For all you asking for a Half-Life: Echoes video, I just released one! Here ya go: ua-cam.com/video/IL_T19D-Djk/v-deo.htmlsi=pxyiZuOhfdM7ahjh EDIT: Also at 0:04 I obviously mean century not decade, damn it lol.
In the last video you asked about games that you could try and here my list 1stalker series it has a great vibe and a big community with many mods or classic games like doom or blood or serious Sam or deus ex and even maybe postal 2 extra
@@mohamedrayanetobbal9334 on that note lucia, a friend of mine is working on a deus ex coop mod, so if you look into deus ex you should look into that (once it's finished ofc)
6:39 the team that made Field Intensity is actually making a full mod based on this encounter, where Otis becomes friends with a vortigaunt and they team up to fight their way out of Black Mesa together. there's a demo released already and it was genuinely an enjoyable experience when I played it. the mod is called "The Big Boned and The Curious"
One of the only mods to make me feel like I was a tired survivor fighting for his life rather than a supersoldier. Field Intensity is something I plan to replay in a while because of how good it is, but the sad thing is that it'll never feel like the first time
6:38 these two souls are more connected than you'll think, and have a great history. their encounter here by luck will be the start and the beginning of one of the greatest companionships, perhaps the first alliance ever done by man with an different field of being. There is a little mod goes by the name big boned and curious. though still in development, it promises a great deal, a playable beta is evidence. check it out if you will.
I agree that it's the best HL1 mod of all time to be honest, which was why when I saw they were looking for new voice acting I immediately hit them up haha. It's so awesome to be a part of the project and I'm really glad someone else enjoyed it as much as I did, and I'm glad you thought my performance was good too; I hadn't really done anything like that before.
If I had to guess, the holographic Kevin was likely supposed to be some kind of ghost or vision that Stefan hallucinated, as at least some part of him likely knew Kevin was dead once he heard the gunshots but he was still in denial over it
6:55 this is actually one of the concepts gabe wanted to be added in hl1,if the player stayed too long in a place it will be slowly infested by xen flora
8:32 this was at the bottom of one of the starting levels of opposing force i think 11:35 as far as i remember this maybe one of the levels in opposing force where we first encounter the pit drone
Fun fact:Creators also made half life induction about freeman getting hired in black mesa and then seeing how barney owned him a beer, and creators are Russian, as russian myself, I'm happy to see that we also make something for half life community
Richter's voicework here actually carries that 2000s VA vibe pretty well. Played plenty of shooters with a guy who sounds like that (over a radio, too)
The level where you get to recruit like 15 grunts at once is so much fun. Just having your army slowly grow as you progress through the level and after some point it becomes so large that you just destroy anything that appears. And all the instances where you lose your squad didn't feel cheap or stupid like they did in opposing force (losing your squad because the NPCs can't climb a ladder or shit like that).
yea exactly. I would love to see another hl1 mod replicate that feeling. maybe make the squad grow throughout the entire mod, not just sections (even if that section in FI was really long)
this mod got me through an emotional rollercoaster. From getting attached to Kevin to losing contact with him and then talking back to him but it was not the same as before to the cruel ending of finding him dead and finally the end where i will meet with him again...
6:41 Otis talking to vortigaunt is probably reference to The Big Boned and The Curious mod currently demo we played as Otis side along with free vort companion In this mod HECU soldier (probably Stefan Oldfield) can be spotted behind the door
I was surprised how much this mod's map design is on par with Valve's and Gearbox's. Not better, not worse, but exactly on par. It feels like playing an official Half-Life expansion and I loved it for that.
I love that not only are people still playing Half-Life mods more than 20 years later, but people are still making them too! Thanks for the video, I'll definitely be checking this one out!
What fascinates me about this mod is not only the storytelling but the desperation of the main character. He came through the ENTIRE RESONANCE CASCADE. Longer than Gordon, longer than Shephard. He survived that all and was desperate to get away. Sadly, he was a bit late, and the nuke probably killed him. Or not? Maybe G-man took him. Maybe Stefan is alive and will be used by G-man in the future? Regardless, this mod is incredible. Definitely one of the best Half-Life mods ever.
Awesome a HECU based mod! Mod’s got some nice looking QoL stuff and features. Neat VA by Richter too. Kino/Ludo twist with the Kevin character. Seeing that clip of HDTF though…Wonder if you’ll be covering it in the future? 👀 Awesome video and editing as always! Keep up the great work 🫡
I appreciate the mod developer team not making you too much a badass, but still completely capable. You get to kill a gargantua all by your lonesome, but at the same time you get dunked on by Barney's satchel charge. Really good work!
Fun fact: The final part of field intensity when your going to get in the truck and the area that looks kinda like the entrance is the same area from the starting point of a half life mod called half life induction and that mod is showing what happened a week or so before the renaissance cascade
8:42 this reminds me of Gearbox thought of characters for the expansion, they see someone in an area that we don't know the fate of and then they just decide to make them the main character
I like how he said he was a cheap Pyrocynical clone and then made the title really close to Pyrocynical titles, especially "The Best [_________] You Never Played"
I really like how this mod take any canon/oficial thing and put it here like the Black Mesa news paper of Blue Shift! that king of thing are incredibles details to consider!
10:04 "Now we begin a bigger and bigger squad" *Shows the next cut, with at least 8 members* My reaction was a "HOLY FUCK" cus well the mod being able to do that and the squad being a realistic number in most military's (5-8 soldiers)
Reference to spoilers ahead: I really liked this one! It's a nice little mod, there's a lot to be enjoyed here. However I did want to note something: I don't recall exactly where (I believe it's at the point where you're teleported to the Black Ops in that short sequence) but it's mentioned that Stefan receives a concussion, which is referenced further in the thoughts tab as he mentions hallucinations (such as the "hologram" of Kevin, which I'm guessing was supposed to be a ghostly apparition, which is a neat touch) and losing touch with reality (which I believe is stated right after the Xen research lab sequence, or during it, I can't recall which) Just a little note i thought I'd mention, lol, it's a surprising thing to see and I can't say I've seen in any other Half-Life mod. Can't wait to see your next video!
This mod looks amazing and a good number of references too great! You know for a second I thought since the player wears a black beret and escapes via a truck it made me think it's the same soldier you see in opposing force who tells adrian to get out of there before dying in front of a crashed truck
11:35 correction: this is actually an area from opposing force, not decay. this is the Storage Area 2 from the chapter Missing In Action. you do actually get to a location from decay, at the dampening locks from the chapter Resonance, but this is later on.
God that evac scene fucking broke me. I managed to get 16 or 18 guys and kept them alive all the way to the landing zone, and even the two xen attacks after you get there and make your way to the top of the walls around the area... and then i went down to the sewers... Hearing the teleportation noises just as the ladder breaks and watching my squad go from 18 to 0 fucking broke me. I basically just sat there for a good 5 minutes processing what happened, and that moment has always stuck with me ever since the first time I played this mod.
8:32 , I know people say that this place is like a Start of 'Opposing Force' but to me. It kinda looks like those outside place in Azure Sheep, Idk it's me who notice it Or it could be something else. EDIT: also, there is another game (Mod i mean) and it's made by the same Mod team as this Mod (Field Intensity) and the Mod team who ported Decay to PC, called 'Half-Life: Induction 1.3' Which the maps and stuff are from Field Intensity, Decay and Half-Life.

When the mod first launched, they didnt had the "UA-camr", voices but by someone Else. So Kevin had a different VA with a really strong slavic accent, It was funny.
I can't believe you forgot to mention how they put the multiplayer stalkyard map into the game! /s The voice acting on this mod wasn't always that great though. But because it's such a great mod and the community is more connected than ever, people like Richter are willing to step in to improve those voices. Lastly, you can talk to a Marc Laidlaw character through the phones.
Nice Tyler Speculation. Echoes has always been at the top for HL1 mods but Field Intensity is way up there in top 3-5. I would honestly say its more of an OP4 mod though given the arsenal and features. I really hope we get more mods like this aswell. Def gonna be recording a playthrough of this and do a review.
FI is certainly a very well done long campaign mod. But Half-Life is the game with probably the highest count of high quality longplayers and the rule for quality was set high pretty early on by Manke`s "Dark Star" mod. Over the years and decades many more were added by talented and skilled fans and personaly i simply cant say which one is the best. I just hope that HL1 modding continues. I never get bored playing these.
I love the implementation of cut enemy’s just out of our reach, and the kingpin is a solid hl1 enemy, I kinda wish there where more encounters with them.
When you see the 2 protagonist of Decay for there first time there you are also a specific soldier like the other times that you see Barney or Adrian. Also at the video there are a zone that you said that is decay but it is oposing force jeje I really want to play this mod again!
Try the mod that is on modb, called Report:Upgrade Edition. this is a collection of two mods Report One and the supplement Report Operation Alive. both are mods for half life 1.
I am old enough to have played original Half-life, when it was new. This mod is impressive, and it was fun to play, most of the time - however, I really wish they would've cut Kevin's blabbering entirely - it's a one way stream, he feels intrusive, and monologues can work, but Kevin is no Andrew Ryan. Kevin feels like some influencer whining in your ear, you can smell the "twist" right away, and there is no payoff, because you have no connection to him. I have no problems being harsh here, because stuff like this is quite challenging and the mod developers really bit more than they could chew with the writing and voice acting. The mod would've been better without him, or reduced to a simple objective giver at times, fitting more into the environmental storytelling. That's my problem with the voice acting here in general, some is OK, but some sounds really young and it's quite off putting - made me wonder if the creators were really young and how did they got introduced to HL1, or if they just sound very youthful. In the current year, modders can employ the AI and hopefully this is something we will see more and more - at this point, it still sound slightly artificial, but the voices the AI can do would be much more fitting to hardened soldiers etc. But overall, it was a good, pleasant experience for someone who hasn't launched Half-life for probably over 10 years.
So fun fact: the explosive snarks are actually based off the one new weapon from Opposing Force that doesn't appear in the main campaign.... Penguins! Those goofy as hell carnivorous flightless birds with grenades strapped to their back. Except here they're just cyan snarks. Which I'm chill with. Field Intensity's 1.6 update is out by the time of this comment, which adds a ton of quality-of-life features as well as some tweaks that make it well worth a replay. Highlights include: * Being able to reload and swap weapons without interrupting wall chargers * Stefan's HUD now comes with a unique font and seafoam green color * Low-definition models are enabled (so we get the classic MP5 among other things). The new weapons added aren't affected by LD models, but it's most noticeable with the Explosive Snarks... which, canonically, were mutated by Black Mesa, so that just helps to make them even more distinct, especially when finding ammo for them in the wild. * Some new updates to maps and whatnot. * The Kingpin's shield is a lot more visually distinct when it's active. (pro-tip but apparently the shield is weak to explosives) I'm pretty sure the area after we pick up the radio to speak with Kevin is the same one we see in the final chapter, just on the other side. 11:34 whoops that's actually the Pit Drone vent from Opposing Force (the chapter Missing in Action, I believe), but it is right next to the Dampening Locks from Decay's "Resonance" 15:54 It actually does feature ONE custom track. In the chapter "Field Intensity" as you blow up the door with a tank, an Opposing Force-esque track plays, but it's not actually from opposing force. The thing about Field Intensity that it does phenomenally is the feeling of complete despair in the latter half, after the evacuation fails. Stefan wanders through slowly infesting sewer tunnels, and he hears what he thinks is his friend's voice coming from the other side of a portal. Passing through it, he finds himself in a strange alien world. His journal here mentions that he feels like he's in a very bad dream. Later on we see those images of Kevin, and I'm pretty sure those are hallucinations, considering that when we get back to Earth, we hear him again. You pointed it out very well, how _lonely_ Black Mesa feels from "F.U.B.A.R." and beyond. Black Ops don't speak, they just shoot you. Xen's forces no longer appear; it's just Race X, who are infinitely more hostile. Everyone you come across is either dead or will die. Your only companions get taken away from you, more quickly each time than the last. It honestly becomes hard to play through the last chapters just from that feeling alone, that it's overwhelming. By the time I actually reunited with Kevin, I felt what Stefan was feeling, probably: broken. Nobody escapes Black Mesa. Not alive.
If I'm not mistaken at the start of the truck cutscene where we are leaving after the fight, I think that first area of the cutscene is the end of HL Blue:Shift where Barney and the other scientics leave by using the teleporter.
14:22 Holy s***, I had the exact same thought. That plot twist really reminded me of Pyrocynical's video on Cry of Fear, and moments later you make the same connection. Spooky.
The ending of this mod is just as dark and f#@&g sad as Team Fortress x Hotline Miami mod and HM itself. It leaves me with empty soul and silence. I actually wanna cry. Funny enough original HL n add-ons are my "comfort zone" I feel very happy playing, chill and whatnot. This tho... It makes me feel depressed for the entire day
8:56 I don’t know if anyone else commented this but the team behind FI has a google sheet on their moddb files page that shows how they lined up the mod with HL and its expansions
I played this on sven coop version where the enemies was more aggressive which makes the combat more intense than ever. Even still the kevin lore still hits me like a truck. RIP kevin.
Sawing Kevin's dead body reminds me pure Spec Ops The Line storyline, where Konrad was already dead all the time and we was a soldier with schizophrenia.
I downloaded this mod and have a big technical complain to make: there is a terrible forced mouse acceleration that cannot be disabled, hud is quite large and fov is something I can't really explain, but seems to be zoomed in uncomfortably. Tried swapping config files but that didn't really change a thing. If you enable net_graph, you will see that it's font is also abnormally large. That is painful
Just finished it on hard difficulty. Along with HL: Echoes, this is really the best HL mod ever - feels like official HL expansion, great maps, great gameplay, not easy, decently long a fun to play. In my opinion, this is actually what Blue Shift should have been - it feels like Opposing Force 2. I really like this mod, it can be easily canon.
I think you should appreciate the idea that the desk the Gman sits at in the episode 2 cutscene isnt real. Its the gman creating it. But i like this mods use of it.
this mod is really interesting, and also really sad at the same time, after you hear the gunshots in kevin's radio and when we lose our squad, its just pure silent, no alive black mesa personnels or hecu soldiers, just the black ops and xen
Echoes: *Easily claps Field Intensity in all aspects* 🗿 Idk chief, I heard more hype build around Echoes and it payed off so much that I was glad I played it and wish it got it's own steam page, FIELD INTENSITY on the other hand dragged for so long o m f g. Especially when Kevin dissapears and then re appears monotonous. God, the levels are way too long and get slightly confusing a bit
This was a great one indeed. The post-opposing force sections blew me away. I still say EZ2 is the best mod of while franchise, but this one earned "best hl2 mod"
id say Cry of Fear is the best HL1 mod, not only it started up as a mod, but it then became a full blown total conversion/free game you can play even without owning hl
it's so funny I actually recorded it correctly at first, then once I was editing I thought "wait a century is 1000 years, that's not right... decade it is!" lmao
Tbf now that i think about it, Richter Overtime kinda sounds like Private James T. "Joker" Davis, / Sergeant Joker from Full Metal Jacket (the movie) so its kinda fitting for the late 80s aesthetic, especially bcuz of age factor too.

I would honestly say its more of an OP4 mod though given the arsenal and features. I really hope we get more mods like this aswell. Def gonna be recording a playthrough of this and do a review.
FI is certainly a very well done long campaign mod.
But Half-Life is the game with probably the highest count
of high quality longplayers and the rule for quality was set
high pretty early on by Manke`s "Dark Star" mod.
Over the years and decades many more were added by
talented and skilled fans and personaly i simply cant say
which one is the best. I just hope that HL1 modding continues.
I never get bored playing these.
I love the implementation of cut enemy’s just out of our reach, and the kingpin is a solid hl1 enemy, I kinda wish there where more encounters with them.
0:04 Quarter of a century my guy.
When you see the 2 protagonist of Decay for there first time there you are also a specific soldier like the other times that you see Barney or Adrian.
Also at the video there are a zone that you said that is decay but it is oposing force jeje
I really want to play this mod again!
Try the mod that is on modb, called Report:Upgrade Edition. this is a collection of two mods Report One and the supplement Report Operation Alive. both are mods for half life 1.
I've never thought that room gman was in was the anomalous materials front desk in that scene and ive been a fan since 98.
16:05 HOLY SHIT BENREY AND TOMMY COOLATA FROM HLVRAI MENTIONED!!!!!!!!
But overall, it was a good, pleasant experience for someone who hasn't launched Half-life for probably over 10 years.
loved it! i hope they port it for sven coop
Soon (tm)
Thanks for showing me this. I will definitely play it now
you deserve more subs this was a great video
So fun fact: the explosive snarks are actually based off the one new weapon from Opposing Force that doesn't appear in the main campaign.... Penguins! Those goofy as hell carnivorous flightless birds with grenades strapped to their back. Except here they're just cyan snarks. Which I'm chill with.
Field Intensity's 1.6 update is out by the time of this comment, which adds a ton of quality-of-life features as well as some tweaks that make it well worth a replay. Highlights include:
* Being able to reload and swap weapons without interrupting wall chargers
* Stefan's HUD now comes with a unique font and seafoam green color
* Low-definition models are enabled (so we get the classic MP5 among other things).
(pro-tip but apparently the shield is weak to explosives)
I'm pretty sure the area after we pick up the radio to speak with Kevin is the same one we see in the final chapter, just on the other side.
11:34 whoops that's actually the Pit Drone vent from Opposing Force (the chapter Missing in Action, I believe), but it is right next to the Dampening Locks from Decay's "Resonance"
15:54 It actually does feature ONE custom track.
Spooky.
Kevin was all in le head
Me when the protagonist's journey is all in le head:
RIP kevin.
8:33 this is the bottom pit that you first see in opposing force
16:05 I didn't expect a Half Life VR But The AI Is Self Aware reference but that is really funny to me!
do you have you're passport
11:35 Opposing force, not decay.
16:02 Daaaaamn they even put an easter egg referring to HLVRAI with Benrey's and Tommy's lockers, genius
I would love a mod where you play as a Black ops agent
00:03 It‘s a quarter of a century, not of a decade! Half-Life is 25 years old 🎂
Just downloaded it and played half hour, fantastic mod. Will be playing it all this week.
I would love to see this mod & half-life echoes ported to steam
I’d like to think that this is like a entropy zero 2 thing where it’s like a body cam instead of us playing as the character
You forgot to mention that some of the areas are taken from half life dearhmatch, its cool that this mod sorta works them into the black mesa facility
Just beaten the game in one sitting. I have never felt so immersed.
8:40 I often forget how late Shephard actually arrives at Black Mesa.
You’re much more enjoyable than pyrocynical, your voice is actually bearable!!
When TF2 Engieneer update says "now it's your turn" i think this is what they meant, and this mod really deliver it all of the true HL fans
Great vid!
This mod really set the bar of mods for me, nothing has matched it in my mind so far when it comes to HL1 mods.
Echoes: *Easily claps Field Intensity in all aspects* 🗿
Idk chief, I heard more hype build around Echoes and it payed off so much that I was glad I played it and wish it got it's own steam page, FIELD INTENSITY on the other hand dragged for so long o m f g. Especially when Kevin dissapears and then re appears monotonous. God, the levels are way too long and get slightly confusing a bit
This was a great one indeed. The post-opposing force sections blew me away. I still say EZ2 is the best mod of while franchise, but this one earned "best hl2 mod"
This mod is what Half-Life Opposing Force dreams of being
The person next to the first sighting of Dr. Keller is Dr. Rosenberg I believe. Also we support our german pyro
id say Cry of Fear is the best HL1 mod, not only it started up as a mod, but it then became a full blown total conversion/free game you can play even without owning hl
I agree.
Afraid of monsters is also one of the best
8:40 it seems to be from a Deathmatch map, but I don’t remember the name
a quarter of a decade...
it's so funny I actually recorded it correctly at first, then once I was editing I thought "wait a century is 1000 years, that's not right... decade it is!" lmao
Its great to see where your channel is going to and your not eminem anymore, Great!
Tbf now that i think about it, Richter Overtime kinda sounds like Private James T. "Joker" Davis, / Sergeant Joker from Full Metal Jacket (the movie) so its kinda fitting for the late 80s aesthetic, especially bcuz of age factor too.
Definitely one of my favorite mods. You should review delta particles. That is the best hl1 mod hands down
we were actually hallucinating in xen, or atleast it says that in the "thoughts" in the objective menu.
