  • Tall grass? Check.
    Messy lawn? Check.
Worth an hour of your life? Eh, depends on the kind of day you are having.
    - Q: Why are you re-uploading this? You are a greedy scammer!
    - A: I have always made two versions of my mowing and pressure washing projects, a quick and real time version. They are very different experiences and folks almost always have a preference, so I make both available.
Q: Why don't you bag the tall grass?
A: No need. Heat, humidity, and bugs break down the clippings into free nitrogen fertilizer over days. Plus, University of Florida recommends doing what I am, so if you have a complaint take it up with them (gardeningsolutions.ifas.ufl.e...)
Q: What lawn care equipment are you using?
A: See timestamps below. Not mentioned are DJI Spark for drone shots and STIHL BR800 to blow off.
Q: Why don't you stripe lawns?
A: Striping lawns is not a common local practice. Most lawns here are cut too short to stripe, with yards this small or this full of stuff you don't get many chances to, and also because my main goal is to film which means filming in smaller sections rather than long back and forth.
Q: Why do you work by yourself?
A: I mow three days a week. I am mainly a stay at home dad. The amount it would cost to legally hire someone (workers compensation, social security/Medicare taxes, etc) is not worth the extra productivity they would bring.
Q: Is the new Bobcat mower yours?
A: I am currently in the middle of a several month demo from Bobcat. I was not paid to feature the Bobcat mower, am not obligated to say anything about it one way or another, and as this video shows am allowed to put it through absolutely ANYTHING I want to! :D
Q: How much did you charge for this yard?
A: $75, much less than a normal initial service would have been. I really wanted to make a video on it. For one reason to test the Bobcat ZS4000 mower, for another to make some great footage for you, and lastly to make that sweet UA-cam cheddar ( • $30 Mow Made Me $28,81... )
    Q: You charged too little!
    A: • $30 Mow Made Me $28,81...
Q: Why are you using electric lawn care equipment?
A: I was sent them to test, so they didn't cost me anything. I like saving on fuel, but the biggest reason is because when I film I have to move the camera so much. It is nice to not have a gas engine constantly running, making noise, fumes, and wasting a little bit of money every time I set it down to move the camera.
Q: What was all that stuff in the yard?
A: Mainly kid stuff, lots of abandoned gardening boxes and a fence that looks like it kept the garden separate from the rest of the backyard. Maybe to keep dogs or kids out?

This is the third video on this yard. The first was a quick time version of the initial visit, the second was why I dropped them, this (the third) is a long time version of the initial visit. If you ever have questions, read the description. I spend a lot of time on them to answer questions you may have.

You are right about the clippings. It works for my lawn . It fertilizes my lawn just fine and gives my lawn a good healthy green color. Which saves me a lot of 💰. Ah, I remember this yard!
;) One of these days Brad, you'll buckle down and grab yourself one of those walk behind trimmers for massively overgrown properties. You can walk-behind trim the whole property, and then go back with a backpack blower and get all the debris out in one go. That way you don't sacrifice your blades on hidden dangers! Would be great on those hot summer days where you really don't want to spend too much time outside of your air conditioned mobile office.

  • @Mcdevin281

Another great video. Keep up the good work. Sorry for the Karens in the comment section. Even if those clippings lead to thatch, I don't think these clients would care as long as their grass isn't a foot long. I never bag yards that overgrown because it's a waste of time and money as you said.

518 views and only 75 likes...JEEZE FOLKS!!! Brad earned every bit of this one!!! I don't blame you a bit for dropping this one Brad. Too much to mow around in the back yard and to be honest, the Bobcat is too big for the yard anyways. It was the correct tool in the shed considering how much horsepower it takes to mow overgrown grass like that one, but now that it is manageable even the local high schooler with a hand mower and equipment and a desire to make a great business could take care of this yard. Nice job Brad and kudos for honoring a contract/promise. Many other contractors would have left that one in the first hour, I figure that one took at least 2.5 not including the time to film it. How many batteries did the Hart trimmer need to pull that one off?. Also is the Sthil edger getting a little bit worn out? It sounds like the bearings in the motor are giving away..

I agree totally Matt. I think his clutch is getting worn. Its a combi unit and the different torque for the various attachments are demanding. I heard the unit roaring and it look like the blade was barely moving. He did a good job!

First of all, intersting video. Thanks for the great content. I absolutely can understand that you later decided not to continue. I also do have some questions. I understand that the University is recommending to let the tall grass lay on the ground and to use it as a fertilizer. But would you do this in your own yard as well? For me it looks messy with all the tall grass and if I would be your customer and would pay for your service, I would like to have a clean result. Besides that I would like to understand why in the states you do not have lawn edges and or stone border around your houses and fences so that there cant grow any grass? Especially due to the fact that most houses are painted in white it always looks ugly with all the green dirt on the walls after cutting it with the lawn trimmer. In Germany we never let grow grass until our house walls. What's the reason behind this? Thanks in advance and all the best!

I think the edging should of been done first around the house and saves time doing it later on.. and less hassle when mowing along the fence etc

@videogamedom , every now and again he will show a longer version for subscribers like myself who enjoy it . If I remember rightly he turned this job down because there was almost twice as much junk in the garden the next time he went back . Imagine trying to do this type of garden years ago with shears instead of a weed waker .

I never understood .....why do people buy houses and never mow their lawn.....just rent an apartment......no lawn.....people are so lazy..,.should have charged $200 for that jungle. Can't believe cities let these yards get this bad.
