    This fight was something else. I've never seen Israel look so small. Pereira looked like a video game final boss that you are supposed to lose to. Even though I'm emotionally invested in Israel's career I feel like these too are something special and a real treat for us. I hope to see the rematch in half a year. It is too exciting for me to see it sooner.

      I think Alex is too big for 185 he should be fighting at 205 he looked overly huge and I believe the commentators stated his last fight against Strickland Alex was 215 on fight night. that's insane. You could see how he was pushing Izzy around in the clinch and when Izzy tried those trips

      @@user-cx9gq2ud6t that's not entirely true he has fought guys that were in the realm of being same size or bigger. I mean Kevin G was big different attributes like less height but more weight. Paulo Costa. Romero. Alex was like yan vs izzy though and everyone wants to make that Izzy's excuse but remember izzy said in the leadup to his fight vs yan... he said he wasn't putting on weight and would come into the fight like a middleweight because that's where he feels comfortable and wouldn't sacrifice the hours of training he has at that weight just to put on some more weight to not be bullied on the ground. He lost the fight for not leaving his comfort zone. He was expected to lose that fight because of that choice. But izzy thought it was the right choice. I think in this fight that whole message of not leaving his comfort zone is a very real component of Izzy's career. He got comfortable with decision wins. He got comfortable blaming decision wins on opponents not forcing him to stop them. He got comfortable as the champ. He came into the fight looking like he was in his peak doing extremely well but what happened? Blame it on the weight advantage but izzy chose this and he claimed it was not a disadvantage for him to be weighing how he usually weighs against a bigger opponent. Blame it on izzy not going for the win? Ya I think that's it. He got comfortable going to decisions and he got caught a couple mins before getting another decision win. He got comfortable going to decisions so much that he might've even lost the touch of getting a finish. If there's risk involved he might not pursue a finish. If there's the thought that he wins the decision he gets passive. When a guy came along that was telling him that he would not get to a decision and izzy was gonna have to finish him if he wanted the win guess what happened.

      I think it was intentional. Watch Dan Hardy’s WarRoom. In his breakdown he shows how Pereira likes to move people into strikes. He throws a kick they move left into his left hand. Izzy might have been trying to avoid that by backing up and then using Pereira’s inexperience in the cage against him. Idk it’s a guess, it also could have been that you have this massive zombie walking towards you.

    • @jpm8960
      @jpm8960 Рік тому +1

      Thats becuase Izzy couldnt circle out the way as easy as he can vs much shorter guys that dont have Alex hook as a threat, and ofc if Alex runs into him he is not gonna stay still and accept to have crazy exchanges in close range so he has to back up

    • @jpm8960
      @jpm8960 Рік тому

      @@wesleyharmon8231 well Izzys style and plan is to strike and set up from a distance and also counterpunch, what he usually does is use his height advantage and circle out of the way, but with Alex having the same reach and hooks as a threat he couldnt just do that so easy, but then with Alex moving forward he is not gonna stay still and accept to trade punches in a shorter range either as he respects Alex power and chances in these exchanges so thats why he was more against the cage as usual. In the rematch if he doesnt want that he has to either circle out of the way before he backed up too much which aint easy and eventually you end up there too (the octagon is not that many steps big) or/and try to put some pressure himself but then if Alex doesnt back down and goes for wilder short range exchanges I dont think thats good for Izzy so I think he did good, it would be a better strategy to wrestle more in critical moments (and better) and that with how he did scoring more points I think he wins the rematch even though he can always get caught when Pereira goes for a all or nothing KO

Alex was more aggressive that round, landed the most damaging shots (including a head kick), defended Izzy's take down attempts while getting plenty of body shots in at the same time, and he capped off the round with the signature moment in taking Izzy down. Everyone always says, damage is the biggest factor in deciding a round. Well in the case of Round 2, Alex dished out way more damage than he took.

    I thought Izzy walking out with no theatrics and taking pereira down showcased a certain lack of confidence. You can play around with your walkout and you can stay on your feet with guys you know you'll beat on your feet, but Izzy didn't do those things. I think pereira occupied some significant head space deep down in izzy's mind, and pereira came out with a confidence that none of izzy's recent opponents have had. For an opponent to beat izzy they have to press forward and take risks, unlike romero and cannonier, and that takes confidence.

Periera was aggressive at the exact right moments and went for it. Conserved his power and energy well. He should move up to 205 and be double champ, although some of the bigger guys might use wrestling and jiu jitsu and take him into the deep end, but with his striking and power and size I think he's talented enough to be a double champ.

    I thought the same thing im more of a boxing fan but that fight gave me goosebumps because anyone with eyes could see that Alex Pereira was dangerous the whole time. Like a juggernaut that just keeps coming. Like he didn't even have good take down defense he was just strong AF. And his head movement wasn't great and he was just eating the shots. Also he punches and kicks hard AF. But he is vulnerable as well so there was just so much going on. It was a great fight!

    I've been knocking Izzy for his last few fights. I admit I was rooting against him here. But my God he was impressive last night. Peieira is fucking huge and every shot he throws sound like a gun just went off in the arena. And Izzy took it to him. He fought more aggressive last night than he has in a long time and I loved it. The Izzy that fought last night would put away Izzy from any of his last several fights.

    Great Video! But I’ve seen a lot of fights being stopped on the feet that I can’t say it’s rare. It usually happens when a guy is not defending him self intelligently like blocking/slipping etc. And it usually happens for MMA when a guy is pressed up the fence so even tho he is rocked he have the cage to lean on to prevent him from falling. It was a great stoppage, could even be argued to have been stopped earlier. Adasanya had his hands below his hips and was not blocking any shot. And all shots were landing clean with power. A guy don’t need to be flatlined to call the fight. That’s where the TKO part comes in. No reason for fighters to get even more brain trauma. Issy was gone after that left hook. Great fight do and Izzy would have wan on the scorecards if it has come to that.

    In the first 4 rounds Izzy’s footwork was killer. Alex didn’t have an answer, but I was nervous for Izzy bc he spent a lot of time backing up to the fence, and I think that’s what cost him the fight. He got too comfortable moving straight back late in the fight. I’m not a fan of the stoppage, but, man, what a fight.

    Izzy has this ability to make it look like he was winning, Izzy caught Alex and rocked him once,
    It looked like Izzy was winning the kicking exchange but it was actually Alex who was, Izzy even admitted it, and Alex actually hurt Izzy a few times with body shots, knees to the body, and shots to Izzy’s head when Izzy had Alex in a clinch and backed up again the cage, which caused Izzy to go for a take down, then of course the TKO,
