It was a win, the KO was decent, wasn’t even that big of a shot. What was so great about that win? Give a guy enough chances and he should win eventually. One of the most memorable moments, not really. Conor becoming first double champ in history, flatlining Jose, falling dead in like 20 seconds is memories for me. Israel won but it was aight nothing spectacular.

A lot of people argue that part of that makes GSP the GOAT is his losses against Hughes and Serra and then defeating them in the rematches. It showed that he had the ability to overcome adversity and setbacks. Izzy's ability to come back after losing not once, not twice, but *three* times to Pereira and knock him out to reclaim his title elevates his stature above what it would have been if he'd beaten Pereira in a decision win in their first UFC fight.

Now you're talking. This is a case where someone's over the top star entertainment quality gets in the way a bit of their accomplishments. This was a special moment. Alex Pereira is the best thing to ever happen to Israel in terms of an opponent in the same way Conor was for Khabib. I think these two pushed Israel and Khabib to new levels they may've not reached otherwise.
The headspace Israel was in and setting a trap and springing it with that level of conviction takes courage. His goal was not to win but to knock unconscious Alex Pereira and he did. I disagree with Chael on one thing. This is not done and there is not a limit on how many times these guys should fight. If and when Izzy goes up to 205 that will be an amazing fight. For now it's good.
