Pereira hunting down izzy from kickboxing to MMA to make sure he stays losing by knocking him out in the last round has to be one of the best stories in combat sports history
You are dumb. But go to bed with that story.
Bro please be original I've read this comment like 8 times corny as fuck
Dude I agree.. there's something poetic about it lol

From Piyera to Pierre . Chael truly is a goat in pronouncing fighter names.
😂😂
Now that Pereira is a champion let's see if "Piera" will finally become Pereira in Chael's mouth
After 3 minutes I realize Pyerra was Pereira.
@@seitsen Lol
Hahaha i noticed that too
This fight was something else. I've never seen Israel look so small. Pereira looked like a video game final boss that you are supposed to lose to. Even though I'm emotionally invested in Israel's career I feel like these too are something special and a real treat for us. I hope to see the rematch in half a year. It is too exciting for me to see it sooner.
I think Alex is too big for 185 he should be fighting at 205 he looked overly huge and I believe the commentators stated his last fight against Strickland Alex was 215 on fight night. that's insane. You could see how he was pushing Izzy around in the clinch and when Izzy tried those trips
Well said🙌 Both are warriors, but Alex is a specimen👀
Izzy made a career out of beating smaller guys. As soon as someone is the same size or bigger and similar talent, he loses
he looked like Sagat from SF. Adesanya is probably too small.
@@user-cx9gq2ud6t that's not entirely true he has fought guys that were in the realm of being same size or bigger. I mean Kevin G was big different attributes like less height but more weight. Paulo Costa. Romero. Alex was like yan vs izzy though and everyone wants to make that Izzy's excuse but remember izzy said in the leadup to his fight vs yan... he said he wasn't putting on weight and would come into the fight like a middleweight because that's where he feels comfortable and wouldn't sacrifice the hours of training he has at that weight just to put on some more weight to not be bullied on the ground. He lost the fight for not leaving his comfort zone. He was expected to lose that fight because of that choice. But izzy thought it was the right choice. I think in this fight that whole message of not leaving his comfort zone is a very real component of Izzy's career. He got comfortable with decision wins. He got comfortable blaming decision wins on opponents not forcing him to stop them. He got comfortable as the champ. He came into the fight looking like he was in his peak doing extremely well but what happened? Blame it on the weight advantage but izzy chose this and he claimed it was not a disadvantage for him to be weighing how he usually weighs against a bigger opponent. Blame it on izzy not going for the win? Ya I think that's it. He got comfortable going to decisions and he got caught a couple mins before getting another decision win. He got comfortable going to decisions so much that he might've even lost the touch of getting a finish. If there's risk involved he might not pursue a finish. If there's the thought that he wins the decision he gets passive. When a guy came along that was telling him that he would not get to a decision and izzy was gonna have to finish him if he wanted the win guess what happened.
Pereira’s control of the ring was so impressive. Had Israel backing up or against the cage the entire time
Thats hownizzy fights lmfao 🤣
@@berimbolo010 he put that pressure on him
I think it was intentional. Watch Dan Hardy’s WarRoom. In his breakdown he shows how Pereira likes to move people into strikes. He throws a kick they move left into his left hand. Izzy might have been trying to avoid that by backing up and then using Pereira’s inexperience in the cage against him. Idk it’s a guess, it also could have been that you have this massive zombie walking towards you.
Thats becuase Izzy couldnt circle out the way as easy as he can vs much shorter guys that dont have Alex hook as a threat, and ofc if Alex runs into him he is not gonna stay still and accept to have crazy exchanges in close range so he has to back up
@@wesleyharmon8231 well Izzys style and plan is to strike and set up from a distance and also counterpunch, what he usually does is use his height advantage and circle out of the way, but with Alex having the same reach and hooks as a threat he couldnt just do that so easy, but then with Alex moving forward he is not gonna stay still and accept to trade punches in a shorter range either as he respects Alex power and chances in these exchanges so thats why he was more against the cage as usual. In the rematch if he doesnt want that he has to either circle out of the way before he backed up too much which aint easy and eventually you end up there too (the octagon is not that many steps big) or/and try to put some pressure himself but then if Alex doesnt back down and goes for wilder short range exchanges I dont think thats good for Izzy so I think he did good, it would be a better strategy to wrestle more in critical moments (and better) and that with how he did scoring more points I think he wins the rematch even though he can always get caught when Pereira goes for a all or nothing KO
And Pereira only came to MMA after Izzy said he was a nobody and would not be remembered. Thats poetic.
We will remember this for years to come.
he still is and will be though. The guy that beat a great, like Matt serra.
wrong, alex was in mma before izzy and went back to kickboxing
@@thecasual4880 Lol what? Serra landed a lucky punch and got smoked in the rematch. Poatan beat Izzy all 3 fights, twice by KO. You have no idea what you're talking about.
That’s not true. Keep making up reason to hate man.
Imagine losing 3x to the same guy and having all of them be close. First fight was a bad decision, second fight Israel was winning up until he got caught and third fight was more of the same. Must be heartbreaking for Adesanya but that's how Pereira is. You can make exactly 0 mistakes against Po Atan. Dude has otherworldly power
Yep
The difference I think is that Izzy could do 170 and Perrera should be 205. The size is a huge factor equating to power also
@@elmirbrdar1045 nah izzy ain't making 170

Does ufc 3 count?
I said Alex looked like the boss from a fighting game, like Tekken, but I didn’t know he was going to fight like one too. You spend the whole fight chipping away at his life being as perfect as you can and then he hits you once and you lose your whole life bar.
lmfao eldin ring comes to mind

Yep, me in Elden Ring every 10 minutes
@Win From Within ok that’s a reach.. the man did outstrike Izzy and destroyed his legs look at the stats
This reminds me of what Pereira commented in the Countdown episode I believe.
"Adesanya fights to not lose. I fight to win."
I think Izzy’s problem with Pereira is that his (Izzy’s) kickboxing is, even if slightly better, nullified; his height advantage nullified; both have equally bad grappling; with the difference between the two being the power in their hands. The result doesn’t mean that Pereira will beat everyone Izzy has beat, but it does mean Pereira is Izzy’s boogeyman!
Yea idk if pereira beats Whitaker or costa. But he beats izzy 7/10 times
He’s superior at kickboxing, just isn’t as fancy.
Exactly
@@SC-bc6tz Adesanya flows Pereira hammers that's all. Both very good KBsers

His knee isn’t spoken about enough. I think Izzy is the only one at middleweight he couldn’t land one on if they were tagged with a good jab.
As a izzy fan I'm glad it got stopped there was going to be a bad knockout if it wasn't stopped

Izzy's walkout was very telling, he was all business and you could see the pressure mounting because of the stakes. But to his credit, he didn't fight like he was gun shy. It's very rare to see Izzy get backed up that way because he's such a master of range but Pereira is just as tall and has a similar reach.
Yeah the 2 opponents that he didn’t have a reach advantage over he lost to, like Romero said this is what happens when Israel actually fights, good backfoot fighter, weak front foot offensive game. Mcgregors got better boxing than adesanya
Izzy said in the post fight press conference that Pereira damaged the nerves in his calf with the kick in the 4th (?) round when Izzy did that roll backwards. I think that's why he was backing up the 4th and 5th round.

But it's not surprising with a life and upbringing like his, he was never brought up to be humble, I don't think he really know what that is.

I was nervous for Izzy every time he backed up to the cage with his hands low. Pereira deserves a lot of credit for overcoming being rocked and exhausted at different points in the fight. Can’t wait to see part four.
Me too
I still don’t know why he kept backing up against the cage and letting pereira just throw at him half the fight….especially round 5 I feel like that should have been the last situation he’d put himself in
Part 2*
He needed to clinch more in round 5 it saved him when Alex was taking off most of round 4 to recover some energy then started throwing late, Izzy just completely stopped his momentum in the clinch and won the round
@@CMc_39 I think Izzy was trying to find holes but with a guy like pierera u need to be active. His counter striking was there but he wasn’t active enough.
It was honestly a good stoppage by Goddard because after looking at the slow mo highlight, Izzy was getting CRACKED with those punches. Izzy should buy Goddard lunch tomorrow for stopping the fight when he did because he was about 2 or 3 punches away from getting sent to the shadow realm for a second time by the same guy. He may be a kickboxer but Pereira's hands are not a joke. Once he connects, those hands are lethal. Especially that left hook.
When you watch the slow mo you realize almost all those punches were landing accurately. I see people saying all of them were missing and Izzy was dodging lol.
If it went on any longer I could see Alex kneeing him out cold the way Izzy's head was down.
Izzy was saved from becoming a meme tbh
Perfectly said. Should thank Goddard that he allows him to fight another day. People wanted 2-3 more of Alex’s shots when he’s already visibly shook. Dana and Izzy’s coaches said good stoppage, no problem with it.
Goddard saved Izzy to fight another day.
That was 100% a good stoppage, Izzy said himself after talking with coaches when speaking to Megan. Dana said he agreed with it. Massive respect to Alex fighting Izzy in his prime MMA career with multiple 5 round championship fights, Alex had 0. He just has his number man it is what it is, have to accept that sometimes. Respect to Izzy and his run as well.
He wasn't defending himself intelligently because he was opening himself to a knee, one of Alex's signature moves. Ref has to take that into account

I just went back to re-watch Round 2 of the fight and I cannot for the life of me see how someone scores that Round for Izzy. I thought Izzy walking out with no theatrics and taking pereira down showcased a certain lack of confidence. You can play around with your walkout and you can stay on your feet with guys you know you'll beat on your feet, but Izzy didn't do those things. I think pereira occupied some significant head space deep down in izzy's mind, and pereira came out with a confidence that none of izzy's recent opponents have had. For an opponent to beat izzy they have to press forward and take risks, unlike romero and cannonier, and that takes confidence.
Izzy’s body language at the face-off too just seemed so uncomfortable. Seems when Izzy looked at him deep down they both knew he had an advantage with the 2 earlier wins

Also he punches and kicks hard AF. But he is vulnerable as well so there was just so much going on. It was a great fight!
Alex "The Last StyleHunter" Pereira
I yelled at my TV when Izzy walked out all serious with no dance and said Chael has called this, he's going to lose
I was surprised that the ref jumped in, especially with the belt up. However, that would have been a fair stop for any other fight.
“4-0” Chael’s scoring never ceases to amaze me 💀
Izzy was nervous asf!! He’s been shook the whole week! Alex is Izzy’s kryptonite!!!
But he was winning the whole fight. He got caught but he looked great
Izzy wasn't scared he was ready and won the whole fight, until he got caught, no fear in izzy, fuck that
Izzy basically dominated the whole fight until the end where alex put him down, the rematch for the 4th time will be something, lmao
@@mannyTheGuy comprehension yall... he said izzy was nervous and shook. Which he was.
@@jaredtaylor326 he looked pretty scared to me when he turned into a wrestler in r3 and 4 lol. And then got finished after trying to snooze out another decision lol
Alex left him frozen like Elsa 🥶
Lmfao
Wtf is elsa?
Totally agree with everything you said Chael. Very well said.
Extremely well said Sir ! 👍🏼💪🏼🙏🏼🇺🇸
I think its funny people thought Pereira wouldnt b ready for this moment. He was double champ in kickboxing and came to ufc with 1 purpose. Pereira looked huge in there he stalked the entire fight. Alex Pereira is the izzy Terminator and it was 3-1. The stoppage was to early i want to see izzy catch a knee to his face.
This is the only acceptable way to say it was an early stoppage. I like the way you think dr ron lol
Alex took Izzy's soul made him a humble man now
We just witnessed history here , this rivalry will be remember for hundreds of years. Way after were all dead
wow that's a great fight review Sonnen, well done. I didn't even stop to think about the fact it was Pereira's first time on a 25m fight. I don't think he'll become a legend, but yes there were a lot of unexpected stuff in this fight.
Hes already a legend
And now I know what happened. Finally. Thank you Uncle
I've been knocking Izzy for his last few fights. I admit I was rooting against him here. But my God he was impressive last night. Peieira is fucking huge and every shot he throws sound like a gun just went off in the arena. And Izzy took it to him. He fought more aggressive last night than he has in a long time and I loved it. The Izzy that fought last night would put away Izzy from any of his last several fights.
Well put 👏🏽
His only reason for fighting aggressive is because alex had him backing up the whole 25 minutes 😭 izzys best weapon is how good he is on the backfoot when countering. Him clinching numerous times just proves he was feeling the power
@@Joeee0304 sure but counter punching is a legitimate style of fighting that can be either boring and lazy or active and exciting. The shots he was throwing against Alex were very impressive. It was his best and most exciting fight in awhile
@@robertfugate2232 you couldn't have stated it better!
@@robertfugate2232 then again you continuously keep giving him credit for a fight that he had no intention of pushing the pace. Did you watch the same fight as me? Izzy was backed up on the cage majority of the fight... You think izzy wants to push the pace when there is a guy right in front of him capable of knocking him out? Lmao I dont think you know who izzy is and who pereira is. Make no mistake, this fight was only exciting because of pereira, he was the one starting every engagement an pushing the pace.
The happiest i ever got watching a fight
Great Video! But I’ve seen a lot of fights being stopped on the feet that I can’t say it’s rare. It usually happens when a guy is not defending him self intelligently like blocking/slipping etc. And it usually happens for MMA when a guy is pressed up the fence so even tho he is rocked he have the cage to lean on to prevent him from falling. It was a great stoppage, could even be argued to have been stopped earlier. Adasanya had his hands below his hips and was not blocking any shot. And all shots were landing clean with power. A guy don’t need to be flatlined to call the fight. That’s where the TKO part comes in. No reason for fighters to get even more brain trauma. Issy was gone after that left hook. Great fight do and Izzy would have wan on the scorecards if it has come to that.
I think that kick that hurt izzy really was the IT factor. The leg kicking game was going to Alex and it really got to izzy cause by the end he couldn’t move and got caught up in the cage and tried clinching
In the first 4 rounds Izzy’s footwork was killer. Alex didn’t have an answer, but I was nervous for Izzy bc he spent a lot of time backing up to the fence, and I think that’s what cost him the fight. He got too comfortable moving straight back late in the fight. I’m not a fan of the stoppage, but, man, what a fight.
@Year Zero
Izzy was scared 😨. Of Alex power. Alex was dead on his feet from rd2 to rd4. He couldn't throw a punch but just like usman vs Edward's izzy wanted a decision instead of finishing him
There is a huge difference in saying someone is scared and respects. He respects his power and knows his power. He wasn’t scared🤷🏾♂️
@@ibeenthinkin same difference
@@ibeenthinkin anytime Izzy got caught he was trying to run away
@@JOHN-zl5kw I don't think a finish was really on the table tbh. Idk how you expect him to **finish** him 👀
great analysis
Gotta love Chael
Izzy has this ability to make it look like he was winning, Izzy caught Alex and rocked him once,
It looked like Izzy was winning the kicking exchange but it was actually Alex who was, Izzy even admitted it, and Alex actually hurt Izzy a few times with body shots, knees to the body, and shots to Izzy’s head when Izzy had Alex in a clinch and backed up again the cage, which caused Izzy to go for a take down, then of course the TKO,
I don’t know about you guys but watch it again and see
Pereira won, so it's time you give him the respect of learning to pronounce his name.
