- As a fan of Vincenzo Natali's controversial sci-fi drama, Splice, this music vid is dedicated to its main character, Dren. Dren, although an extremely complex and complicated creature, there seems to be a rare innocence about her, which is only shattered by the ill-upbringing of her estranged "parental" guardians. I imagine this song, by Antony and the Johnsons called Another World, does justice to Dren's silenced feelings.

When she holds the Barbie when going to sleep I was about to cry, I felt like there was a meaning. Not just a sci-fi movie. I feel like the meaning was, we are different on the inside than the outside.

She reacted out of anger and resentment toward Elsa for taking the cat away from her in the first place. Although Elsa loved her, she was rather cruel to her and restrained her from enjoying the simplest thing every child desires: playing outside. Dren shares a trait and genes with Elsa (obviously) and the two of them have terrible outbursts of anger and rage (Dren kills a cat, Elsa physically lashes at her, strips her naked and amputates her). Dren is subject to terrible abuse in this story.

Female Dren really did die. It wasn't from sex changing, it was a result of from being treated cruelly by her mother and been denied of even the simplest things in life that also included the severance of her tail and yes like any animal who has been mistreated for so long, the stress and the fear led to shock that led to her first death. And being that she was a humanoid, she possibly could've attempted suicide by drowning. Either way it was possible or maybe a little bit of both. Splice is one of those movies you have to watch and understand with a 3D mindset. People fail to see it like this because they use the 1 or 2 dimensional thinking patterns and not grasp the situation on what's going on with Dren. Teen suicide and or sudden death in animals from fear and shock anyone. I should also know this because I once had a friend who was severely deformed physically and mentally and all throughout school, he was bullied by parents, teachers and all the kids so bad that the stress from shock warped his health and he was smart enough to know why he was miserably ill and he knew it and eventually he killed himself. R.I.P. Colin Metz 1984-2002. That's who Dren reminds me of.
