediocre singer ( based on her solo tracks she sounds like a lounge singer at a Cleveland airport hotel - just did not have any style despite having a great sound). Mary Wilson had a pleasant but ordinary voice and like Florence, she just wasn't a song stylist.
Yes, Bobbie Gentry's "Ode to Billie Joe" topped the charts for four weeks in the late summer of 1967. "Reflections" peaked at #2 for one of those weeks then went down to #3 and so on... The song that finally knocked Bobbie and Billie Joe out of the top spot was "The Letter" by the Box Tops. Lots of good songs on the radio at that time. I just wish "Reflections" could have at least squeezed in one week at #1 because it's one of my favorites!
Ole to billy joe kept it from being #1. I once wanted to sing it at the piano bar ,Club (Monster) in New York but my friend( Bill) was hesitate to play ot necause he is a die hard Diana fan. He told me this

Flo's timbre doesn't ever get old to me.
NEVER!
Me tooooooo RIP Florence (Blondie) and Mary SIP 💕🕊️
"The Happening" on The Ed Sullivan Show has always been my favourite, followed closely by "You Can't Hurry Love"
Is it a "coincidence" that Flo was ceremoniously "replaced" during the release and promotion of "The Happening?"

The stars collided when the Supremes came together. It will never happen again.

The clip of Baby Love is from Top Of The Pops here in London when it went to Number 1.
All Great Clips
The Supremes, in their lacquered fantasy, became top-pop style setters of the 60s, & the best-selling disc divas in international musical history !

The Supremes would have no soul if not for Flo. They would just be another girl pop group.
Baby Love was live, that was the studio version

My favorite WDOLG is the one with the chandeliers and the beehive do's. They do that amazing turn in the middle!
pnyc1969 That was “The Steve Allen Show.”
No, that was on Shindig

You're right, sorry. I thought he was talking about their "Baby Love" performance for a moment LOL
I wonder what Mary's, Diana's and Cindy's lists would look like.
Diana Ross ++++++ 😀
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘
Love Is Here and now your gone Diana was sing with the recording, "Someday we'll be together" not live
the supremes without florence ballard is boring..
I agree.
The Supremes wit Flo was boring, Diana rules..
Best girl group ever I was a boy when they popular.
Agree with most except I personally prefer TCB version of Stop! & the Hollywood Palace version of Someday...
No iwhen Stop came the number 1 when Flo Ballard was Future in it the Original When TCB was the one with Cindy B on lip Singing

Had no idea Reflections wasn’t a number 1 hit
Technically it was, it peaked at #1 on Cashbox. I only included the Billboard hits
Dj Tyree “Ode to Billie Joe” kept it from hitting #1 on the Pop charts.
