Our obsession with the antics of royal bedrooms, births, and the succession of the British throne is nothing new. The royal bedchamber was once a very public sphere. In times gone by, courtiers and dignitaries would attend royal marriage ceremonies, and observe royal births in order to verify the baby's gender. Even the process of creating royal babies often took place in a semi-public context to prove an heirs legitimacy.
Historian Dr. Lucy Worsley, Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, gets into bed with past British monarchs to uncover Tales From The Royal Bedchamber. She examines the creation of private chambers in response to the overwhelmingly public nature of royal bedrooms, and explores the backstairs politics which developed as a result. She looks at the increasingly lavish design of Royal State beds and the huge expense which went into these beds in royal palaces and private great houses alike, many of which were never even slept in. In fact, the rise and fall of their magnificent beds reflects the changing fortunes of the monarchy itself.

Lucy has to be one of Britain's best historian who, with her presentation style, brings history to life.
lucy is my favourite historian.... it's her enthusiasm, it rubs off on you.
She and Mary Beard are two of my favourites.
I love all of Lucy Worsley's documentaries. But the music in this one is SO ANNOYINGLY LOUD!!!
Stop whinging
Yes it is loud.
Soooo loud!!!
Yes it is to loud
@maysaniyazova Absolutely agree
Music is a little loud when you are talking.
Lower the music, or are we not supposed to hear Lucy' s commentary
What a shame that the music is drowning out what Lucy is saying! I couldn't listen to all of it as the music was too irritating.
Audio mix is terrible - when music is playing you van hardly hear her.
Precisely! 😖
It's deafening! I had to keep turning tge volume down.
Background music far to loud.
Can't clearly hear bcz the music is too loud some times, but the documentary is amazing, more amazing because of Lucy
I think it’s supposed to be like that.. to set the ambiance as it’s a period theme screenplay documentary
....and no sub-titles.
Pity, I'm going mutton and can't hear the narration.
Lucy Worsley is an icon
If David Attenborough is the king of environmental and nature shows Lucy is the queen of historical ones
LUCY JUST MAKES IT ALL SO INTERESTING - A PEASURE TO WATCH 💯💜
Just Love Lucy's Documentaries..She's pleasure to watch and listen to..brings fun into History.
Why is it more important to listen to the music than listen to what Lucy Worsley is imparting?
Who edited this documentary? The music is way too loud when Lucy is talking.
So sa, the music is toooo loud 😖
The music is very loud
I actually think the loud music issue is due to this channel, I've noticed overly loud music on a few documentaries on this channel and I found another channel that uploaded this same documentary, the music is different to the one on this and it is definitely in the background rather than drowning out Lucy's voice. Not sure why the person uploading would add loud music over the top?
Yet again an extremely interesting video rendered painful to hear because of the “background” dominates. Have given up trying to listen
Strangely I didn't notice the music; it was so engrossing.
There are moments when music completely overpowers Lucy''s voice. You can't hear her clearly when that happens. Can I suggest uploading an edited version with the music drowned down to a manageable level.
Ouch...lower the volume of the background music!
"Bring me a nice cup of bricklayer's tea and a couple of McVities digestives biscuits, if you please".
Lucy Worsley is adorable. We have the same speech impediment so I’m very partial.
We don’t need to hear that🙄🥱
For the hard of thinking, the audio is probably messed with for copyright avoidance.
Music to loud can't hear the commentary!
Music too loud, compared the the voices.
The music is still too loud 24.05.24
Way too much music, and it's far too loud. 🙉
Sorry Lucy, I adore your films, but in this the music is too loud!
For Me This Is A Great documentary they're certainly new evidence for me that has been brought to light I also hope that the truth Will Come Out
Hi there, for reason not sure why the background music is louder than then present's when talking which makes it harder to understand what is being communicated - I am not entirely sure Banijay has the licensor's right - in this case BBC to "broadcast" this document on this platform but if it does perhaps is worth asking a better quality audio copy of this docu
Thanks very m much in advance.
¿Alguna posibilidad de subtitular al español? Me encantan sus documentales pero me gustaría apreciarlos como se debe y mi inglés no es tan bueno!
Creo q lo tiene q habilitar el propietario del canal
It's my pleasure to watch this wonderful documentary. Unfortunately, It can not setting to show subtitle while watching. Could you please suggest me for this? Thank you very much.
You might try to click on the cc-button in the top right corner. I then could see the subtitles.
Music is to koud
The human voice is most beautiful music
Can not hear her .
Albert and Victoria kissing cousins!
Who’d have thought it, getting cheered on while you’re at it.
Can’t stand this loud music. Whoever edited this needs sacking
ANNE BULLEN?? LOOK AT 13.29 THERE IS A PAINTING OF ANNE BOLYEN AND IT ACTUALLY SAYS BULLEN ON THE BRASS PLAQUE

Female narration just doesn’t work for serious subject matter. 👎🏻
🤣🙄
Couldn’t agree more
How silly!
