Tim obviously sounds amazing all the time, but I think there's something special about his solo performances. When he's with an orchestra or a band, he's unbelievable, but he doesn't get as much freedom as he does when he's by himself. There's just a special atmosphere he creates when he's on stage by himself. Purely incredible.
He starts these beautiful contemplative songs so gently, brings them to such a fierce climax, and then drops them down again to the most delicate level of inner thought -- quite a few of them he structures this way, a beautiful arc, it's part of what makes "White Wine In The Sun" such a heartbreaker. And then he performs them with all personal intensity . . . I wish people would give him a few more seconds to come down before breaking out clapping and whooping. I would like that too, of course, but it really seems sometimes that he isn't ready to let go of it quite yet.
+manthasagittarius1 In their defence, I feel like I am ready to burst into an emotional fit whenever he sings emotional songs, like White wine in the sun, and this one.
In such a short period of time, he has been able to do everything he's wanted and now he's nailing a major point to it all-a well resected songwriter and performer and known for his theater. For someone I dont know personally, Im still so proud of him I could burst. Watching this just makes me so happy for him it's ridiculous.
I adore the performance in the play, but there's something special about this. Tim hit some of the deeper themes about abuse and resistance that are skimmed in the short book. I love how his versions show this kind of rough, punk heart to the characters.
I move into my new flat in 2017 shortly after mum died from smell cell lung cancer and this song totally speaks out to me. Thanks Tim for shareing your God given talents. I always go back to this when I feel lonely in my flat. 👏🙋♂️🙏
What a pleasure to listen to this musical genius. I got the pleasure to audition for this show at one point and it was the best thing i've eve done, period.
Yes, the no shoes thing is only with comedy. This reminded me of Not Perfect and White Wine in the Sun, all sweet songs that are serious. I like the way he can do both so well
Very moving! It doesn't bring up as strong emotions in me as his Pope Song does, but still quite enjoyable. Tim is definitely on the top of my Hall Pass list now.
So beautiful, thanks for uploading this. I think it's great Tim gets to do everything he wants because he is brilliant at all of it, whether it's comedy or acting or writing. So many ways for him to articulate his genius. Poor man must be stressed out though :(
Has anybody tried transcribing this version? I know you can get the sheets online but they're piano combined with vocal, and not the same as when Tim plays it. Would love to be able to play it his way, he's amazing
Tim doesn't read music , you're not going to play like Tim because he never ever performs a song the same way twice. He tweaks each performance so that its unique
I feel like Tim's really matured since he wrote Matilda and performed Jesus Christ Superstar! I just hope that his songs still stay light hearted and that he doesn't go all emo with it... Although Tim in all black with black make-up and hair, with the one strand of hair covering his eye, would be pretty funny.
Does anyone else think that he sounds a bit like James Blunt?? Other than that, he sounds like an Australian singer!! And I love that. I’m Australian, and am so glad that he made it this far.
“Science adjusts its views based on what's observed Faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved."― Tim Minchin Tim does not know what biblical faith is because he just does not care to know but he'd rather fart out lies. Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us. Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. His opening of "Science adjusts its views based on what's observed" Tim is a liar. He believes his god of nothing did miracles naturally with nothing as proof it could. He cares NOTHING about what is observed. What a hypocrite! His god claims to have given us the creation of the universe, fine-tuning of the universe for life on earth, life from non-life, information for life before and after it began, the laws of nature without a Lawgiver, etc, etc, when we know that your god of nothing can do nothing. His god of nothing has nothing to offer and its followers only offer nothing of evidence for their god of nothing. That makes him nothing of importance but the followers of the god of nothing are so delusional that they think they do have something to offer to defend their god of nothing.
This was made for Matilda the musical and it has nothing to do with religion. This shows you do not know context around the song. Like most people don't know the path that the good Samaritan took can end up with you dead from heat stroke if you don't make it across quick enough. Thus, the good Samaritan risked his Life to save another. Another thing most people don't know about is when the Innkeeper says that there's no room in the inn. It may have been full by it's more likely that they said no because under Jewish (something) that you have to cleanse (pretty sure it has to be done by a rabbi) a room if it is used for childbirth, before it can be used again. Since he was an Innkeeper, he can't really have a room out of service and it was near common practice to use stables anyway. Please try to understand context so you don't sound like a fool and stay safe.
Will never get sick of hearing TIm sing Matilda songs. You can just feel all the heart he put into them

just his voice and the piano, thats all i need.
orchestras are amazing as well but i just prefer solo.
Exactly!
Tim Minchin just tore out my heart, and carefully sewed it back into place, after a few repairs.
God I hope tim writes more shows
He is writing the music for Groundhog Day the musical
MrBill0327 And he did just as good a job as he did with Matilda.

When he sings fear like that it kills me, it is so perfect!
Absolute dream. What a pleasure to hear him singing one of his most precious songs! Fallen in love with the song all over again!
I swear that we watch all the same videos
Gosh this incredible, even in the 121st viewing.
I adore the performance in the play, but there's something special about this. Tim hit some of the deeper themes about abuse and resistance that are skimmed in the short book. I love how his versions show this kind of rough, punk heart to the characters.
Love his songwriting skills! Wonderful lyrics.

Love this song- even better than the play version. He puts so much feeling into his words.
The most perfect voice I've ever heard.
I watch it over and over and over and 2:53 brings me to tears every single time. Tim, your voice pierces my soul.
Today this song stayed in my mind the whole day. I love it so much!
I love Tim's comedy but these soul (as in from his soul not the genre lol) songs he writes are simply perfection
He's such a beautiful performer. I just love hearing his voice. Thank you so much.

I can't hit the like button enough times to do justice.
so very pleased you put this here as it was not on the ITV highlights programme. Thanks
Thank you Tim for bringing this song to the world. And by the way, Happy Birthday!
Its like a Lullaby
Just beautiful. Him and the song, his eyes, his smile his hair
Utterly breathtaking. Thank you for uploading this.
Thank you for this amazing performance. I like to listen to it at bedtime. Helps make for a pleasant sleep.
Gets me every time!
Beautiful song it's made me cry
Great song man
Beautiful as always x
Happy Birthday Tim... This is just truly beautiful
Very moving! It doesn't bring up as strong emotions in me as his Pope Song does, but still quite enjoyable. Tim is definitely on the top of my Hall Pass list now.
Beautiful. I believe him.
Bravo, Tim!!!
Nice one. I can't help thinking it's a cunning rework of Not Perfect - and why not?!
chrisofnottingham "It isn't much, but it is enough for me"
"It's not perfect, but it's mine"
+chrisofnottingham So glad I'm not the only one who picked it up. Even the tune sounds a little similar.
To be honest he could have gotten away with just putting Not Perfect in it. Its good he went the extra mile though.
It's a beautiful song 😊
Tim performed one of his new songs at my school in perth cause he's an old boy :)
He looks like he is crying, awwww Tim
+Gemma Leighton If he's not, I am.
+joe z Same, I always cry at this song
Me too . So much emotion coming out of him
Just brilliant.
Yay I am happy now.
Amazing 💖
Holy shit. I don't know how old this is. But, Yeah. Yes, this is how I would communicate if I were given the gift he has.
YES I WISH I STILL HAD MY HOME OF 23 YEARS I MISS IT IT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN MUCH BUT IT WAS ENOUGH FOR ME JAY
So beautiful, thanks for uploading this. I think it's great Tim gets to do everything he wants because he is brilliant at all of it, whether it's comedy or acting or writing. So many ways for him to articulate his genius. Poor man must be stressed out though :(

Exactly what I've thought. Though, two amazing songs though. Sounds lovely. :) Gotta love that man
makes me homesick for Wales U,K, where I grew up and re-visited last year after 42 years away from HOME
Has anybody tried transcribing this version? I know you can get the sheets online but they're piano combined with vocal, and not the same as when Tim plays it. Would love to be able to play it his way, he's amazing

Dying inside because of this.

I have a man crush on this guy
Does anyone else think that he sounds a bit like James Blunt??
Other than that, he sounds like an Australian singer!! And I love that. I’m Australian, and am so glad that he made it this far.

I MISS MY HOME
Like a Limbo
He's not wearing eyeliner.
Chords anyone?
In his song F Sharp he says he like playing in F because it warms the essence of his heart, so maybe go from there.
Beard
is he crying? 'cus i am...
Why would he, he has loved JCS and wrote music or youth theater since he was in his 20's?
Ha ha, you're right clearly FAME HAS CHANGED HIM.
he takes his shoes off for performing comedy.
This song sounds like Lullaby with the lyrics of Not Perfect
and no eye makeup (don't know what it's called)!
wish I stiill had my house JAY
He could have just put 'Not Perfect' into the musical here. Not complaining that we get a new song though :)
Not just shoes ... they're ... they're ... DRESS SHOES!! I had to watch it twice because the shoes distracted me the first time!
And eyeliner! He's not wearing eyeliner!

Комик как никто видит "правду" жизни.
I think we are missing what's important here - he's wearing shoes.
He is wearing shoes

Wearing shoes and no eye liner? What the hell Tim!?
I don't think you know anything about Tim.
Oh no, Tim, I think your teeth have got vitiligo! Well done though : )

Sir, this is not the church. Get out.
