"You have to let me go" means here, you have to acknowledge the truth. Andrew loved his wife so strongly that he couldn't absorb her guilt, the fact that she killed their children. "You have to let me go"- you have to stop loving me, you have to stop blaming yourself for this. Only then his mind can stand the burden and in effect finish his made up world. One's mind cannot carry that huge of a guilt by themself. Subconsciousness is calling Andrew to come to his senses.
❤
”Subconciousness is calling Andrew to come to his senses”. Thats a great line
And do you notice it?, he says "I can´t", he knows deep down that he can never forgive himself or, at least, surpase his pain of all the lost and traumas that he lived, the war, the violence and finally the end of everything that he loved, he can´t he never will, he knows, he always know, that his pain is unbearable and in the end it has no point to overcome anything if when he would do that, the desert of life would awaits him
A standalone masterpiece thriller when everything was going into trilogies again and ridiculous comic book franchises.
This movie stood right out.
One of the most underrated movies I've ever seen.
How is this underrated lmfao it’s one of Scorseses most famous films
@@samuelw01 Not really. Scorsese is known as the mob movie guy. Ya know, Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed, The Irishman, etc. Compared to the rest of his movies, Shutter Island is pretty low on the list and almost never gets recognized as a great piece of cinema.
@@dudeman3973According to Letterboxd statistics, it's his second most watched film, and his top 3 highest rated films aren't mob films (Wolf of Wall Street, Taxi Driver, Shutter Island). Hell, it's got 1.2 million logs on IMDB as well
If you want to talk about the most underrated Scorsese film (and imo his best), it's got to be Bringing Out the Dead which stars Nic Cage.
Yes for sure.
Everyone's talking about Leo, yeah he was pretty good, but Michelle Williams deserved more recognition too for this movie. Her performance was really heartbreaking tbh
anyone knows the sound on 00:00?
@@yungmutt on the nature of daylight.
Shutter Island is really one of Martin Scorsese's underrated movie
"She's still here, she never left" probably relates to the innocent imagination of Andrew's wife, which he carries. "She's here, you can't leave" - you have to face this imagination to see the truth. In this scene Andrew's wife represents both his innocent memories of her and his subconsciousness, which tries to unite the whole image of Dolores. And it succeeds as we see his beautiful wife with horrible wound on ber back and her wet hair. All this scene is made from start to finish by his subconsciousness so as the reality could reach his conscious state of mind. Masterpiece
i guess it just points to Raechel Solondo and not something else 🤷
Watched it for the first time last night, absolutely powerful as f**k.
“I’m not real… I’m just bones in a box”
Chilling.
A modern masterpiece
The editing. 🤯
This scene hits me hard for so many reasons. The emotion and pain in his voice when he says "I can't" makes me think alot about my personal experience with letting go of those I love and being extremely attached to my memories with them. Granted I know this is in a different context but still oddly relatable.
Max Ritcher nature of daylight ❣️❣️❣️❤❤❤😌
I've never seen this movie and had no idea it was used. The first time I heard it was in The Arrival.
@@cryogeneric it's used disconnect & stranger than fiction films too
First time I heard it was in Togo
This is what makes Martin Scorsese one of my all time favorites
I first watched this in 2015 and to this 25yrs old this is his GOAT movie
This scene is a masterpiece of it's own. Everything just fits together like a beautiful puzzle.
Literally one of the most beautiful film scenes I’ve seen in my life
Am still watching this movie all the time since 2023
this belong to the museum
2008 was the last of the greatest films
That came out in 2009.
We are both wrong 2010 it came out!
I'm not gonna leave.
I love you so much.
The music is called "On the Nature of Twilight." I first heard it in The Last of Us, and was blown away when I rewatched Shutter Island and recognized it.
One of my Fav❤ movies !!!!! 😌
That's why I'm single 😂😂😂😂
Taxi Driver ans Shutter Island are epic. Scorsese's Magnum opus.
This part reminds me of movie 1922
Everytime I check out a old movie scene,da comments always say "underated masterpeice"😂😂😂, but the lead actor always someone rich and famous
😂😂😂😂
That doesn’t mean what you think it means. The film wasn’t recognized by big award ceremonies as the masterpiece it is. What’s more tragic that audiences gave this film a C score. I get it, it’s not an easy film to understand which is why ppl have to watch it several times and pay close attention to the details to appreciate it. This film showed Leo’s acting skills in a way that were deserving of an Oscar or even a golden globe nomination and the fact that it never happened is sad
Dolores (Michelle Williams) Killed by Black Widow Natasha Romanoff (Madison Beer)
madre mía, qué actor el dicaprio. brutal.
If it werent for the scene in the cave. I legitimately woulda thought Leo was crazy in this movie
but he was crazy…
He wasn’t crazy… he was insane, but it was due to his trauma. He wanted to block the reality of what he had done and had to make up people and situations to justify his delusion. At first you really do think the scene in the cave is an “Aha! Gotcha” moment where you can justify feeling the island really wants to mess with teddys head, but you have to understand that teddy has an unreliable perspective/narrative and once you put all the pieces of his dreams and story together, you realize you were being played to believe he was ever sane.
Am just bones in a box teddy
